  1. Almost every helmet I've tried on looks like it's a spaceship that has landed on my head... I guess it also has to do that I'm between a medium and large size for most brands and I have to take the large because the medium fits a bit too tight. Any suggestions for a compact / low profile (preferably mtb xc / trail) helmet?
  2. Yay for some competition and more variety! Hopefully they will stock some stuff that the other shops don't.
  3. It's one of the reasons I'm learning to service my own bike.
  4. A lbs here has said that they would charge more for labour if you bought parts elsewhere and wanted them to fit them to your bike.
  5. Ah, ok, thx. I see it's a 29er frame as well... It does look very nice.
  6. Seems very similar in spec and design to a Zula...
  7. Oil them. Will sort out the issue Or you could try this: http://www.pinkbike.com/news/Tech-Tuesday-Silence-That-Squeaky-Disc-Brake-2011.html
  8. @Flowta: Yup, and considering the price it doesn't look too terrible...
  9. To get back to the OP's question. Some companies are not producing 26 hard tail bikes anymore, but a lot still are. A 29er HT will not be as plush / comfortable / forgiving as a 26 dual suspension. Ride both and see which one you like.
  10. Well, they are starting to stock 29ers... http://www.makro.co.za/p/28121/raleigh-hydra-29-er-mountain-bike-27-speed/ Anyways, I think there will always be a place for 26ers.
  11. What if a thief steals my car keys and then uses them to steal my car? Then I would not be able to hand in both sets. But I can see how having the spare keys in / on the car would give the insurance company a reason not to pay.
  12. I don't think Titan make any dual sus bikes. But a 650b dual sus would be nice...
  13. It may be cheaper to buy directly from the east, but will you have a warranty if it breaks?
  14. Looks nice. I wonder if there will be a FS option as well. I'd definitely be interested
  15. Wouldn't using a nose plug prevent the issue? Or maybe coating your nostrils with some vaseline might help?
  16. Is this the 29er? Looks like the retail was around 26k when they were new, so it seems like a fair price.
  17. Tight switchbacks / corners are a weakness of 29ers (in general). Seems like that section of the course might be better suited to a 26er. Or you might just have to adjust your riding style for that section. There are some good training videos available on riding switchbacks.
  18. Not everyone fits on a 29er... smaller riders will do better on a 26. And not every course is suited to 29ers.
  19. What if they changed the rules that classifieds must first be approved by a moderator? I think Gumtree does this. It could also eliminate ads with incomplete info such as not stating the size of a bike. Another suggestion is for some more filters... e.g. sorting by price.
  20. Looks nice, where did you buy it and how much was it?
  21. More pics and info: http://www.pinkbike.com/news/Giant-trance-x-29er-details-prototype.html
  22. Fun, fitness, stress relief, spending time with friends who also cycle.
  23. It might work, but the how will the overall geometry of the bike be? The 'middle' p[art (frame) might be too short then?
  24. Do you have a phone that can run Endomondo?
  25. You can try and contact Dragon Sports, they are the distributors for Giant in S.A. They might have stock or be able to tell you which bike shops have old models left.
