Gooday, I have this Novatec CL hub and was wondering if it is worth using it to build a wheel? I sounds and feels fine (heavy) and could even use the driver on a Shimano hub if it will fit? Anybody know anything about this hub? Worth anything or paperweight material? (Tried to Google but no luck hence the questions) Thanks in advance

SLX chainring - more than 25 000kms KMC/Sram chain - about 15 000kms Cassette - about 8 000 (Cheapest used) 9sp MTB - I use oil on my drivetrain and clean often. Seems to be working.

I have heard Republic is closing down the shop side of things. There is some good news in that Toni Pedro will remain in his workshop for the next two months and then move into his own premises close by. This is great news because Toni is highly regarded as the best bike mechanic in Durban. I have experienced this when he did some work for me which no other mechanic in Durban could do ( I have tried most of them). Since then, he is my go-to person when I have messed up in my attempts at home mechanic endeavors.

Thanks Droo, Too old (reckon I could be one of the oldest on the Hub???) to break chains under load but point taken in all seriousness. When top bike workshop people reply I have to listen.

Has anybody tried any of these chains? Looking for advice and recommendations as these are half the price? If they last half the time of a Shimano/Sram chain then they could be worth it to me? Any other suggestions will be appreciated. Thank Chain.file

Looks like Jones Bars. They work for my wrists like no other bar has. Put them on a Redshift stem so the comfort is there if you want/need it.

As long as they work I say. Colour is irrelevant and fashion is out of fashion. Ride the bike is the best answer I think.

I have been running a Son Hub for many years now working through a Cyclec local controller and the Led front light. Although not really bright enough to dodge potholes at speed, it is certainly bright enough for all other uses, including charging phone and batteries. The only time I feel the resistance is if I spin the wheel by hand so it is negatable for me Absolute game changer. Use the USB to recharge and the batteries are always full. with the charger and new fitted batteries I am able to run through the night on bright power.

On the Flare I used petrol on a small art brush on the visible joint and opened it gently. It just comes apart the same way to open a glued cell phone is opened. The whole inside workings are removable. I cut the wires and soldered a small sized battery (different capacity batteries are available) obtained from a toy supply shop, Gopro copter thingies use them. There is not much space inside the Flare, not like the Lysyne where a much bigger battery size wise can fit. The flexible end wire bit of the battery can be bent over to allow a smaller size. Soldered and used heatshrink. Glued it back together with epoxy. No pics of the process but very simple. Batteries are cheap next to a replacement Flare!

I have just replaced my Flare RT rechargeable battery with a much bigger capacity battery. The one supplied is only 420mAh. I use this Bluetooth connected light Flare and it now lasts for weeks on auto. Cost ..... R80. Lezyn front light also has a small capacity battery and this was replaced at the same time. Definitely worth it. Thought I would just put it out there as most light batteries are replaceable.

Done 30 000kms on my Truck Run (conversion on a gravel bike) with no problems. 500W motor is enough for me with loaded panniers etc. Conversion cost me R20 000 (including local battery). Good enough for me and I would not go fancy.

This does not look biodegradable and Woolies love packaging that is mostly not biodegradable, no matter what they say. ALL cycling on bike drinks should be biodegradable so as to avoid the mess cyclist make during a race. Runners too.
