I should of put some clarity here, road dynamics is a slightly different kettle of fish to MTB dynamics. I was referring to MTB inclined routes and the occasisions we've happened upon broken bones, dehydration etc in the Lanseria, Cradle, Krugersdorp outlying areas. Example 1.. We came across somebody who had clipped an anthill and broken his shoulder, think it was near the Just send it segement (IYKYK). We stopped the ride, triaged the situation, no details blah blah ,called our on call support and transported the rider to Fourways Life. In the midst of the ride to the hospital, the comment was " so lucky, I normally ride by myself as i dont like groups". Example 2..Dehydrated rider whose AXS battery had malfunctioned and then proceeded to bonk into the darkest dehydration hole trying to ride home in the hardest gear. Yet again the group stopped and we sorted the situation. TLDR; People like to ride their MTB alone (increased risk) and not prepare, then rely on the groups they detest for all the help.

Sure Brexit played a part, but heaps of 10 - 5 year old stock, sounds like a business issue.

I have a question? Since i primarily ride in groups and the burden of an incident is a shared burden. When you do have an incident? Who is coming to get you? Has this happened yet? Why I ask, is that ive had a few rides where a lone rider has gone down and our group has had to stop our ride and help with the situation, often severly impacting our ride from enjoyment to the dealing with a trauma event. The rider generally has vague recollection of who is waiting for them (often what happens when you go over the bars) and the ICE phone contact is generally out of reach. Feels like a lot of people are just taking a chance and claiming they are super prepared. /Let the mob assault begin

From all the youtube videos ive watched and bikes tested on this topic, gravel bike (Addict Gravel, Factor Ostro? etc) with road tyres will be as fast as a road bike for the majority of people. Gravel bike with two wheelsets will do just fine for gravel/tame mtb and road. But given that everybody on the Hub fell off the world tour after narrowly losing to Wiggo or had their golden chance dashed by Lance at the US Postal trials...the time loss on a gravel bike will therefore be unimaginable on road ....🙃

On a sidenote - Cyclist was knocked down in a hit and run on Cedar Road, Broadacres around 11am. Lucky a Cedar Lakes resident has the reg and photos.

Narrow country road, trucks and cycling. I feel that overseas they test the limits on purpose because they have the right. A lot of people in cemetries beacuse they did the right thing. We dont really have a choice in SA in using the gap between the yellow line and the grass, we know the outcome if we play chicken with a truck. Id rather be alive than smeared across the road and in the right.

I actually saw a gang of padel players abducting cyclists - nobody talks about it due to Big Padel controlling Johannesburg. Jokes aside, I don't see ppl from my age group leaping over to cycling in the same numbers as before. The 25 - 35 numbers aren't there in my view.

I have been researching this to death, the reviewers are saying the solar is only worth it, if you go 1040 size. However, most of them are located in notoriously not sunny places, we get the Sun Pro+ Subscription here which might factor into it. Need the owners to come out here
