  1. Hagar, Sorry - no time to read all 16 pages ..... Let me know what the shortfall is in parts / money ... Let me know her shorts and shirt sizes so I can send up some (new) kit. PM me Bank details and Postal address ...
  2. Can't get rid of the SUV as it's too practical as a family wagon so I'm getting a Corsa Bakkie to save fuel. Somehow does not make sense. Spending R3000 a month to save R1500
  3. CO2 CO2 CO2 CO2
  4. The Paris-Nice race's final stage was delayed by 10 minutes as riders protested at a drugs test imposed on Kevin van Impe earlier this week. Belgian Van Impe had been preparing for his son's funeral when a doctor was instructed to carry out a drugs test. Van Impe said he had been threatened with sanctions if he did not go ahead with the out-of-competition test. "It was either do it right on the spot or it would be taken as if I had refused," said the Quick Step rider. "Given that riders, who are above all human beings, understand and accept the tests that they have to undergo, they expect, in turn, that their dignity is respected," the Professional Cyclists Association (CPA) said in a statement. Van Impe's son Jayden died shortly after he was born prematurely. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/other_sports/cycling/7299573.stm
  5. Rollers Rock, I mean ... oh well, you know .... Rollers Rollers Rollers
  6. If you're going the IDT route then get yourself a spare rear wheel so that ou do not wear down your training tyre making you more susceptible to punctures. Spinning bikes are okay if they are set up correctly. Rollers are best - having to maintain a still upperbody will improve your climbing. The rolling resistance makes HR interval training easier.
  7. Dangerboy: Can you get white spokes for Equinox Carbons?
  8. Open Invite: If you're in the Fourways area and you think you qualify then send me a PM.
  9. Colour-coded speedplays
  10. Windblown: I'm happy if it does get donated. As with the previous bike ... it's available on temporary loan first .... then if you want to commit to the sport of cycling it's available on permanent loan .... then, if you're really keen and you don't have the budget for a bike of your own you might just find that it becomes yours. Working on a 56cm and 60cm for the same purpose. This one's a 54cm.
  11. a larger view of the (almost) end result
  12. I spent some time in the garage on a project bike this Saturday. I completed the bar tape and cabling last night. For obvious reasons I'm changing the cranks to a standard 53/39 as soon as I find one. This frame came from an ad that Rolypolly placed https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=21737&KW=lots<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Black or White? Got these from Scorpione and these from Racman This community bike is going to make someone .
  13. Pic #5 - is that DG? what's he riding? it's not a blue and yellow raleigh ....
  14. Jamie definitely out - saw him on Friday - still Limping ...
  15. I'm sure this is not news to some of you .... but for the rest, enjoy. http://www.bicycling.com/article/0,6610,s1-1-8-16868-1,00.html?cm_mmc=BicyclingNL-_-2008_02_28-_-gear-_-shimano When Gerolsteiner rider Fabian Wegmann rolled his Specialized Tarmac SL2 to the start of stage one at the 2008 Tour of California in Sausalito it was the only bike in the Tour to have a very production-looking Shimano Electronic Dura Ace drivetrain. This near-final version has two significant changes from what we saw last year: First, the shifters and derailleurs are more similar in size and design to current Dura-Ace and second, both are now connected via a wire that carries the electronic signal. The original prototypes that Wegmann tested were wireless. The front derailleur has automatic trim that adjusts to compensate for chainline in relation to the rear cogs. In the case of a fall on the driveside, the rear derailleur pops sideways towards the spokes out of harms way and remains there until you tap the rear shifter. A claimed major benefit from E Dura-Ace is the fact that it senses a shift with very little pressure on the lever pad. One case where riders especially liked this was on near freezing days when their fingers were too cold to easily work standard shifters. Watch this exclusive video with Shimano Europe's Florian Holczer to get a full rundown on the features and performance of the new E Dura Ace. 16. I've ridden full carbon for 3 yrs. Started with an EPX - awesome frame. Stopped at a not so LBS to say hello and spotted the Solis Umbra. (top-end, 1kg). I had the bike built up overnight to my own spec. 7kg's ride ready - less if I put on my Equinox (brag, slap) Because of a change in geometry from my EPX to the Umbra, I changed my frame size (smaller) - after the first ride a put on a longer stem which made a world of difference. No hassles with the bike. Love it.
  17. (mini hijack - maybe) And how do you control/minimise the carbon-on-carbon brake screetch It's a great way to announce yourself on the corners ... but not very trendy
  18. Lowracer: Yes, it's one that I would love to have in the collection. Any thoughts
  19. and if you find one, pls let me know - I've been looking for a while.
  20. Remember, frame size is not just height. You're made up of upper body and lower body. If you end up on a 59/60cm then chat to Great white he's been trying really hard to sell this https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=21029&KW=ace. You might consider looking for a "fixed/rigid" stem though. Entry level components, with a triple chainring. A good way to start before you decide how serious you're going to get.
  21. How does it differ from the swearing (albeit in the form @#$%) that goes on The Hub? It adds no value to the conversation -regardless of who you're talking to you. Try this: A clean Hub for the whole of next week. The first user to @$#^ donates a bike to his/her local community ...
