  1. Eric from van Gaalen in Skeerpoort, also Meaurant Botha/AMA Rider. Geof Vorpagel/Cult Cycling is another one.
  2. Maybe their site admin used a co2 bomb on a server
  3. So basically they did everything within reason and then some. From the account above and his subsequent actions, this little c___ must be charged with attempted murder and jailed as such. If I had my way he'd be hanging! P O S ... Actually no, even *** has more value on this earth!
  4. Nice man, would make a good commuter as well. Not all that different to a 29r, but at that price
  5. Of course it does, but the same argument applies to ANY other road user. If some knob, and there are plenty on the roads, decides to run me down because he has a bad encounter with another cyclist, then it's the mentality of that person, all he needed was an excuse. Respect or otherwise. Non of this deals with the core issue of general cyclist fatalities, taking just this week for example, how do either those relate to the point made? The question of respect needs to be across the board. If you're a bad driver, that attitude will carry over to whatever other mode of transport you use. It's amazing that in Europe on narrower roads than here there can be large groups and riders on there own, with far fewer road deaths than here. Why, because of a general mutual respect. Which we don't have here, even amongst ourselves.
  6. +100 .... appeals to me like that as well and Nic's bike is looking bloody nice I reckon. One of the cooler singlespeeds out there, his looks quite different to the one on the website.
  7. I just laugh at the mentality of so many road users full stop. What makes cyclists so special as a group compared to any other? The problem isn't restricted to any one group, the problem is in how all of us behave on the road.
  8. "Can we clean house and attempt to make friends with the other road users. We tend to blame all other road users for what they do wrong and to us, but look at the photo taken today" Arguing from this perspective is a dumb argument imo and just adds to the pointlessness of the debate. The fatalities this week haven't been from a group of dickheads sitting idle taking up lane space. One was a hit and run, the other involved with a SAPS car. So how 'cleaning house and making friends would resolve this is beyond me. What this picture does display is the general attitude of road users. It doesn't matter if they're on two wheels or four, motorised or non motorised. People need to change their attitudes overall.
  9. Also condider the Geax AKA. Superb tyre, surprised me.
  10. Well the safety point is arguable, plus it restricts access to well known and used public spot as well. So it not 'just' a few cyclists.
  11. Male record - 07min59sec by @hieberacing Broke @mr_tread's record of just over 8 mins Female record - 11min46sec by @MrsTREAD
  12. Reasoning? Far as I know it's a public space at the water tower.
  13. Lindani? I thought that was for the benefit of the camera! Rummages photo archives
  14. Dont tense, keep body relaxed, tuck and roll. Helps to practice on a soft surface as well, like grass and/or a foam mat. This will also help your mindset shift into an instinctive reaction for those moments when you do crash.
  15. Basically, it's a grade A tool. The OP that is.
  16. Yes but, clear communication should be one of those.
  17. About the only thing is the Sauser's tweet. As you say, sceptical. "@sauserwind Christoph Sauser got my safrican private land lession. never feels good to turn around w escort. hate to be teached since kindergarden" All else aside though, reckon Hellwarp's post puts it into context though as far land access generally goes. Despite what the 'legalities' and our own personal views on land ownership may or may not be.
  18. Imagine the flap flap if he'd dared to pitch up with a 60k 140mm trail bike!
  19. You mean in your opinion, some folk still look like a "prick" with or without a peak, or a helmet for that matter Just to correct you though, Giro, Bell, Kask etc all make top end helmets with a peak. Serves a function for some riding and riders. Not that this needs to be a huge bone of contention though, I mean it's just a bloody peak. Theres more important matters, like keeping the beer cold for a post ride swig. Ooh, hope no one from that 'other thread' starts in now.
  20. Never had any neck issues with the peak before, most of them are adjustable or open enough for line of sight. Find it useful for low branches and debris. Each to their own.
  21. Savant will be fine. Quite a few people ride with "Road" helmets. MTB specific helmets normally have a peak and/or more coverage on the back of the head for impacts. Other than that though, the difference is negligible for the most most part. Merry riding.
  22. Think Drongo pretty much sums it up. Not to say we shouldn't complain, but we should also realise the context in how many of these trails develop. We're taking a lot for granted when going onto trails that lead through private land, especially multiple farms. To think that R50 is "top dollar" is laying it on a bit thick and doesn't necessarily make a going concern some kind of commercial gold mine. The onus, as with any outdoor activity, is to make sure you're prepared and to ultimately be responsible for yourself.
  23. Hell yeah, then you were legend, even if your times were *** Mate of mine made his own frames, called them "Viggen" built one just to accommodate one of those tyres. Good times
  24. Also used that a bit, although as well as Powasol there's a host of good local products at fair pricing. Powasol, SMP's F61, Red Hot and a few others I think. Although the Red Hot stuff has really impressed me! Especially the cassette cleaner and polish. Just not terribly keen on the aerosol cans, although I can understand this helps get off the grime. F61 make a nifty lube product thats good for muddy rides and multi day events. Two small canisters, ones a degreaser and ones a lubricant. For my personal use though I've always bought the big drum of Prepsol and a large container of carwash shampoo. These I decant from time to time in varying dilutions into two handspray bottles.
