  1. Likewise, service did dip for a bit a while ago though, but since Chris came in he's turned that place around. More so now with the new owner as well.
  2. Yeah RC was there a while, I also enjoyed eccentricity of the Editor before him, Zapata Espinoza. Or 'Zap" as he was known. Zap went onto Mountain Bike and I followed through on that, the editorial columns were great. Especially "Hug the Bunny" in the back section. Then as things do, there was change. http://www.ridephat.com/archiveshow.php?recordID=116
  3. Good location, close enough to Sunninghill as well.
  4. Bike ... Been doing so since the early 90s and on the odd occasion MBUK Obviously Tread as well Digital will be the way to go eventually, but still a ways off. Besides, for me personally I like paging through actual print. Especially if it's by a fireplace.
  5. Nice man, like the design on it. Often go past the Rosebank Market to check out the antique stuff, especially cameras and watches. Shot StevieL ... this caught my attention "Another offering is the Hydromax; which contains hydraulic fluid within the case to counteract the effects of external pressures." Sure I'd never have cause for that, but damn do I like the idea wearing that
  6. Should be a strong duo this, especially with good sponsorship backing that they have. That flippen Ghost should come with balloon strings to keep it anchored down!
  7. That Bell & Ross, tell me more? Looks a very unique time piece!
  8. Bollocks man, just some folk showing appreciation here for a common passion. Some of these watches are fine pieces of craftsmanship. Like anything else, there will individuals bragging and like anything else there will be individuals with a chip on the shoulder about it all.
  9. This and Blunder's Tissot I like, very nice
  10. Depends how obtuse you want to be when making a judgment of someone else based on how expensive their clothing may or may not be. Just as bad as someone in expensive gear looking down at someone who isn't.
  11. Bike vs rider? .... Mind there have plenty moments when I've been certain my steed has been working against me
  12. Horses for courses. As much as it may not be about the bike, it also pays to not underestimate riding the right bike for your riding. If it weren't so much about the bike, then he would race a cyclocross bike instead of a carbon big travel DH rig. Not to say ones better than the other, but anyone rides whatever is a good fit for them, so to an extent it is about the bike.
  13. Check the label, often these have acetone in. Not good for your paint job in the long term.
  14. Based on what? The time on the result sheet? It's not greyhound racing at the track, there are tactics at play. Road racing is a team sport, well done to these ladies and their respective times but they didn't race against the Elite ladies, finish en klaar!
  15. Use a normal car wax/shampoo and stay away from sunlight or dish washer kinds of cleaners. For really grimy/muddy parts like the cassette I spray on some Prepsol or Powasol before washing the bike and let it dry overnight before lubing again. I use a pressure cleaner now a days because it is a water saver, but I keep it at least just over a meter from the bike and don't spray near bearings and seals. Occasionally I'll use a polish like Multitergent or Red Hot products, although I'm not keen on their aerosol packaging. Generally I never use the bike washes at races unless I do rinse the bike off myself when it's quiet. Largely because with there being a volume of bikes there to be cleaned the job is only half done and also because the washers have the pressure nozzles far too close the bikes, as well as squirting the degreaser everywhere including the frame.
  16. Congrats man, solid result all round.
  17. **** me but this is entertaining
  18. http://www.sascoc.co.za/2011/11/17/sascoc-and-cycling-sas-positive-meeting/
  19. Both of them do yeah, catering to different fitness levels as well.
  20. Was there earlier today, everyone's still doing setup. Still, looks to be some interesting stuff. Things I notice being unpacked/setup was the unicycle stand, Shimano's Di2 equipped bike, First Ascent with some really cool event shirts, the usual bling bits and bikes and Tread stand with a rather striking backdrop if I do say so Nearly forgot, the Giant stand looks like it could be spectacular, one dude there was wrenching a carbon XTC 29er. What a beaut frame. Perhaps JurgenBike should stop by there
  21. Bugger that, do the Wanderers or Old Parks time trials once a week or so and thats enough running for me. Tried a run from the office in Houghton home in Olivedale once, 25kays give or take. Managed fine, but cried in the shower afterwards while Carte Blanche reruns played on the telly.... Props to you, but y'all can keep your bloody marathon foot plodding wot wot! Just needed to get that out
  22. Just Riding Along .... ie: I was 'just riding along' and my frame broke in three. J
  23. Looks like some of the designers were hanging out at Ibiza Zeiss optics though, which is impressive on it's own.
  24. As you say, pack it and see if you're comfy. It's a good pack and probably perfect for commuting, bear in mind though you'll sweat with any pack on your back. I've had most of them and they all end up with the same thing.
