  1. Sorry to hear, where did this info come from? The standard supply is 11spd, but their design is compatible with the DT Swiss Ratchet, which does allow swopping out with different freehand, including a microspline freehub and cassette. @pedal menace https://bicyclepower.co.za/shop/exar-wheels/exar-carbon-fiber-wheelset-pro-gravel-series-2025-disc-brake-45/#:~:text=Table_title: More Powerful Design Table_content: header: |,GR45 Pro: Clincher tire%2C tubeless tire | https://support.magene.com/hc/en-us/articles/26100814823193-What-Cassettes-are-compatible-with-the-EXAR-Carbon-Fiber-Wheelset
  2. As far as something like stage 6 goes. I think it depends on what your riding background is coming into gravel. Generally. In my experience, those with an MTB base enjoy it. Those coming from a road base, not so much.
  3. Alloy rims, Oli upspecced his with cSixx wheels afaik.
  4. Bloody beaut! … That the new wireless GRX Di2?
  5. Hey PM, I do some occasional stuff with the brand and their agents in SA, Bicycle Power. https://bicyclepower.co.za/ Exar is the wheel brand of Magene who do computers, radars, power meter cranks, pedals etc. On the spec side of the wheelset, they’re a high modular carbon, flat blade Pillar spokes into a straight pull hub. Which runs on a DT Swiss type internal. The rims are a 25mm internal width, 32mm external and are 45mm deep. And are UCI approved/certified, if that’s of consideration. Additionally they’re tubeless ready. rrp is approx 16/17k afaik Kent Main has been racing them and has some worthwhile feedback overall. I’ve not had much time with unfortunately, but haven’t found anything to nit pick over.
  6. Yeah this the posturing bs that irks me no end, and they’re ALL the fkn same at the end of the day. The lanes weren’t not being used, they actually were being utilised, including by students in the Braam precinct. Metro were even fining/removing vehicles parking in them. It started to go pear when the lanes were used as political football when Mashaba came in and canned the entire thing. To quote “maybe when all the roads are tarred” Brain dead and disconnected. Rant off.
  7. Great report by RJ! That was a proper showing, great result for Terlouw with a solid racing field. Likewise the ladies field showed some proper depth. Top of Jan Smuts has prove itself as the spot to catch the racing and best chance of seeing the decisive moves in action. Was pleasantly surprised at the number of riders overall as well, not quite the downturn as many predicted. Next year without the G20 circus we should see a more accurate attendance.
  8. There’s no live feed other than the social updates, which have been pretty good. Highlights packages will be aired.
  9. How? It’s in the boldest text in the main part, I even picked up on my phone and managed to avoid the inconvenience.
  10. Nah, he imports the Curve bikes and offers a variety of builds, including some other brands. I think it’s a great endorsement that he recognises horses for courses and can back those up with for his customers.

  12. Looking more and more like an edition of MAD’s Spy vs SPY. For sure Strava’s actions beggar belief. But both Strava and Garmin essentially need each other really. The argument about who needs the other more is reductive. And at the end of the day that isn’t best for us as consumers, as a whole. Keeping in mind Garmin also have some shortfalls on the customer service/experience side.
  13. Doubtful, in all likelihood you will have to have it shipped. They won’t be able to board the plane with it. The guys at Trailwolf had this same issue building up an Amflow DJi for a client. Everything bar the battery was brought in by air freight. Could be worth speaking to them to get an idea of the process. Alan or Jacques - 0100070660
  14. Wholly underrated bike. Those 120s are a joy, one of the most balanced feeling bike I’ve ridden. Capable an versatile, well suited to the mix of riding at an event like Berg and Bush. This has a decent build and suspension spec, so if you ever wanted to upgrade/change frames you’d already have a good baseline. Wheelset may be a bit underwhelming overall, but in my experience they do fine.

    Zini Roam

Omnico own Zini, it’s an old South African brand they rebooted. Some great options and they’re great looking bikes that work well. Their hardtails do well. GT unfortunately were put on ice by Pon Group. So no more GT.
  16. Hakahana was ahead of its time, Johan had a great location. He and a few others put together literal world class trails and made history with our first SA Champs. The support, dismal. From industry, punters and federation. Those who did bother to pull finger had an incredible time.
  17. @Matt and @Nick should be able to assist and add clarity. Best of luck.
  18. Read Seven Deadly Sins, my pursuit of Lance Armstrong; by David Walsh. Sombre stuff. You’ll be adding time 😋 “I thought of people like Oakley’s athlete liaison, Stephanie McIlvain, who was clearly the victim of bullying and intimidation and never did talk for fear of losing a job she used to support a disabled child”
  19. Oh, mistaken identity then. Two different Ian Smith’s. Sorry dude.
  20. So every athlete there not on the podium is there for a jol? Maybe some some ‘officials’ but not self funded riders/support staff.
  21. Interesting. It’s a topic covered across professional sport, seen Eugene Oppelt discussing it a few times and take a very proactive approach. Would be interested to hear a CSA take on it, like from @ians H2Sport the Technical Director/Convenor of Selectors? Or is that woke 🤷🏻‍♂️
  22. Solid distribution, ensures availability, price point and they’re a generally a good dependable all rounder tyre. There may be better tyres around, but by far many of them don’t hit all the above. So for the average consumer it’s an easy choice.
  23. I’m not ‘defending the oke’, actually read what I said.
  24. It’s a screen grab of an Insta story, lasts a whole 24 hours. While it’s not cool, it’s also really not worth the projection, but people will revel in using it, as we see here already.
