  1. Sorry to see the Seattle go, they support cycling as well and the coffee isn't actually half bad. Plus they're consistent across their different spots. We've been meeting up at Ground a bit further down towards Avianto. About 2km from Bidon. It's also a lot more chilled and less chaotic than Bidon.
  2. They've had an association with MTB for a while now, we did some stuff with their Volvo dealers a few years back, and they had a partnership with Arian Luthi at some point. Great to see a brand being both consistent and proactive. Good sponsorship lesson there.
  3. Jeez ... That's decent. Diesel? Been bloody impressed with the Suzuki Swift as well, albeit a compact hatch. Considering the Urban Cruiser/Brezza SUV from them, also bloody good fuel efficiency. Love my Pajero iO, but it's not that light on fuel. Squeeze 12km to a litre on a good day.
  4. How many km to the litre is that roughly? ... I'm lazy mathamatically!
  5. Still early in the year, so finalising details and contracts with sponsors will need to be done before signing off and making new kit.
  6. They're pretty much on par, in fact I'd say the less touristy MBombela region has cheaper accomodation options than Paarl. Everyone has to travel at some point, last year it was Swellendam in the Western Cape. Which was quite a trip for Gauteng and beyond.
  7. The list of those with the capacity, ability and funds is minimal, more likely nil. Also I'd imagine the crew would like to bow out and keep the memory in the spirit of the original event.
  8. Both are incredible, but Berg & Bush gets my vote. Costing, vibe and ride experience. Not as packed as Sani, which I like. TBH you can't go wrong with either, comes down to what you want specifically.
  9. Sad, especially for the surrounding communities. Supremely difficult to ensure viability in the current climate without a headline sponsor, and even then. Cautiously optimistic that someone/something shall step into the void here.
  10. "Dorel Industries has completed the sale of Dorel Sports, its bicycle segment, to the Dutch mobility group, Pon Holdings. For the sale price of US $810 million, Pon now has brands including Cannondale, Schwinn, GT, Caloi and Mongoose in its hands. The transaction consisted of 100% of the shares of its indirect wholly-owned subsidiary companies comprising Dorel Sports as well as certain related assets. From the sale, Dorel Industries received net proceeds of approximately US $735 million, which will be paid in the form of a special dividend of US $12.00 per share." https://www.bike-eu.com/market/nieuws/2022/01/dorel-sports-officially-in-hands-of-pon-holdings-10142026
  11. Was there little over a month ago, can echoe what’s been said already. https://www.news24.com/ride24/riding/suikerbosrand-is-where-gauteng-cyclists-go-for-safe-and-majestic-rides-20211227
  12. Selling a MIO in the classifieds for decent price, has just about every function to suit your requirements.
  13. As with most other Ians of the world, I’ll lay odds he absolutely will not have the courage of his convictions in person. Keyboards are like alcohol, a lot of people can’t hold them well and it often reveals their true character. Had the good fortune to encounter an Ian at a braai some years back. Very different having a bek when called out and within eye contact.
  14. Triathlon doesn't fall under CSA.
  15. Certainly priced on the high side, but not an outrageous price for the bike, considering the spec and condition. Caveats though, That size on a 26r, you're likely better off with a platform built around 29r wheels. It will fit better and you'll be more comfortable all round, which means you'll enjoy riding more and have a safer position on the bike. It is a dated model, if you start needing to service/replace parts you will have problems. Especially with the rear shock, those older DT Swiss nude shocks can be service intensive. Imho, at that budget you may just find a sweet deal on a more updated 29r carbon hardtail.
  16. Tecniblock, also ginger approved. Have also found that the Clicks in house brand is pretty good and well priced. Protip, kids version is identical and nearly 30 rondt cheaper.
  17. Oh, you using brakes now? .....
  18. No worries, I've already mapped out my tools to do the installation.
  19. Yip, albeit not entirely clear. Given it's on an open forum there will obviously be a broader discussion on the topic as well. Even some robust discussion that could be with some angst construed as arguing.
  20. Aus is 2022 World Road Champs. Wollongong, try saying that six times fast! Does look spectacular though.
