  2. This is what my mate has, nearly identical .... Triumph Tiger 800 xc Envy is a terrible thing! http://images.motorcycle-usa.com/PhotoGallerys/2011-Triumph-Tiger-800-1.jpg
  3. You taken it to the Classic Bikes show in Germiston? Last Sunday or Saturday of every month I think.
  4. Remember going through this release from CE ... “We picked them late last night so that they were nice and cold,” explained Meerendal cellar master Liza Goodwin. “Afterwards we’ll let them ferment for two days and we’ll bottle the wine on Wednesday.” This would require a process to stop the fermentation on Tuesday and the addition of some “normal mix” to make the wine less sweet – the short fermentation period would produce a “sweetish red”. http://www.treadmtb.co.za/absa-cape-epic-riders-wine-route/
  5. If you want a site that'll make you run to a corner for a front pant rummage .... http://www.bikeexif.com/ Consider yourselves warned !

  8. Man Evan, I hope you, Pura and the rest of the family can get some closure and this character is and remanded to proper custody. As a family you've all gone through more than enough!
  9. Did your supply line to Cycle Science dry up?
  10. Until vomit limit ..... Karkloof, Karkloof, Karkloof, Jonkershoek ...... If I had my way.
  11. Thought the OP clearly stated his case, then gets flamed for it with much assumption. Wether the failure is with the courier or not is irrelevant. The onus is on PlanetX to follow up with the couriers, who from the reading post, they PlanetX chose who to use, not the OP. They have not been following up properly for 18 days. And after numerous correspondence have been fobbing off the OP. I'd also strip my moer, justifiably so, and have done before with online orders previously. Local and international.
  12. There is an easy solution ..... just give a soft hoot at the start and let people know you're there. Just a 'hey I'm here' hoot. Not a 'I'm having a firstworldproblem' testosterone tirade of leaning on the horn. Conversely when riding, just be aware of whats behind you if you're at the back and say 'car back' to move over and give space. Instead of being the bigger box and throwing 'the finger' to the motorist you perceive to be a box. It really is that simple, both ways.
  13. Incredible bikes, bought out by Trek in the 90's. Unfortunately they stopped in 2009ish. Would still grab one if I found one at the right price, really were a standard apart from the rest.
  14. I reckon a lot of these newbies register after doing google searches for specific items. I've had three enquiries on a helmet I'm selling. All 3 three seem legit, all three are new member registrations, one is being considered. Bit more difficult assessing someone if they're outside of your area.
  15. Two of ours went walk about as well but we found them shortly after with no issues. Although there are another two unaccounted for. There were loads of bikes being left at lost and found, your best bet would be to contact AB directly with the same description.
  16. Many of these characters are part of the root cause of many of the current issues and individuals around today. To properly tackle the effects of doping, the sport needs to go back 20 odd years with a carving knife for the skeletons, otherwise all that's happening is a band aid over a festering wound.
  17. Been there. Winters in the UK may be harsher, but our general climate varies much more. Try a KZN Midlands or Lesotho winter, as brutal as anything else out there. Have had mates out from Germany, UK etc ... they all say the winters aren't that bad, but it's colder than they expect and the variation in climate is a bit of a mind **** Joburg's climate is fantastic though, we really don't have that bad a winter. Although after 5 good winters some people are reckoning this could be a chilly very dry one.
  18. Buffs are incredible and unobtrusive, one under the helmet and one round the neck that can be pulled over the mouth if need be. Gillets/wind vests are also inexpensive and lightweight. I can't handle booties, so put a sandwich bag over my socks before putting shoes on, works a charm. Had a pair of fleece lined gloves with a plastic/vinyl cover on the outside, also worked well. Generally I've found the best cold weather gear is stuff that isn't too bulky and provides more wind protection than padding.
  19. It's also a risk vs reward factor, you may lose time on a B line but you may also lose the race on an A line if you're not 100% comfortable racing it. So nothing to do with technical proficiency really, but rather analysing when to ride what. Case in point, Anika Langvad took fourth at the recent WC, there were occasions she took a B option on Over the Top. Jolanda Neff nearly took herself out of the race completely by crashing in the rock garden at the bottom of Corkscrew. All the while there were also riders taking all the A lines but were at the back end of the field. So no, the "technical proficient and fit rider should podium and not the fit strong rider that has below par technical skills" doesn't always ring true. Such is the relative unpredictable nature of XCO. Theres nothing hard and fast about it, other than it's hard and fast.
  20. Oh the Rise wheelset ... tis a ting of beauty I tell you!
  21. Ok, well that's outside of anything you quoted my post on. Yet you answered your own question, yes? I'd say there are chancers in every industry, especially when it comes to servicing (motor) bikes/cars etc...
  22. Actually the number of fake/pirate parts out there are scary. Especially for motorbikes. So yes, while complete 'fake' bikes aren't out there, there's plenty pirate parts floating around, because that's where the money is. R800 for a top end MTB tyre with Kevlar what not etc .... R2000 for an average motorbike tyre that still has basic construction. The other day I had to stop in at Honda to have a puncture repaired, new tube plus an hours labour. Total of R458 incl Vat. An estimate on a centre stand was around R3500, excl labour. All it is, is tubular steel that works on a tensioned spring under the bike. No titanium, no carbon, vokal bling. That's just on a bog standard workhorse like a Transalp, don't even start on the more exotic high end stuff. Like servicing costs on even an older model Ducati are enough to make your wallet bleed through your anus! So to a large extent while the costs on top range bicycles are high and very subject to supply and demand, it's also very much relative, I feel anyway.
  23. Point 8 seems to contradict points 6 and 7 ? Just be clear, is the item a fake or not? So by extension, the assertion by ASG, the bike shop and Pinarello is also false? All the poor legalese is starting to remind me of Nkandla.
  24. The law is pretty clear, there is no legal way to sell fake/counterfeit goods, even if you tell the buyer as such. With the years experience in this store and even just general common sense, I find it incredibly hard to believe that someone can run a business selling counterfeit/fake goods and not know the moral and legal implications.
  25. Pretty common with graphics and images. I save RAW files as an uncompressed .TIFF to retain resolution and/or with layers for editing. Totally different scenario though ...
