  1. Apparently you are supposed to put the rear in first and some how bend the saddle to insert the front. Tech Tuesday: Why Is It So Hard To Reinstall Saddle Rails?
  2. Back in the day we had a gas geyser. Water is almost instantly hot. I really like this setup considering everything else. We now have solar for a good few years. Solar works great in summer, in winter you need eskom. This is the drawback for me. Hence why I like the gas option. Then my wifes cousin sells and installs insta hot systems. He reckons the unit uses far less electric than a std geyser.
  3. I am still running a 26er so now and again. Actually sorry I sold my Commencal Meta SX!
  4. mine had 7ah batteries and replaced them with 9ah. Would of loved to gone to 12ah, but there was no stock at the time. Did the same with the alarm system.
  5. Play with your tyre pressure until you find what works well. For different conditions and trails, I will adjust what I think is correct.
  6. I dont know of any trails where you get medical assistance or recovered. You are left on your own. It is handy to have er24 number. Even 4x4 courses do not have recovery vehicles on hand if you get stuck.
  7. it doesnt matter if you pay. You still get hounded! I had this incident a few weeks ago. Told the Marshall to go check the honesty box.
  8. absolutely. When lockdown hit, it was all good and well, 3 weeks in and I realised we need to make business. Chatted to the boss, organized permits for trading. If it wasnt for that minute bit of business we most likely would be closed and me sitting without a job. I can tell you post covid, or 2022 rather has been an extremely tough one. The business is not there! The stock is not available. The factories are still are not making/producing or supplying the same quantities or variety. Instead old dead stock that didnt sell pre covid has now been pushed forward and selling slowly. We had old stock in our storeroom which is depleted and prior it didnt move at all. Then we get some clients who come in and they are like why is there no stock? Is it still covid? Covid is finished! When are you ordering stock and so on and so on. I cant deal anymore LOL. Funny thing is the little stock that I order and receive( a 1/4 of what I order as there is no stock available), gets sold out within a week. Every little bit of business is appreciated and I try my utmost to find stock for clients but its a literal dead end. If I had the finances I would try and import myself. I made some hard decisions financially on a personal level and hopefully by the end of this year I will be in the black. Then my wife decided her(our) business needs to grow and we now have a shop in Simons Town! Well done wife!!! No formal work for 20 years and now she is feeling a days work. This year is gonna shock alot of people. There are extremely tough times ahead, and I do think that the recession has arrived even though still early stages.
  9. Bikeshield is the best locally. Otherwise invisiframe. Only other one I would consider is AMS.
  10. LOL, just realised, I dont have wanted ads, but have alerts for what I am interested in.🙈
  11. I have a few wanted ads, but very few and far between for what I am looking for. And then the price is also not what I want to pay, so instead of lowballing I ignore the ad. I am patient for when the right item comes along. Mainly because I have a few bikes to ride, and I am trying to scratch an itch but also holding restraint.

  14. This is why I cant support local bike shops on this level or even buy parts with the overinflated prices. I import most of what I need, Service most of the stuff myself excluding suspension. Years ago a derailleur hanger was broken by an extremely well known shop. They used epoxy to try and fix it. Luckily my friend saw it before the bike was used and took it back. Fortunately for them they sorted it out, but why even go that route to start off with. There is a reason why Honesty is the Best Policy. Many stores dont believe in honesty yet they still rake in the business, whereas those that do just make it month to month. Hopefully you wont have anymore hurdles and they can manage to sort your bike out in the next couple of days.
  15. Thats a tough ask if you are from cape town. Lots of trails around but, not the type of trails you looking for. I know Helderberg had/has accomodation on the mountain so that puts you right on the trail. Other than that you gonna have to travel a fair bit if you want gravity orientated trails. Best bet would then be Garden route. I cant say I know of anything closer.
  16. I would go with south industries. They local, and offer a lifetime replacement warranty. I have a set, cant compare them to another set of carbon wheels though, but they are strong enough.
  17. If you dont find locally then bikediscount or bike24 would be an option
  18. Grassy Park is pretty fancy!! a nature reserve, massive houses and massive plots. I think there is even waterfront property. It also has a business hub that sees to the needs of the residents meaning they dont have to travel out of the area
