  1. I recently received a bunch of lowball offers on a specific item that I had listed. My price was fair - and actually cheaper than most, since I wanted to move along and already purchased a new version of said part. I understand cheeky offers - but as seller, I saw myself as being extremely courteous when answering "no thank you" when someone offered me 40% less than asking price, rather than telling them to bugger off. Bedside manners will make a cheeky offer go far - so I would like to see the interactions and actual way the offers were presented. Just remember - there's cheeky, there's lowball, and there's rude.
  2. Credit where it's due. Evo bikes has some top notch service. Its easy to complain, but we normally just let good service be, so with that in mind I think I'll drop a quick review on here. I had a question re shipping prices before ordering that was promptly responded to, and the items I ordered on Tuesday evening was dropped at my office first thing this morning. That's fast by any standard, and the prices on my items (brake pads, sealant and chain lube) were the best from any online store in SA. Well done Evo, pleasant experience indeed.
  3. Helderberg is only 550m-ish from Hanger to the tower... I would have to do this 3 times in one go to re-ride Saturday... Once you have a kid or two, you don't have that kind of time anymore. dadbod and dadfitness is a real thing.
  4. Seriously, this event had all the the makings of a legendary race. Great - challenging trails, epic setting, nice start venue, lekker conversations, goeie gees and good logistics (shot Chris!). The climb to 5 was a royal beatdown - like being bodyslammed by hulk hogan... a few times. I reckon 4 should have been the final stage with 5 moved forward to 3 and 3 to 4, meaning the last climb is not SO rough. But really - that's just nitpicking. By the last climb I was bleeding from my eyes and my legs had the Demogorgon visibly moving under my skin. Thanks to my riding partner Bos to keep me going and Pottie for pretending to be slightly tired...it got me to the top. That rock chute was fantastic - and I don't want to ride it again this year.
  5. Never in my life have I cramped as hard or as continuous... Hells bells. Fun day out nonetheless. Thanks Chris!
  6. @bos we take a steak and some hanepoot. Should sort out all nutrition and heat needs
  7. Thanks gents, will have a look at them. Not keen for a drive, so will stay close
  8. Hey guys, I'm in Plett for a few days this week and I have my bike with me. Keen to go for a ride. Can anyone direct me where to go for some gnar. Preferably fast and tech trails, close by. And it needs to be safe to ride solo in the week. Thanks!
  9. Honestly, R80k for the cheapest bike in the range. And here I almost started to think Spaz was maybe not so elitist anymore. It's good looking, but I really can't see you justifying that kind of money on a bike. Unless you are like Richey Rich - rich.
  10. At 1.7m I can't imagine the M being too large for you? Sure you are right on the border. Maybe a shorter stem and moving seat forward on the rails?
  11. Mine. Mine. Mine. Prototype Silverback Enduro frame XL - currently on 140mm (also adjustable to 150mm), Can't divulge too many details - but it rides ridiculously well. 12. Silverback Slade Trail and Comps are back in stock in the last week!!!!!
  13. Congrats on that weight! If you want to shed some more - and improve riding experience at the same time, I would upgrade the brakes. Every now and then a previous gen XT or even XTR Race set comes by on classifieds for cheap as chips and they will drop a few 100grams. Brakes makes a massive difference to riding experience.
  14. Digging the purple grips - great match and lekker build!
  15. Good luck! Patience is your friend. And good beer.
  16. a wire brush, about 6 sheets of sandpaper, vinyl masking decals, a roll of masking tape, good paint (primer, colour and clear varnish), around 8 hours of sanding and polishing, masking and painting, so essentially patience and then good car polish to finish it off.
  17. I have to agree - he should have contacted you before posting here. I've had to reshape based on an unhappy customer, so know the feeling. I've also been staring at your work long enough to know that this is not the norm. Maybe a good idea to contact the gent's dad to sort out from your side?
  18. Sjo, that is rough looking. Unfortunately in this case there can not be two sides to a story - if that's the quality of the finished product, and it was paid for, I would absolutely lose it if it was my bike. Those decals were auto traced in something like illustrator - it does that if you just hit auto trace and keep the results. without actually adjusting the lines and checking against the original... Sjo, come on Bogus, you surely must be able to spot the issues from a mile away - redo the bike for the gent.
  19. Stripped, then hand polished and painted my Slade. Then promptly sold it before getting to build it again.
  20. I stripped the Slade down, and polished/repainted then promptly sold it.
  21. Hey guys, Google has been no help so far - and I can't find satisfactory answers from the interwebs otherwise - so maybe one of you can help. I have a pair of bmx/dirt jump cranks - Primo Hollowbites that I'm wondering if they will fit onto my enduro bike. My jumpbike is threaded BB - and you can run gears on jumpbikes easy. but then need N/w up front... So: 1. will these fit on my enduro rig? 2. do you get N/w chainrings to fit single bolt bmx style cranksets? 3. Any good reasons not to? 4. good reasons to try other than being stronger than the hulk and great looking too? 5. Oh yes - chainring offset of jump bike vs boost enduro mtb offset - huh?
