  1. And the whole world swears by Stans rims while workshops generally swear at them
  2. The good quality ones are fairly expensive (around R50 retail) but they last longer so it's worth it.
  3. LOL that this is even a question. Only red and black Pro4 hubs have arrived in SA at this point. The rest of the colours should be available soon.
  4. In hard braking scenarios: to counteract the body pivoting over the braking points on the wheels (thus going over the bars) move your body low and back as far as you can. Push your feet through the pedals (with your chest just about on the saddle). You are effectively pushing your body weight through the tyre contact patch with the ground with much improved braking stability and you'll soon realise why your front rotor is larger.
  5. SS champs isn't for the hardcore manne. It's for those who don't take riding a mtb too seriously. I mean there's the compulsory beers (and sometimes shooters) during the "ride/walk/crawl". The fact that the entire field ends up on the podium means it's not really a competition.
  6. Happens with any dropper. You are basically ovalising the post so the internals will stick.
  7. Mark I tried to steer you towards the blue right up till the last moment
  8. They are my worst purchase ever. They are much worse than any Avids (or any other brake) I have ever owned. I still have the set I bought for my wife because my conscience won't allow me pass on this pos to my worst enemy. I still have nightmares about all the tech trails the wife rode with those things.I couldn't understand why she had become such a slow rider every time a bit a gravity appeared. I mean she has podiumed at the Mankele Avalanche before... Then one day I had to test ride her bike to adjust gears
  9. If you decrease stem length you usually go for wider bars to pull your upper body forward into the same position. It's usually a little bit personal preference and a lot of trial and error.
  10. Besides the position of the shifter - you might have a worn/tight gear cable. You won't believe how many bikes we get with this problem. Guys are actually straining the shifters when changing gears. On my bike I'm changing cables at least twice to three times a year.
  11. JRA = just riding along?
  12. Yip,the DVO is still slightly cheaper than the Pike. Good review Iwan. I love my Diamond especially as a biggish trail rider.
  13. Thanks! Grommet is way too cute to be an evil kitty - even though he is a ginger.
  14. If any Spruit riders saw our kitten Grommet last Saturday morning running around the car park could you please let us know. Some of the TrailHead regulars who love him have raised a decent reward for info leading to his recovery. Thanks guys! http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd175/Seanf1art/GROMMET_zpsxvm1iurc.jpg
  15. LOL Really, so for 29er wheels you have to have a hub with a larger flange to decrease spoke length? And which hubs are these I wonder...? Yes... physics proves that a larger wheel (with same rim material, profile & width and spoke diameter) will be more flexible than a smaller wheel. But there are a number of 29" trail rims on the market. Add decent spokes and good builder. Sorted.
  16. No issues to lace any rim & hub combination. Just have to check the number of holes are the same.
  17. I'll give you a tour of Hakahana's best flowing trails Since we haven't ridden together for years.
  18. I lost 4cm of bone from my forearm once...
  19. It's usually just a case of replacing the cable and housing.
  20. We will be getting them. We stock everything cSixx but the only ones we've recieved so far were prototypes.
