  1. Sorry ! Want was that ?
  2. And sheeple will still enter and pay only to be told closer to the start date its been postponed due to COVID
  3. This is just another avenue for them to collect data on their customers to reduce their risk portfolio and in return they'll throw a few points your way - This is not a new product they offering, with Disco the product is their members. Allowing you to earn points on strava contradicts their policy of not accepting workout data via 3rd party apps - So what is strava if its not a 3rd party app ? And if Strava is now acceptable then why not Zwift or TR or other training apps, which in my view are far more secure in terms of data integrity I am so gatvol of Discovery offering all these little free trinkets to improve your health, improve your driving, improve your finances, and then still up your med aid premiums 9 or 10 % per year. Give us a % kickback on our monthly premiums once we hit diamond .... Now ! there's real value. Keep your free coffees and other BS
  4. Just chatted with them on their FB page Annual passes are now on sale where you normally pay - 1200 ronds for MTB & Running - 800 ronds running only - 600 ronds kids under 12. Very reasonable me thinks if you are a weekly / monthly rider / runner
  5. Never seen that section as bad as that ! - When did you take the pics ? we rode there 28th Nov it was wet but not muddy at all
  6. Yes this entrance (as far as i know) is still open but rumour has it - it will be closed soon. The new entrance off Marlboro is far better though, even if you coming from Edenvale side The best way to find it is with waze or google maps - search for Taroko farms You drive through the new gate and pay at the container in the parking lot - the place has changed a lot, its the new home for Fourways Farmers market and you pay 10 ronds entrance fee just to have a coffee after your ride - which sucks. People who park at Falmingo shopping centre ride to the new entrance along the new development roads in Linbro Park, they have built proper cycle paths on the new main road which is lekka and safe with lots of cyclist and runners who use it
  7. Was also charged 10 ronds to get a coffee - the guys at entrance said they have nothing to do with the park as the market is a separate business and the entrance fee is 10 ronds. Now we will park at Flamingo shopping center and ride in, i'm sure the coffee shops there will appreciate the business
  8. My wife has a FitBit Alta HR - Can anyone tell me if this can be used to track exorcise sessions for HR for Disco points - I've tried everything can't seem to get it to track an exorcise session.
  9. Lets not forget this is a gravel gruppo, not a bling gruppo for your road bike - How does one satisfy roadies wannabe MTBers or MTBers wannabe roadies. But it is the only 1X13 on offer amongst the mainstream makes. Another 1st for Campy. For the purists its a thing of beauty - mmmm maybe the crank could have had a bit more thought - But hey once its been through lots of gravel mud and rain it will at least still work like a swiss watch. In my opinion if you wanna ride offroad then ride a proper MTB or stay on the road. then you wont have to buy this fugly gruppo as some have called it
  10. For me COLNAGO has heritage in virtually every single model - there is always a story / rider / race that is behind the design going back many years. Other brands build great bikes but no pedigree or heritage - I suppose the closest would be TREK with the LA era and Spez with the Epic. I actually built a Spez Reubaux the other day, after i rode it i wanted to keep it - My COLNAGOS were not happy though !
  11. Value is in the eye of the beholder and I suppose its what a collector is prepared to spend to have a particular model in their collection. I have 5 in my collection and would rather keep them if i couldn't get more than 170K in total. COLNAGO will soon launch the V3R TDF replica in Yellow and in white in limited numbers - Purists will sell a kidney to own one of those. Its the same as the C40 in World Champion colors it would demand i far higher price than a normal C40 (Luckily I already have one waiting to get built)
  12. Thats unique - I've always known there are Jackal in the area from the bird kills i see on the trails, nice to hear there are pups so they are breeding - Hopefully when night rides return we can get to see some African grass owls again. I have also seen African Scops Owls on night rides
  13. Just putting this out there I run both TR Beta & Zwift off Win10 laptop, cast wirelessly to HD TV, Trainer connects through Ant+ to the laptop. I use Iphone 6 plus for music and Zwift companion app on the trainer the laptop is my work laptop I work from home office so i'm always connected to work via VPN Used to have lots of connections issues with both apps not doing what they supposed to - companion app would alos never connect - spent many hours trying to get things to work properly The problem ended up being the VPN connection - when i disconnected my VPN and worked on Wifi locally all my problems went away - So if you having issues and you work on VPN make sure its disconnected when using the training apps
  14. I have Cyclelab, CWC, Evo all open on different tabs - I finished my order and paid - Evo is still searching for the 1st item even after refreshing and deleting cookies - Their site has always sucked at speed - Obv nothing has changed
  15. Hey EvoBikes - If you reading this - WTF are you going to sort the speed that your site loads at - Searching for stuff reminds of dial up speeds and waiting for paint to dry.
  16. Price fixing is when there is collusion between competitors to keep prices high. RRP's are set by an OEM and/or importer who has built in an acceptable margin chain to satisfy their network and the price that they believe their products should be benchmarked. This concept is not price fixing, It's more to protect the brand and the consumer in ensuring the retailer isn't ripping off the consumer and destroying the retail potential of the products.
  17. Absolutely correct. Currently in USA there is a huge lawsuit going on between farmers and John Deere for the right to repair. It seems JD are going to be on the losing end here. In Europe OEM's by law have to provide or make available all tech manuals, tech training, specialized tooling to any repair institute. Of course its not for free and authorized dealers get dealer discounts and others get full list price but at least its accessible by them. times are changing, time for OEM's and Importers to wake up.
  18. To put a bit more perspective on this Importer -> Dealer (LBS) -> Consumer question. OEM brands almost always have an importer in various countries - The Importers agreement almost always has a condition that the importer is not allowed to sell direct to consumer. Why ? Well the importer does not have the geographical footprint to harness market volumes of the brand, they do not have the manpower to handle after sales service and retailing is just not their business. the business model of an importer is very different from a retailer business model, you cant be both. If you try be both one or the other will suffer at some point. The problem with this business model is the OEM & Importer are too far away from their target market (consumer) and have to rely on retailer (LBS) for service levels & product availability. Well we all know the crappy service levels of most retailers - so the brand suffers as a result - they don't keep stock, staff are clueless on the brand and technically they not up to speed on the brand technology. So yes why should a consumer be forced to order through a retailer. Well the bulk of the importers turnover is from the retailer and if the importer starts retailing to the consumer he is effectively competing against his own customers. TREK & Spez tried to change this with a certain amount of success by opening up their own concept stores - But in the background its still the same setup - There is an importer and a retailer in the margin chain, the service levels of the retailers are however better because they are focused on one brand, but the lack of choice like a LBS who is mulitbranded is the downside, and of course both these brands have a vast range to warrant a successful business model. There is no silver bullet solution to satisfy both the retailers and consumers - and DT Swiss brand is just no big enough to go the concept store route, so they have to rely on retailers for the majority of their market, that small portion of business they lose direct to consumer is considered acceptable in the bigger picture. What does need to change though, is the connection of Brand (Importer) to the consumer, especially those of us that repair & service products outside the norm of retailers. Which in my view is a bigger market than we think. As an importer i would be tapping into this market. Starting a Q&A forum like this is a good start - Joe public can now at least communicate with people that know the product. Hopefully the importer is open to providing Joe public with tech advice, Ass & repair instructions as well as spare part manuals. The next step is to give the consumer more choice by publishing your RRP and the ability to order direct online. This gives the importer complete control of the retail price and stops retailer pricing your products out of the market. So as a consumer i check your price against my retailer and if its more or less the same i'll get it from the retailer, if its completely out of line i'll order it online. Yes more work, more logistics, more admin for the importer - but you retaining the retail margin in return and you retaining a happy consumer = repeat business. We started this in our industry - Our customers are paying the same price they would through a retailer but are far happier because they were able to order direct from importer. Kind of boggles the mind but it works and proves that generally consumers complaints are more about the retailer than the product.
  19. I'm talking about special tooling required to service your products not spares. I get the whole importer / dealer sales channel but at least make your specialized tools and prices accessible to joe public
  20. Haha - Good luck with trying to get DT Swiss specific tools from them, even aftermarket are like hens teeth and when you can get you will need to re-bond your house - Back in the day, even Johan Boringman from Yellow saddle had to initially make his own tools to service DT hubs. Personally and as a home mechanic i don't buy or work on any product or component that has DT Swiss on it, due to serviceability.
  21. I used similar kit from HOPE on my HOPE hubs - works perfect - But check if you need to re-dish your wheel with the Rapide kit - with HOPE you dont need to re-dish the rear wheel but you need to re-dish the front wheel
  22. Only use it for HR to get Disco points
  23. This could be the beginning of the end - We watched the developments up to the fence, only a matter of time before it starts in what we think is still a reserve. No doubt it will have a green belt area, but get prepared to start seeing high density units start going up. What a lot of people don't realize is the land actually belongs to M & T Developments since they bought out the portfolio of the Zendai group who had grandeur plans of a 85 billion ZAR mega city. These plans were scuttled thanx to Jo'gurg City Council, trying to force Zendai to include thousands of low cost houses in their plans which they refused to do. The FB pages of "Modderfontein Reserve" are certainly not run by AECI personal, i would hazard a guess its actually more M & T. So the animals are being donated to Rietvlei Nature Reserve by AECI Ltd whom i would assume are still the owners of the animals but not the land. My question is why ? - If, as the Modderfontein Reserve FB page indicates in various comments that the land is not earmarked for development - Then why move the animals ? M & T are in the business of developments, not building or maintaining reserves and with so much land available so close to business centers in a market desperate for housing its not rocket science
  24. WIN = Ant+.......Because it just works - BT will send you down a rabbit hole you won't get our of. IOS = BT.......Because it also "just" works and the idiots at Apple decided in their infinite wisdom not to include Ant+ in their devices or the ability to connect an Ant+ dongle.
