  1. http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/cape-epic-imposes-lifetime-bans-for-doping Doesn't apply to DG since it is not retrospective, but maybe he will take the hint anyway? or not?
  2. maybe the last 3 or 4 races he was OK. before that he was poor.
  3. thanks... I hear contradictory things about Emmerentia - believe plenty of swimming is going on there...
  4. Not dumb I wondered the same! Presumably Stephano Domencali's voted him the second best driver which earned him his score of 27... Also no ways Mark Webber could be considered the 6th best drvier of the year...
  5. good stuff. Their entry page is a little confusing.. Gives the option to enter an upcoming single race or the entire series. The upcoming single race option doesn't seem specific to any particular race though. As i clearly can't make the next one (16th) I decided to abort my entry until after this weekend... hopefully I won't forget to enter next week!
  6. Thanks for the headsup - I arrive in PE on the 22nd so will also do the tri on the 23rd!
  7. Any tips on where and when to do one this long weekend? I want to do a practice wetsuit swim.... Flexible on the where and when - just not early morning Sat or Sun as I have rides planned.
  8. neither really - scared of the clock ticking and that training flattened out the last 3 weeks instead of picking up... Its good though - I think a little fear can be healthy sometimes - hoping it will kick me into gear. 4 weeks of quality training still possible.
  9. Not nervous as all. More like **** scared.
  10. Why not grab yourself one of the 10 Rudi's up for 600 Rondelas today from ASG?
  11. Andrew just mis-used the word fatally - i also got a fright when I read that yesterday. he meant seriously. Strongs to the injured.
  12. suddenly I have a dull headache...
  13. What makes you say that... All indications from past SA dopers is quite the opposite.
  14. +1 On opening afternoons during the week in Dec.... At least a couple of days a week? Come on - otherwise I'll have to go play golf instead - and really my golf is so *** I may as well stay in the office!
  15. Its all good. Look, I may be making some incorrect assumptions here, but I believe this goes beyond an ethical issue to a legal one. there are laws against distributing controlled substances. If he actually had a doctor prescribe this for him perhaps its just a breach of ethics and not illegal, but I somehow doubt that is the case here. More likely he got it from a dodgy pharmacist or it was illegally brought into the country. ok in future pls call me Cat. Just because thats one of the very few names I've never been called...
  16. you say to me "because its not illegal sunshine" and I am the one being patronizing?? You have to drink quite a lot of cough mixture to die. EPO is an extrmely dangerous scheduled and controlled drug that will kill you very easily if you use it inapropriately. The families of many cyclists have found this out first hand.
  17. Did I say that? I already said that 2 yrs is the maximum he could have gotten. The supply chain was under discussion - I disagree with the notion that the athelete should be punished but those complicit in providing the drugs are not.
  18. its not illegal if its prescribed for a medical condition. if it was fraudulantly prescribed its illegal. if it was provided without a prescription thats also illegal. Come now its not that complicated...
  19. You think...? or you know? if you know have you passed precise details onto the authroities? if not why not?
  20. I'm sorry but that is such BS! EPO may or may not be readily available - but it is definately NOT legally available for the purpose DG used it. Someone broke the law and / or their ethical codes to get it to him - whether a doctor, pharmicist or someone brought it into the country illegally. 2 years is the maximum penalty that can be dished our right now, which really is a sad sad joke. I believe the proposal on the table is for this to be increased to 4 years... We are not going to see life time bans anytime soon (unless you are Lance that is).
  21. Top first post right there.

  23. I'm going to try catch this tomorrow. should be interesting... @ProfTimNoakes: UCT Medical School Centenary Debate - LCHF (Noakes) vs Prudent Diet (Rossouw) - live-stream on http://t.co/gsHjXvU8, 18h00 Dec 6th (Thurs).
  24. sure it comes back to cost / benefit I suppose. Probably if you have used proper power data this won't cut it, but for a newbie like me its interesting
  25. exactly. I don't know the voodoo it uses but it works it doesn't use heart rate but heart rate variability. Just anectdotally when riding with the thing if I freewheel after a really hard effort with my hear rate still at say 160, or freewheel after low effort with heart rate at say 120, the bloody think registeres 0 or close to zero watts.... Intuitively I agree it should not work - but it does to (to a certain level of accuracy anyway)
