  1. Yip, the honeymoon is over! But wait for it...
  2. My bad... Should have read the entire thread! Which Julbos do you have Dirtbreath?
  3. Anyone else tried Julbo? Their zebra lenses are great, photocromatic but only go from class 2 to 4, so not clear, but great for daytime riding.
  4. For R2k you can have my well looked after 1957 Royal Enfield.
  5. IQ of 2, I forgot to mention that he had finished his ride, and was quite happy for me to lose the chance of riding an awesome trail. you are right though, the value of his bike is irrelevant. I just reckon that it is a pretty cr@p attitude to have. But each to his own.
  6. My best thus far... Started the red route at Harkerville at about 16:30, 5 minutes in my chain breaks. Walk back to the parking lot and this old dude with a bike worth more than my car asks what the problem is. So I show him my broken chain. He then pulls out a quick link and tells me I need one of these, and that if I drive fast enough I'll be able to buy one in Knysna before the shops close. I made it just in time and R20 and 30km later I finished the route. Lost some of my faith in humanity that day.
  7. For you, R8500. But I'll throw in a Trek ex 9 for free...
  8. Thanks guys, looks like its the mavics, although now I'm worried about the roller bearing in the freehub!
  9. Shimano MT 65 or Mavic 717 on dt swiss 370 hub? Any help appreciated.
  10. We've just been talking about paying back prize money etc. If the test was done in august, how does that affect prior winnings like the epic pocket? Surely you can't pre-date it. I can understand recent winnings.
  11. Awesome, thanks guys.
  12. I'm thinking of spraying an old bike, but would need some decals printed. Anyone know where I can get this done?
  13. I ride a 2.5 on the front and a 2.1 on the back. The wider front tyre gives lots of grip while the fast rolling tyre at the back makes up for the weight of the front rubber!
  14. Also, how does one legally discriminate against job seekers who are smokers?

Being of a similar height, I would have thought you were a medium, 18.5".
  16. Does anyone have any experience with a smeg scm 1 espresso machine? My brother just bought one second hand and when we put it on it had an error message. Any ideas? On the subject of beans, I use the woolworths continental dark roast, R70 bucks for 500g, so good value, and great fresh beans, with a slight oily feel. Just the way I like it!
  17. Nice bike! My kinda ride, I've got a panasonic from a similar era. Enjoy.
  18. Earlier this year I rode chappies, then onto ou kaapse weg, where I met up with one of the pre-argus races that uses that route. Rode with a bunch for a while, at the bottom of the hill I ended up pulling one of the leading ladies on the home stretch. Didn't really think about this being much of an issue at all, just out riding a bike. I reckon you got a point about doing a race without paying though.
  19. Everyone, including Nishiki is entitled to their own opinion. There is NO right or wrong here, guys, like Mike who stand up to criminals are not trained for situations like this and as a result their actions should not be judged. However, that said, Nishiki is well within his rights to voice his opinion. What Mike did is an act of violence and if you cannot appreciate that then perhaps you are a victim of our much too violent society.
  20. Hey Robo-ox, I take exception to that! I was riding my DS MTB down the road yesterday. I also had a 4x4 driver hoot at me as he overtook me. It was a 'polite' hoot and I reckon he was just trying to say 'careful, coming past now'. So maybe not all 4x4 drivers are tools!
  21. I think its great that Mike stepped in to assist the victim. In addition to the force required to subdue a criminal, there is also the fight or flight response. I reckon in those situations you do what comes naturally, and that is use physical force. I detest violence, but understand it in these situations. I think I also get where Nishiki is coming from. When guys take pride in beating up the criminal or use it for bragging rights it becomes a problem. Criminal or not, when people take pleasure in inflicting pain and violence on another human being, you allow the thieves to take more than you possessions but also your humanity.
  22. Anyone else get hot flushes after drinking epic pro? When I've used it as a recovery drink, i.e. downing it, I've experienced a strange warmth in my face. I've heard its from one of the ingredients.
  23. Anyone else suffered from this? I've had this issue for a while now, thought it was from running down mountains, so cycled more with no improvement. Stopped cycling for two months, and have been running for the past two months without any pain. Rode yesterday, and guess what, the pain is back. Anyone know if this is a set up problem or whether it is simply an overuse issue? I'm planning to go for a bike set up to see if this helps. Thing is I've had my bike for a while with no problems until start of this year. Thanks.
  24. I think you should be asking 'why do we need to ride with xtr or x0 kit in the first place when slx is more than good enough?' That said, I often choose not to ride in tokai in the wet due excessive wear on my drivechain.
