  1. My Bike took me back home. There are cold beers at home ( not sure why I left then) The “ taste of the cradle” as I call it loop. Ride from home, do the fun singletrack section from where you turn left into the cradle proper from Beyers Naude. Then left at Kloofzicht cirle to meander back home.
  2. Sometimes, being off the bike makes one more appreciative of what we take for granted. I also missed Oom ben’s fall and hectic wound. Do It properly why don’t you. Good to see Fanie back on the bike too. Had a fairly intense week of work, and taking care of sick children. I did try and make time for cycling again, as I am over my medical issue. zwift has been great, and a sneaky Tuesday ride was great. Today, managed to get my work all sorted, which meant an early Friday, and what better way to celebrate than going to the pub riding your bicycle. What a stellar afternoon in the cradle.
  3. Zwiftinsider does a "steady wattage" test to compare bikes on Zwift. His tweet from yesterday: Kappa Quest Laps at steady 300w Tron: 17:05 Trek Supercalibre: 16:55 Canyon Grail: 16:49
  4. Four Hoursement Mega & Uber Pretzel PRL half & Full Ven Top still eludes me. ( Hopefully it france happens over a weekend when it's really cold) I have kicked the idea about to do Bikehub badgehunter meetups.
  5. Can you make a battery pack for fibre ont and wireless router? I will order 2 units if they are cheaper than the fodder currently on offer on Takelot.
  6. Just as I thought I'm on top of my route badges.... This satisfies the procrastinator in me, I have all the big route badges left over. Which I'm not super keen on.
  7. Decided on a sneaky lunch ride on Tuesday. Fielded some calls and sent some messages on the ride. But it certailnly helped.
  8. New World Day. https://youtu.be/sMKFxgVHWcg Going Live 2pm SAST. I'm working from home, so it's the perfect opportunity to test Zwifts servers for the New World Rush...... Dust off your virtual MTB's.... (Their route descriptions avtively talk about switching bikes en route...)
  9. So it’s not my coach, saying I should train more?
  10. Hmm, Too much testosterone. You are correct, they need to keep their politics out of the public, and take their aggression out on the pedals rather.
  11. Had a bit of an infection, so stayed off the bike since Tuesday. These pics are torture. Maybe tomorrow....
  12. Lets not forget the cradle loop. It free, its running mint at the moment, and you can decide to either hit it at gow till you blow, or just having fun out in the open. Best part, doesnt cost you a cent ( directly) I’d have to go with JCA12 and say Cradle moon with the missus, but seriously, try and rather ride at 2pm. You will have little traffic, the mornings are insane. Alternatively, hit the trails just after sunrise while the undead are still dormant because of the temps. Rule of thumb, the general cradle area is 3 to 5 degrees colder than the forecast, due to the low altitude ( the croc river flows through there)
  13. because this is too awesome to post in the Music thread. And because it is seriously awesome Brand Spanking new Black Keys.
  14. van gaalen has a great river section, if you go across the road to do the concrete strips tant miems, daggapad etc, you will hit some elevation, but its nice and tech. Combine the river with Greek church at van gaalen to get the best. But if you are going with someone they should show you the ropes at VG. Best part of van gaalens is finding the Ale house in the area afterwards for some craft and pizza. As for Howick, I have a mate that stays in Hilton, so we normally crash at his house. I have heard good things about 11 Karkloof (search on google) close by the trail network.
  15. We spent 10 Days down in the howick area, where we rode every day we were down there and it felt like too little time. If it's flow you are after... that's the place to go.
  16. My 8gs, much too vanilla for such shenanigans... However, my little one walks into school like a superhero when I drop him off in the mornings.
  17. if you want to avoid the masses, I would suggest an afternoon ride, or go straight to the red (not as much fun as the yellow, but less walkers (like in the walking dead)
  18. so after all the math. can you feel the difference on the trail, or is this a visual thing?
  19. Gauteng Bike Parks do not offer too much in the line of Bike parks such as you have experienced in the UK. If you want a physical challenge, with raw natural trails, I would highly suggest Kings Kloof. It's about 400 odd meteres of ascent in 20ish km. There is not a flat section on that farm. Thaba Trails in the south is technically challenging, think of it as a big xco track. Do all the blue trails Buffelsdrift in the (very farking far away) pretoria, technical trails, has some nice challenging trails, enduro lines and some jumps and berms. Wolwespruit (I have not been) peeps here can comment Big Red Barn in Centurion. Lots of singletrack, jumps berms and singletrack. not a lot of elevation. These are the ones I can think of. You may want to take a trip down to KZN, Giba, Howick, Karkloof, that's what it's all about
  20. Surely you know Italics is comic san's italian couzin....
  21. oh no don't let @Patchelicious get hold of that....
  22. I have just been playing with the post like type button thingies...
  23. Specified as part of my household insurance, last time I claimed was when I drove the wife’s bike into a height restriction bar at a shopping centre. Car was repaired, bike was replaced with zero issues. I do however have a broker that is meticulous, and takes each claim over from start to finish. This is through santam.
  24. So, this is still awesome.\ Probably my most favoritest LP song. https://youtu.be/0xyxtzD54rM?list=PLBiPNxqFKPZKfP4rN-J5jYy94-2mLufQz
