  1. You have been to some strange bachelors parties...
  2. Never thought I’ll be able to post in this thread, and I know it’s not a big deal for some, but it’s a very big deal for me. Only rode 20kms this morning, as my time was limited, and I don’t have access to my indoor trainer currently. I had to dodge taxis driving on tue sidewalk on Peter road, which probably got my adrenaline pumping enough to be able to get a top 10. I even had to brake slightly for a car taking a corner wide....
  3. What kind of coffee? Beans? Ground? Frisco? (Instant coffee/Chicory)
  4. Ventured out to Kings Kloof again, but it was one of those “I’m not feeling it” ride. Took lots of shortcuts, and even some shortcuts of the shortcuts... will see what the weather does tomorrow...
  5. Training has been going well...I'm excited
  6. It does seem he is making light of the situation...
  7. Left just before 5pm yesterday afternoon for a ride. Certainly cleared the head, after some work challenges. There's something about riding after dark, that get's one's pace up. Maybe it's remnants of one's childhood, where the dark corridor was rapidly trans versed to get back to where the lights were on....
  8. I have migrated away from casting zwift on iphone to apple tv 2nd gen due tomsome lag I experienced. so now, it’s kickr 1 on ipad with companion on the phone. I have had 2 drop-outs due to network ( wireless) playing up. And I have had 1 weird power reading in the last 3 months. I have tried the laptop, but it’s a pita to get going, logging in takes about 20 minutes, and the connection via companion is dodgy at the best of times. I also dont have the worlds fastest laptop. for my measly needs the mobile devices works best thus far. ( I bought a tickr a while ago, and that takes care of hr data nicely buth on garmin and zwift.)
  9. Saturday, slept late, decided to not ride, had a braai and some beers instead. Sunday, we checked out Avianto trails from home for the first time in a very long while. It was suberb. Well maintained tracks, short sharp rocky climbs, thrilling tech decents. This concrete bit was installed, made this fast decent really fast... Made nice around the dam as well. I can remember why I used to go there so often, as it's exhilirating tech riding, added with a fair amount of fitness required to not feel like death after 15kms. Will be back soon, perhaps leave home later afternoon and try and ride a bit after dark....
  10. That’s 7km/h faster than sitting on the couch....
  11. Dave Mercer Steel frame. Karate monkey with sliding dropouts. Maybe even split the rear stay to run a Belt drive if I felt like it.
  12. Wednesday Night Ride. I have not really done a night ride since Delta Park lap racing stopped. I have used my lights mainly for early mornings, where only a short period of illumination is required. Last night was the inverse. We rode with a great bunch of folks into the wild west. The idea was to grab a bite in Magalliesburg, and then roll back to the start point. We were treated with some of the best the Highveld has to offer. The green grass from all the rain made it simply spectacular. Into the sun. Makes even a simple dirt road sketchy Phone Camera making magic by shooting into the sun, and not be overexposed. We crested a ridge, and was treated to the sunset, Cant believe this is so close to Joburg. Felt like we were miles from anywhere. With our backs to the sunset, there were some impressive Clouds in the distance, painted pink by the sun, Stopped at the steers, just before they closed, and grabbed some fast food, before the ride back. Some singletrack sections through the veld, where a bit of concentration was required. Over the railroad bridge, not as ominous as usual, because you cant see to the bottom.... As one draws closer to the end of the ride, the pace starts picking up. Photos stops being taken. Just shy of 60 clicks for the night, and one of the best Rides I have had up in the Highveld...
  13. I assume you have a “wheel-on” trainer? if this is indeed the case, you will have to look at a new rear wheel, that can fit a newer 10 speed casette. Along with this it would entail a new derailleur, as well as shifter The trainer does not need top of the range components. You just need something that works well.
  14. I have run into a few shops where the contactless function does not work. But then I tell them, please wait, I have to fetch my wallet.
  15. yes, hang around here long enough and you will see some true colours....
  16. I'm currently working on a Site in Waterfall. Should you wish to borrow my shock pump for a couple of days, I would be happy to oblige. Unfortunately, I do not have one for sale.
  17. After a week of intense work, and no riding, not even indoors, I eveeeeentually got my butt off the couch and onto the bike. Now, as punishment for being so slapgat, it was decided that Kings Kloof was the venue of choice. It was nice and not too warm, and a really nice day in the hoëveld. A spot of climbing ( and pushing in my case) was done. Used this shady tree to get my HR back to reasonable parameters The view is kinda worth it. Hopefully this was the kick in the butt I needed to get back into regular training.
  18. coke with lemon is an abomination.
  19. But we are so happy you did!!! I have been frustratingly busy, and have not been there since January....Everytime I pass there I want to stop, but I'm forever chasing minutes....
  20. We were well on our way, and then with the actuarial wizardry, we missed it by 1500 points, due to them using last years health check for points, me not reading their emails, and because I now have an 18+ dependant, he also needs to earn points. I was in much better shape with last years test, in comparison to the previous year, so assumin They still do extra points for better results, I could’ve met the goal. anyhoo, I have other carrots to chase, and cant be arsed about this anymore. Tired of dancing to their ever changing tune.
  21. My son started his first job, and is keen on a 390. Will need a well priced one with low kms. Can an (ex) owner perhaps shed some light on service parts availability? I will be teaching him to do his own minor services etc.
  22. I have a set of the bars, for a very long time, and they are perfect. Also wheels, chainrings sprockets, spacers crank bolts. The price, quality and service triangle when it comes to Rapide, is perfect.
  23. Stop making excuses for riding an E-bike..
