  1. Even spotify free is pretty decent. Chooze a playlist or genre, and off you go… however, and this I realised after much frustration and headscratching, that music is for some, very personal. Those who really have a connection to music beyond “what everyone likes” are few and far between. I absolutely love music, abut that does not mean everyone else will love my playlist. Mostly people dont, and that’s ok. I wanted to become a radio dj for the longest time when I was young, as they have the ability to share the joy of music, but the reality is, they just share whatever brings the sales. There are of course, the masses, who will tap their foot to literally anything playing in the background with no thought to if it actually music, performed by an artist ( that term is used very loosely these days) or just some generic **** puked up from the likes of simon whatsitsface on that crappy tv show… yes, thanks, I do indeed feel better.
  2. Bit of a drive out, but I would say worth it, in terms of fun factor.
  3. Logged some time at Avianto today. Rode from home and back. it was great! like I said…. Logged some time…. Geddit? ….geddit? some Father’s day tranquility. About 5kms from home my garmin died. I left it on by accident on the way home yesterday it seems. Watch battery was also kaput, or close to it, so I logged on the phone, using strava. It was cool to ride by “feel” not having the numbers in one’s face, kinda was a novelty. Happy Father’s day to the dad’s ( and a special mention to the wife’s, putting up with our crap)
  4. Took a drive out to Hennops MTB trails today. Arrived there midday as most of the masses were leaving. I was pleasantly surprised, the trails are super fun, well maintained and marked. Nothing hectic, a couple of hairpin switchbacks, but In General some of the most fun I had on the bike in a while. The terrain and screnery varies from time to time it’s dry at the moment this way… lest not forget, the neighbourhood… Pelindaba, shrouded in mystery, secrets and clandestine weapons grade plutonium enrichment… i Feel that the routes at hennops could have been named differently, example “ yellowcake road” “pebble bed trail” “reactor road” etc. When they say dont ride in this bridge, they mean it…it’s got a nasty pendulum effect, that gets worse the more you try and counter steer the swing…. and then of course, when in the area, it’s sinful to not go to the alehouse for post ride pizza and beer… the boegoe beer is nice, but the blonde they served today was sublime. (Boegoe Beer pictured) was a great day out.
  5. Yeah, I think a effective torture mechanism for me would be to be forced to listen to SA radio. Sorry about your situation.
  6. It’s the slow steady certain rotten decay that is Africa….(oops, slightly political sorry Bikehub)
  7. Winter is for sleeping in, and only riding when the temps are reasonable. I have often, because of my statement above, wondered why there are so many individuals out riding at ridiculous temperatures in winter. My conclusion was that they are not blessed with riding partners who are their spouses as well..there is a small window of opportunity, which has to be utilitised ( more or less while I am building my second cup of coffee for the day…) goenoeg fynbrag… We got going at a decent temp today, ave of around 20, really isn’t bad for the middle of winter… not much in terms of scenery this time of year in the highveld stopped for a breather at this fallen tree, and by chance saw the owl, perched in full daylight. It was sitting, checking me out till my missus arrived, and then decided to make a move. I am very lucky to have a life partner that also rides, who offers me the freedom to ride whenever I feel like it, with or without her.
  8. I Can see "The Hairy Bikers" chapter forming in the cape soon... with Hairy as president , of course...
  9. soon everyone will be on single speeds.....mwwwuuuhaahahahahahahaha.........
  10. I also wanted to say that if E-bike chat is allowed on the "new" forum format... so should motorcycle chat... same-same, but different....
  11. it's because the only "motorcycle sound" Hollywood's post production sound engineers know and use is Harley Davidson...no matter the make of the bike, or the amount of pistons or engine cylinder configuration...
  12. Yes, but the key here is that a well balanced individual with his head not firmly inserted into his own behind can read these, understand it and move on or debate accordingly. There are not many such individuals in the world. What We are once again catering for is a minority element, affecting the greater majority negatively. I have over the years of visiting forums, and being exposed to opposing views learnt to take into account what the other party has to say, and decide to comment or not (and go away thinking "what a chop" LOL). I have learnt a lot as you say, and it is sad in the greater scheme of things to lose a platform where fairly civil discussions can be had. This is ultimately what forums were created for. The issue comes into play where the forum is owned by an individual, who ultimately decides the rules. It's not a democracy, unless it was established as such. It is clear however that the long-standing (or participating) members does not like the "remove the offending limb" and would rather have explored other remedies...maybe a vaccination?
  13. I Hope Charley knows he is standing next to the famous IceCreamMan, did he ask for your autograph?
  14. I’m experiencing a lot of poster’s anxiety after the last couple of pages and the photos. anyhoo.. riding has not been my focus lately, sadly. But I started getting back to regular rides, and hopefully the momentum carries. this towards the end of my ride, and with my sense of humor, the first thing that sprung to mind was “ the dry winter air makes me horse…”
  15. Not visiting news24 because their cookie policy, it’s either accept all or don’t read… so I’m not reading. Thanks for the clarity Matt, should have been a bit cleared from the onset, there would have been less butt-hurt, or maybe not.
  16. There's only so much to be said about cycling, and with any group of people coming together, there will be very organic discussions about all things in life. I hate that people want to control these things to be completely binary. I don't partake in political or religious discussions, not even in RL as I think this has the potential to unnecessarily ruin friendships. I really have been enjoying this thread, as I do think this is the most civil bunch of "bikers" I have yet to meet online. There is a tagline about harleys and the kids that come running, and the mothers that run co.....
  17. It's when you post something on youtwitface, some-one gets offended and they find out where you live, where you work, and go after your family, in some cases people have been fired, addresses posted in public which could lead to death threats etc... Kinda like the hub sleuths of old, but a lot more angry mob-pitchforky...
  18. Nothing better than having someone shout in your ear about imminent danger.... Like your missus in the passenger seat shouting "look out!!!!" while driving...it normally scares me a lot more than whatever the idjit in traffic is supposedly getting up to. Warning - NCR Current affairs comment below: ...and 5G in africa working well...LOL
  19. I cant help but visualise the bottle being open and spewing little bits of brown water (coke-mix) out the rear.....
  20. I like to talk nonsense, and bring a bit of humor wherever I can, a lot easier on NCR topics. (Humor to me, not really other people necessarily) Never a big participant in politics, religion etc. I do like the music thread, the awesome thread and motorcycling. Will I go to another forum for this? no. I have been a longstanding member of the adventure motorcyling forum, and basically "left" there to focus on the cycling side of things. The Religion & Politics there is far worse than here, and some real toxic stuff that comes to the fore there (in days gone by, I'm not sure how it is at the moment as I don't log on to see what's what.) No skin off my back.
  21. Missus wanted Garmin. We have a tickr that gets used for HRV in the mornings and indoor (ios) training. Been great. Replaced the battery last week after a couple of years of service. I’m really impressed with the unit.
  22. I did some research, and the site is owned locally. But I was very weary. The price however is what made the decision for me.
