  1.  People also forget the bike you ride is very dependent on where you live. Your Stumpy might be a very lekke bike to ride if you stay in Stellies or maybe Karkloof , but you are gonna hate it if you live in for example the North West Province.

As much as I would love to ride trails every day , reality is that that’s the exception and not the norm for most South Africans. Most of us have to do with 100’s of kay’s of gravel grinding for every once in a while of going on holiday or long weekend of trail riding .

So , would you rather be slightly under biked for the maybe 10% of the riding you do , or over biked for the real 90% you do ?

  2. If I read the media statement from Specialized correctly , the withdrawal was not so much about them being worried about catching the virus at the event as it was them worrying about getting back to their families in their own countries ?!

My worry would also be that there might be travel bans in place in a week's time ( who knows ?) and I might be stuck not being able to get back to my family for a month ??

  3. One says

    2020 Road Champs

    ????

And you don't think mountainbikers do road cycling ?

These are 2 of the most important races on the cycling calendar in SA . It's a pity they are on the same weekend - that was my point .

  4. My first B&B . Have done Joberg2C , so have sort of done the routes before , but not the Berg itself .

Have heard a lot of good things about the event , so looking forward to it . I'm used to doing stage races with a partner , but decided to do this one solo for a change .

  5. I feel more sorry for any cyclist who buys a brand new bike and the next day sees a press release where his new bike / model has been replaced with the newest greatest geometry and suspension design .....

Ja eish - that's a special kind of eina that !!

  6. If you worked hard for your money and can afford a 100k mtb and it gives you joy and makes you ride more , then why not ?

It’s interesting to me how the negative feelings are always one way - guys hating on the oke with the nice bike. I have yet to hear anyone with a nice bike making a negative comment towards a guy riding an entry level bike ( even if he gets beaten by that guy ) .

Suppose jealousy does make you nasty ?!

  7. This is a bold line to draw in the sand from a studied dietary health expert.

    Very interesting.

I’m sorry , I am not following you ? Are you being sarcastic with me , or am I missing something?

  8. You're right, but that only speaks ill of the family for neglecting to put the kid on a healthy vegan diet. If you want to go through a vegan pregnancy and have a vegan kid, do your homework, make sure the lifestyle is sorted and there shouldn't be issues.

Aaaa , now I get your angle .... You wanna find a cure for the population problem of the world !????

Seriously though , Odi , you give too much credit to the human race if you think the majority of the population might be educated enough to know what nutrients their children needs .

A vegan diet for children is not a good thing when you take the general population into account .
