  1. Does anyone have any details on the new Pyga rims? Specs, weight, width, price, availability?
  2. Why no Kashima Fox shock? And whats up with those spacers ontop of the stem? Looks like a quick Friday night build...
  3. O sorry, you have both. But you can swop the spiders as far as I know
  4. I might have a 3 ring spider for sale. Converted my 3 spd crank to 1 x, so not using the spider anymore. Regards Christie
  5. I love my Tallboy LTc, reckon its the perfect do-it-all bike if you spec it top of the line (ie Enve wheels, lightweight drive train ect) But cant vouch how it would compare to Bronson or similar You really need to go and test ride all of them
  6. I would definitely support a monthly/annual pass if it would allow me to ride real early etc.
  7. My comments: Avianto is probably the best maintained trail in Gauteng right now. I've also heard of riders buying trail tags, just to find out they have run out of tags. A way around this must be found. Also sometime we pitch there real early to start a long ride, so we are there before the office is open, we would then ride and buy the trail tag only after the ride.
  8. And then dont forget the SC Heckler... single pivot alu frame which should be the same or cheaper than Pyga
  9. If you can afford SC go for it, it pedals amazingly and is super light weight, and suspension bearings last long, and easy to maintain ( I ride a Tallboy LTc) The Pyga is much heavier, but more affordable though, and with slightly longer top tubes, you can run shorter stem for better handling vs same size SC... You really have to ride them both, properly set-up for you with same components to pick the right one
  10. What size stem is on the bike? How much seat post extension from top of the frame? (you should have at least 150 to 200mm) My wife is 1.68 and rides a medium Tallboy with more than enough seat post extension and 80mm stem. Works perfect for her.
  11. Smaller frame is not always better, I'd rather go for the XL, with short 70mm stem. Anything over 90mm is too long for a MTB I'm 1.78 and ride L with 70mm stem, which feels almost small for me. I'd consider a XL if could try one... What you must keep in mind, especially on full suspension is weight distribution on the bike, with too long stem, you weight will be too much over the front end, and you will work the fork too hard, and vica versa.... ideally you should have tried to ride both a L and XL properly set-up for you before you buy... there is no black and white... and the nr's never tell the true story
  12. Why not 1 x 10/11 or at least 2 x 10? And a why QR clamp for a dropper searpost?
  13. My question to online shops is this: How do you address the issue of bike fit and apparel fit, which a customer has to try on for size before buying?
  14. I run a set of Enve's on my Tallboy LTc and ZTR Crests on my Cotic Solaris.. To be honest, there is not a massive difference in feel, but so far the Enve's have been the stronger of the 2... Alu rims are definitely not bullet proof, they are just cheaper to replace.. But the Enve wheelset cost R25k vs R7k for the ZTR Crest + Hope hubs I've done my homework before I bought the Enve;s and wont ride any other carbon rim... Also look at the new Ricthey Trail wheelset, very good..
  15. High BB = poor cornering at high speeds, makes you feel like you ride "on" the bike, not "in" it High BB = better pedalling through rocks & stuff Rather ask yourself, why so much travel? Why is 120mm upfront not good enough? Quality suspension and good geometry is more important than lost of travel Do you have a dropper seatpost? I would much rather recommend a dropper seatpost than putting a longer travel fork on, since it will allow better weight and body shifts on the DH's, will make the bike feel much more capable
  16. I rode my Trek EX9 with a 150mm Revelation for 2 years, no problem But I did feel that it raised the BB enough to have a negative effect on the handling, if I had to to it again, I'd stick to 130mm max, and maybe consider adjustable headset if you want to slacken the head angle Also depends on how much you weigh and what type of riding you do, if you weigh 110kg and do big drops, then youre probably looking for trouble, but just normal trail riding, and you should not break anything...
  17. then it does not really count.... if you cant share it, it does not exist...
  18. Lebanon trails near Grabouw
  19. Nick"s Pass on S2C, especially the bottom section
  20. I'm in Stellenbosh for a 10 days in December for mtb'ing.... will check it out
  21. Welvanpas Yellow Route downhill (Wellington)
  22. I've also been looking for a new helmet to replace my Giro Xar Looking at IXS Trail RS MET Parabellum Cat Leaf Of which only the Leaf is available in SA... and very good price, but IXS Trail would be my first choice. International Bike trade should be importing them according to IXS website, but havent seen any for sale yet
  23. What chainring are you running? I've noticed that te dedicated ring like Wolftooth pedals noticeably more efficient than standard shift chainrings. I assume its because of the longer teeth I've ridden quite a few rides with lots of steep climbing with 32t on 29er trailbike, but are going down to 30t now. HTFU and stick to the 34 on the 26er.
