  1. I also felt very ill on Monday!!!!! Think it was all the beers I had after the race
  2. Sludge bike wash! Good product, designed for bicycles, has an additive to protect your paint, most dirt rinses off with no rubbing, and best of all, fully biodegradable, so it won't kill your lawn or harm the environment!

I must say that there were an abundance of w@nkers like that out there yesterday. Some real petty remarks when passing slower riders in the right hand part of the road and just general arrogance. (Some of these comments came from a big group wearing Vodacom branded kit on the N14) I thought we were all there to enjoy ourselves? Anyway, myself and my mates enjoyed it! Thank you to all the friendly people I met yesterday!
  5. Did the same...rather have my brakes fail in mud than live with that shrieking vibration when ever you try "are forced to" slow down
  6. I agree with The Drongo, Had the same issues with my XT brakes, and this is what I did! 1. Sanded the pads with a very fine sand paper 2. Covered them in thinners and gave them a good burn to burn all impurities 3. Cleaned my rotors I do this from time to time when they start making a noise, and this normally fixes them for a month a so. Hope this helps!
  7. Went out on my dikwiel with my 2.2 knobblies! Didn't have an awesome completion time, but enjoyed the tequila and jaeger stands ,along with a beer stop! Must say, I loved hunting the roadies on the N14, so if you spotted a guy with a bright orange and black camel bak on a Merida, that was I. well done to all!
  8. I hope you're not wearing matching white lycra budgie smugglers!!
  9. Hi all, I have my dual susser 26 inch which I use almost daily off road (and for the mandatory hunting of roadies round Joburg on one Sunday of the year) I love this bike, but have been itching to try out a 29er. The thought is to buy a 29er hardtail, see what the hype is about, and if it doesn't do much, sell the 29er, and if it works for me, flog both bikes and buy a 29er dual sus. Am I wasting my time?
  10. Its only on Sunday, so if you still feel k@k on saturday afternoon, rather call it quits and live to ride another single track on your single speed. As a bonus, at least you won't have to see blokes in white lycra smuggling budgies! Best of luck! Hope to see you there!
  11. Bought myself a 1-20 800 last year november! What an awesome bike, with enough travel and good handling. Ok, i must admit, I have changed almost every part on the bike, but not due to failure, but purely due to addiction! Still enjoying my merida, and havent looked back! Buy it, but beware, cos when the bug bites.....BIG K@K PS: I have a rock shox recon solo air for sale - will fit perfectly
  12. Continental race king 2.2 rear and x king 2.2 front Despite buying the "protection" versions and running them tubeless, i am in my mielies! Good grip, excellent roll, and holes seal within seconds. Oh yeah, the sealant i use is Sludge, good old Stan is not from africa
  13. Do people actually go out and look for their favourite cyclist or cycling teams kit and buy it???? It's kinda like a kid buying batman or spider man kit! A rugby jersey or soccer jersey is understandable, but not too convinced on white lycra!
  14. Another age old secret for beginners! A little bit of lube makes them slip ina lot easier! Lol
  15. Thanks for all the advice. Went fora mud bath yesterday monring which has been my toughest 40km ever. So to conclude this thread: If you cycle shorter distances, make sure hurt it for maximum effectiveness!
  16. Tired of the 40km races, don't see the point of travelling to race for a 2 hour odd ride. Want to migrate to marathons and stage races. I don't plan on winning anything, but rather for enjoyment without k@kking off too much. Also doing 94.7 road race, so also plan on enjoying that at a comfortable pace. As I said, not looking for a podium finish.
  17. On average I'm out for an hour. No record breaking there.
  18. Off road does count if there is a fair amount of sand.
  19. Being pressed for time in the mornings and working past dark on most days, I usually only get to ride between 18km and 23km four to five times a week, then usually a 45km ride on weekends. Will this assist with overall fitness? Especially over longer distances? Please advise.
  20. Ooops! Missed the important intel and almost arrived in jhb a week late. Ok, reason for the knobbly swap question is that I don't feel like removing my tubeless and battling to put them back. I have a spare set of rims, but cassette or rotors, so can't move forward or stop!
