  1. I have used Revive on the recommendation of a nutritionist at the Cycle lab. My issue was recovery. I Must say i am very happy. I think there is good stuff in there. What in your lineup would be the equivalent of 32GI?
  2. Suggestion: You need to create a fire and brimstone section with adequate warnings in it about what can happen there. In other words let it be under your own cognisance if you go post there. The hubs character is essentially an open form and no one should mess with that. Rant n Rave on steroids with adequate adult warnings.
  3. Google a bit for the new one that is being released in 2015. Looks very nice
  4. Agreed - when you are sitting on a Saturday afternoon and have nothing better to do than stir for an hour after the boks have crashed and burend again. If you like your Risotto then get Giorgio Locatelli's book. He of TV fame. Some truly awesome recipes in there, real first principles stuff. The Ragu (Bolognaise) is the best i have ever tasted but it requires a whole afternoon to cook it. No poncy ingredients like anchovies and Cinnamon etc.
  5. Oh man - other than the bike shop i fear Adams the most as i love good knives and nice cooking gadgets. Wusthof knives are a big weakness. Then you need sharpeners. Then there is Le Creuset. I am acquiring a collection of that. Latest was an induction cooker plate. I am now online looking for some cheap immersion heater cookers for Sous Vide cooking - will be importing once the postal strike is over. Sous Vide is my next big adventure, but you can sous vide in a THermomix BTW.
  6. Disclosure: My Wife is a Thermomix consultant so i know the machines well. We have the new one (and i am selling the old one with a new bowl set if you are interested) These things are not cheap but are amazing devices. You will see them all over the celebrity TV chef shows doing sauces and cooking all sorts of things. Masterchef etc. Go to Luke Dale Robert's restaurants and you will see them using them for a lot of the sauces he makes. Even pro chefs use them, its mentioned in Feran Adria's books and at his restaurants.(if that is not enough) and Heston uses them to make some of his stuff. Knowing what the recipes taste like, i will bet that a large percentage of your Thai curries you eat in your mid level diners are prepared in thermomix. Takes about 20 minutes start to finish for a prawn and chicken Thai curry, from first principles - even grinding the paste from first principles For those of you that like Italian - A Mushroom Risotto in 17 minutes. From fresh ingredients. Try that at home. This new model also has touch screen and a cook book on a chip. So it guides you through thousands of recipes. Basically idiot proof. A lot of my wife's friends who have never ever cooked now happily churn out suppers for their families after work. Good food made fresh. My wife has trained maids etc. Cauliflower puree and creamed peas? Best you have ever tasted and smoothest you have ever eaten. Banting friendly is a cinch. This things spins so fast it will mill wheat to flour. This is done a lot in the demos. Also grinds ice so fine and turns it in to sorbet. Add some fruit and you have ice cream for the kids. You save money, but more than anything its more efficient and you save time. And you use fresh ingredients.
  7. My wife got her new one (i see you have the touch screen) a couple of weeks ago as she is a consultant. It really is a wow gadget. People balk at the price, but real world posts like this wake people up to what it can do. I have given away every other blender/shredder/mixer grater that we had. And she makes all sorts of things in it - hand cream, lip balm, bath salts. Yoghurt is fresh every couple of days. Granola etc. Lookng for recipes for bum cream now.
  8. PoC Trabec MIPS. Beautifully made
  9. Built this last year - was too small so i sold it for pieces. Would love a Lynskey Ridge line 29er
  10. Here is our new boy. Welcome Frankie. I know its a stereotypical name for a dachshund but i always wanted to get one named Frankie. We got him from the SPCA Kempton park - he's coming home after all the red tape and inspections are done next week. We have 4 x dachshunds (or had) We lost one of our four guys on Friday - Louis the Dachshund. He was my boy and I am absolutely devastated. You cant really grasp the pain until it happens and he is gone. So I need to pay it forward and get a little guy out of a shelter that really needs help and this little guy just appealed to me and the wife. Took the furry family out there to meet him and i decided to go ahead. He looks like he has had a rough time, but nothing a good home can't fix. I wanted a boy as we lost a boy but his sister or partner is still there and she is beautiful. So if you are looking there is a little girl dachshund looking for a home in Cage 14 at Kempton park SPCA.... And to my boy Louis. RIP Louis the Dachshund. You have no idea how many people you touched and how many calls we got my boy. Those paw prints are forever in my heart......
  11. Hmm - it is a bit sad that the event is dead (i know they say not) as it will probably happen in some form or another somewhere in the world. But FWIW my 2 cents worth: The old Epic was something like this in some ways - long open road endurance grinding. Suits some - but likely a minority of dare i say enthusiasts and normally not the flashy guys who have the big wallets and egos (read bucks - sorry endurance riders to generalize but you guys are normally not in this category). May need flame retardant now, but their research was not well done especially as to the heir demographics of who would enter this event and whether they had R 110k entry money to plunk down. Sure it has global appeal - as you say - just not sure quite waht that is. And finally - the Epic is often flamed as being too easy now as they have gone to a much more single track based route with less of this open road grinding. I think, having tried an old Epic, the new route is much more exciting hence the appeal has increased. There isn't 1000 km of single track between Bloem and Stellenbosch....
  12. A friend of mine's wife who was a full blown bunny hugging vegan got in to body building. Needless to say after 3 months she was eating meat with the rest of us and because of the body building and the protein needed for the muscle growth she has more than her fair portion. And is loving it. Says she cant understand how she managed to eat all the cr@p tasting meat substitutes...
  13. Ha Ha - sorry for the Hijack - like the new FLA - TLTG
  14. Prepsol is pretty nasty
  15. I Hope somebody can help me. I have a lock blade knife that has a broken blade - looks like a shark took a bite out of it, so i want a knife maker that can redo the knife i.e. replace the blade - anyone know of someone that can do this?
  16. Hah Ha. Dont sell it. My Story: Last thing I had left from all my bikes was a helmet. A black Arai. I went to Cape Town and seen as though my brother was commuting in CTN and had an open face I felt sorry for him and gave him my old lid. In perfect nick. Black Arai with 3 x visors etc. Anyway about 6 months later me and the wife go for a ride with mates, she says she really enjoyed it and i decide to reinvest in motorcycling again. Now I start with the helmets, jackets, gloves etc but all x 2. Being a snob i decide nothing but Arai will do for me again. Until i priced them. Then i nearly fell over. So right now my brother in CTN rides with an Arai and my wife and I have Schuberth helmets. And the costs of the accessories have skyrocketed compared to when i was first getting in to bikes. That Jacket and things like that - keep them. You never know when the itch will arise to reconnect with the need to ride....
  17. http://www.iol.co.za/news/crime-courts/bikers-cyclist-in-road-rage-attack-1.1747302#.VA1NWvmSyAg Not sure who starts the ball rolling on these - Divernick - maybe you can help this guy out - seems like he has had a lousy steer. Would be willing to contribute. Who knows how to find him and offer him a new bike or fix his old one ?
  18. Agree with NF. I took my wife to the spruit as a noob and she was very intimidated. There are lots of loops and options at NF. You don't need to follow the trails for the first 11 km - you can get to some easy single track within a couple of downhills and some very easy riding.
  19. Some guy flagged the First Descent on N Farm as dangerous. It was the only place I ever had a KoM, albeit briefly. That stretch is about as dangerous as a flat level road... Strava nazis ! Have to screw up someone else's fun
  20. What the man said. How heavy are you btw? I am riding 29er and not a small guy i went 180mm Shimano vented discs back and front and also braided hoses. My brakes are like a switch they are so sharp. Some bleeding and somebody that knows brakes (if you are in Jhb - Josh from Cyclists Workshop)
  21. Great to see someone looking after SA locals. Hope that you guys have all the success in the world. Talking about products, how about an external device like yours that connects to a smart phone via Bluetooth and then uses an app which to do the same thing. That way all smart phone users that are cyclists could have this functionality running and have an alarm in their backpack or on their handlebars in the same way. If you could integrate this with Garmin or other computers.....
  22. They are called buffaloes in polite company but I like puffy's. I think I have found my new race designation. I am up there with the puffy's
  23. Reset to defaults. (all in the middle) Measure tune in small increments.
  24. Single Track is not about a democracy. He is is in front is in control. However as Eldron says. BTW I suffer from the same issues on climbing vs descending. I have had some epic fails passing guys (or trying to) on descents "off piste" but I have just had to suck it up....
