  1. On entering the uphill switchback single track at the end of day 2 (before the pack houses), there were 4 guys and 2 ladies in front of me. By the time I got to the top, only the 2 ladies were still in front - not because I was fast and past the guys, rather all of them had fallen / bailed / rode into a tree etc. I don't think I saw either of the ladies 'dab' once. Well ridden!
  2. Don't beat your self up about that. Last year the amount of climbing per kilometer was more* than any of the other stage races (apart from 'Hell and Back'). The race met all the pre-req's for me: fairly cheap, local, able to sleep at home (family time) and a tough testing route. There was also plenty single track. Disappointed *based on advertised figures
  3. pity - was a tough, testing ride. I guess manicured smooth trails are all the rage nowadays.
  4. Yep - like jcza says. I think entry was round the R8400 per team for tented accomidation.
  5. Interesting statement that: we did the W2W ride (weekday event) which I believe was only about 60% full. We didn't have any issues with queues on the trail or in the camp. But that said, there didn't seem that much more space to accomidate another 300 riders. So, I imagine, a full quota would have had the campsite stretched to the limit.
  6. Done Sani and W2W. In terms of riding I prefered W2W - because I enjoy the technical stuff more. But, given a free enty I wouldn't hestitate to go to either. I enjoyed the setup of the Sani camps more. (My opinion) is that Sani is a bit more rider orientated - plenty of free stuff and more variety in terms of drinks and snacks. I don't remember the exact entry costs, but I would think that W2W should be a bit cheaper than Sani given the smaller goody bag and the fact that there is only a single campsite to maintain. But I think the prices are fairly similar? If that is the case, it strikes me that Sani is 'giving' more back to the rider? BnB is on the bucket list. Edit: forgot about the single tent at W2W - that is a bonus!
  7. Hi. Any chance of knowing if the 500 rider limit has been reached for the free t-shirt? Think I might join in if the T-shirts are still available.
  8. I think Tygerberg members should get the same discount as PPA members?
  9. I think NitroDoni41 might have finished top of the pile - so probably a big party going on Regardless of which way the result went, well ridden. Can't wait for tomorrow when I get to hit the trails.
  10. day one: http://www.wines2whales.co.za/index.php?id=93 think some guys are still riding day 2
  11. Contermans in the morning
  12. Hoogekraal in the afternoon
  13. Hoogekraal in the evening...
  14. This was the bike that pretty much started the whole Carbon thread. I think anyone that has been following this thread will feel its lose. Not just because of the cowardly act of theft, but because of the 'history' behind the bike. I know I do.
  15. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Distinctive bike. Let's keep our eyers open - should stand out if anyone tries to sell it as is.
  16. get both. I'll buy the cheaper one off you at your 'excellent' price Seriously though, if you go X1 you'll always be wanting/thinking about upgrading the various parts. So go Advanced and get your mind set right that you won't upgrade (much) going forward. If you are a 'normal' Hubber, you'll have spent the R12k difference on upgrades before the years end
  17. you still have a set available?
  18. R10.7k http://www.bidorbuy.co.za/item/91126901/Sram_Force_Groupset.html Out of interest, what are the cheapest prices you've found?

    A Sub 3 Argus?

Anybody on here (or know of) broken the sub 3 barrier for the first time when being 40 years of age plus? I'm sure there are a bunch of guys that continue to break sub 3 after they turn 40. I'm just wondering if it is possible to do it for the first time after you are 40. (I'm sure it's possible but would like to hear the story behind it if anyone one hear has done it).
  21. No, don't think it is needed then. This bridges the gap between old 'unsmart' tv's and the latest stuff. If all your kit is new Samsung stuff (for example), you should be able to do it out of the box using 'Allshare Cast'. Other vendors have their propriotory apps to do similar stuff. Even if all your stuff isn't the same brand, if they all support DNLA you most likely can do most of this - but may need a little tweaking here and there.
  22. At R25k+ for a tall boy frame vs R8k for a CC, there is no great loss if you can't sell the CC frame when/if you are done with it. It's all about how much money you got in your pocket to spend in the first place. I'm sure a lot of people would love a SC - but few can afford/justify it.
  23. If I understand your post, your phone has to be connected via the cable to the TV? DNLA straming can be done via wifi. Think Chromecast is also 'cableless'.
  24. Cool toy! On my wishlist. As an alternative, build up a XBMC Media PC. Supports DNLA streaming from Andriod out the box.. Really is a cool party trick to 'flip' the video on you phone to the TV (or music, or photos etc).
