  1. What a load of cr@p. I never would have thought Sean capable of writing such drivel...
  2. Will you be? I need to figure out whether I need to or not..?
  3. Cash is king. Having also sold stuff on the Hub, I prefer to leave "dibs" on the playground and the first guy to stump up the cash gets the deal. There are so many guys who fartarse around over the deal, I prefer to give it to the guy who just pays...
  4. I have used the normal rehidrat in conjunction with a standard recovery drink after long, hard, hot stages to supplement electrolytes lost through the day and it seems to have worked. I wouldn't use it alone or during an event, though.
  5. Get real. Ride twice a week for 50 weeks and you pay R16 per session. Where else can you get a couple of hours entertainment for that price. Find something else to whinge about apart from some guys trying to run a decent business...
  6. Two comments: - after having seen umpteen of these incidents, one becomes a little immune to it, so another body on the side of the road ain't no issue (just paperwork and a long wait for the mortuary van); - SAPS are woefully ill equipped and there is sweet **** all chance they had anything to cover the body with. We used to see if we could find old newspapers or plastic lying around lying around, and if not, tough luck.
  7. And I am very happy about that. He once beat me in a morning sprint on a fold up... :-0 I still have nightmares...
  8. Phew! Luckily I put the disclaimer up front! ;-)
  9. I am not an expert, but I find that cycling helps with cardio fitness for running. When I do little sprints during a run, I can knock the socks off my running mates, even if I can't run as consistently fast or far as them. As for running helping cycling, I don't see much - except for when I need to run with the bike in an MTB event. My main sport is cycling, but I do two 1-1.5 hour runs per week for a little impact and to do something different. I couldn't do running as my main sport as it's really boring...

    Newbie

I started exactly the same way - challenged to do the 94.7 by my (now) tandem partner!, but 38 years old and 18kgs overweight. You've got a great head start! The 94.7 is a great target and you've got time to get into shape...
  11. Ooooohhh... Growllll... Sounds like you need these: McNabs
  12. The Garmin Edge 500 is a great cycling computer, but for a full computer, mapping and navigation unit (especially for MTB) the 805 is brilliant.
  13. It depends on whether you use the club. With Cycle Lab I get Ride may, full on hospitality at the Argus, 94.7 and Tour Durban, hospitality at several other races, support at MTB events, several social events during the year... So I get more than my money's worth back. But if you don't use it, it obviously won't be worth it.
  14. Geez... so they're selling already!
  15. When I reads an article like this written by an organiser of one of the top MTB races, a shudder goes down my spine. What hope does this sport have with these guys ****ing it up?
  16. Love ya, dude! Peace, happiness and friendship all round!! As I stated earlier, your point is a valid one we all agree with and it's an ongoing problem. Education and peer pressure are the way to go...
  17. Serfas is a good brand. I have some of their kit and tools and they have not disappointed me. The gloves I have are the best I have ever found...
  18. The "dumbass" referred to the "roadie" slag. The rest I agree with 110%.
  19. +1 It's amazing how that attitude lets people think they can take on 1.5 tonnes of steel with 10kgs of carbon...
  20. Why "roadies". MTBers are even worse when they get near tar... So, instead of being so negative and making dumb@ss comments: It sounds like Capri Wheelers on their way to their Sunday morning Club ride. Contact their Club chairman (politely) and let him know about his members. His name is Leon Kramer: leonjkramer@mweb.co.za.
  21. Sounds good, also Velocity 32 spoke, Easton Vistas. I'm not an expert, but a higher spoke count is probably better. We ride the Velocity 32 spokes on our tandem (170kgs total), so you'll be quite safe.
  22. I find the 800 better in mud as it doesn't have the joystick and buttons that gunk. The touchscreen is a real plus for off-road..
  23. Where on earth do you get that idea from!!? I've owned a 705 and now an 800...
  24. A lot of people like to bash 'em, but "wow!". I've just gone to the Racetec web site and the results for the Randfontein EPR are up already! I am blown away! Well done Racetec!
  25. Same for the road race. Excellent marshalling and signage, all road obstacles clearly marked. A good job. We were also BTTW (I presume you mean the lads were BTTW? ;-) ) and the wind was conducive to a good race this year!
