  1. I've always wanted to do Sani across Lesotho to Ficksburg...
  2. Nice bike. Pity you couldn't afford the gear shifters... So not only are you going to kick my butt going uphill on that thing, but I'm also going to kill myself trying to keep up with you on the downhills! Luvverly...
  3. I've seen some in the far East. Springs, I think. Else the M1 on the third Sunday in November.
  4. The last time I went to Cajees their cycling guy didn't know the difference between road and MTB shoes. Don't expect any expertise there That's why I've never been back since...
  5. Nowhere is it near 19%. I'd agree with the 7% going up to maybe 10%...
  6. Oink
  7. Maybe it's just cluelessness? As a roadie who does a little MTB what you said about the lips is news to me*. Maybe these guys thought they were "helping"? Good to hear you are actually helping on upgrading the Spruit - well done! *It also means it wasn't me. Do all you offroad guys keep a spade in your Camelbaks?
  8. A SCOOP on Armstrong DOPING!? Must be that time of year again. Geez, I didn't realise the Tour was so soon...

    Giro Xar

Just got one as well. It's fantastically comfortable...
  10. Looks like a buff to me...
  11. If it works in the cars parks of Johannesburg, it'll be a breeze in the mountains...
  12. That's "traceroute" for all us non-Microshlock peons...
  13. He's got 14 votes - one for each of the IDs he was given by Home Affairs...
  14. I'll put my **** on a block that if you contact SS they will give a ****. I know Racetec do. The only ones I have come across who act that way are ChampionChip who really do not give a toss.
  15. No major news/skandaal here. If he doesn't fit into the team ethic then it's best for them to go their separate ways. It must have been a difficult decision. Best of luck to both sides.
  16. I also find it annoying. But that's trumped by the fact that they are pretty good at getting the results up timeously...
  17. You should have done the Honda Mountain Trophy last weekend, then...
  18. You should have done the Honda Mountain Trophy last weekend, then...
  19. Do you REALLY need to ask that question...? The answer is obvious.
  20. If the customer sh1ts on the floor, is he still right? Glad the story was cleared up.
  21. Don't worry. I have entered my tandem partner for the Sani2c and he had never ridden an MTB until just over a month ago. We entered the Route 42 MTB race and he blew at 45kms. He's kept to it and we have just finished the Honda Mountain Trophy finishing in the top third. MTBing is VERY different from road. In my opinion it's about keeping the power down - no slipstreaming or resting in the bunch. You have to pull yourself the whole way. Downhills are just as tough - or even tougher - than uphills. It's a slog. Ride and get used to it. If you have road base you'll pick it up quickly. You'll be more comfortable and then you can start worrying about the technical skills which will come with experience.
  22. Geez. That's even more dangerous than the roads nowadays...
  23. The cables clog up with mud. That's why they're good on tandems. You don't see much mud on the roads... Except in Johannesburg.
  24. Take her to the beginners clinic at Cycle Lab. I can't remember the name of the guy who runs it, but he's brilliant. She just needs to be there at the Club ride on Saturdays (07:00 at this time of year) at the Cycle Lab in Fourways. The beginners meet at the step of the shop and go for a ride around the suburbs. Email Carri-Ann Botha (club@cyclelab.com) for more details...
