  1. Mark, I wouldn't give up just yet. You had lots of competition yesterday, Crater Cruise, Race for Victory (Road and MTB) etc. We regularly ride the Spruit from my house in Bryanston and will certainly join you if we do not have other racing commitments. Maybe try to make it a monthly thing to start of and try choose a weekend without big races.
  2. This is getting worse and worse, Ali I hope you are ok. The ironic thing here is that the Cyclelab newsletter is always highlighting the danger of riding on Main Road in that area.
  3. And another lady was taken out by an ostrich yesterday about 500m from the finish. Think she was taken away in an ambulance. Any news on her too?
  4. I also know Ben and that is terrible news. I hope he comes through it ok and can adapt to the loss. Ali if there is anything that we as the cycling community can do to help him please let us know and thanks to the McLeans and the rest of the Cyclelab crew for looking after him so well.
  5. 5:30pm and it caters for all levels so fitness doesn't matter.
  6. Rode the other end of the Spruit this morning and the worst thing I saw was The Thug and Jules. We need to get more details on these incidents, seems very strange that in two days at almost the same time there have been two incidents. I have a good contact at Randburg SAPS, I will ask him to check with Sandton if these cases were reported and if so what the complete details were.
  7. Maybe a stupid question but why was the cop holding his gun? I thought it was supposed to be holstered unless in use but I am certainly no expert. Glad the guy is ok and does anyone know anymore details about who he is and the bike make etc.?
  8. SlaveToLove, have you only been looking on Websites? Maybe pop in to some of the cycle shops and ask their salesman to show you the range of bikes with different groupsets and wheels and ask him to justify the differences to you. Probably better to go to one of the bigger stores with a larger selection of bikes. At the end of the day a lot comes down to personal preference but any entry level bike with at least Shimano 105 components will last you for sometime (at least until you are ready to upgrade to the latest and greatest carbon fibre racing snake machine ). Good luck and once you think you have the made the decision post your thoughts here for feedback before you take the plunge.

And yes Andrew mentioned the Dome Crit at the end of the show and that it was organised by Alex (Russian).
  11. Yup would have joined you but long Crater Cruise (race) on Saturday followed by short Crater Cruise (cruise with friends) on Sunday.
  12. I think a 3:03 will already give him a better seeding than G for next year.
  13. Holy is that wrap or rap? Just asking your journalistic opinion .
  14. Is that all while still on your bike? If so do you have a link to a youtube video for us please?
  15. I had problems with one after riding in rain, it misted up shortly after and then a few weeks later stopped working. Generally though they are pretty waterproof.
  16. Andrew hope you have a great Birthday and all the best for the year. Maybe you can slow down a bit now you are getting older and give the rest of us old toppies a break
  17. Heathway Centre, Beyers Naude drive just past Cresta heading towards the N1.
  18. Sh!t have you taught the whales to ride bikes? Edit: sorry for the hijack Titus and good luck with the ride. Hope the weather holds out. IanJ2008-10-01 08:11:23
  19. Critical Mass needs at least 2 participants.
  20. There is something very unfreindly in the air at the Dome' date=' every Crit to date I've been on Sinumax and antihistamines for 2 or 3 days after wards. Normally start sneezing by the time I get home. [/quote'] That's interesting, Sonic always has difficulty breathing at the Crit too.
  21. Aha there is your problem, in bed with the Mrs at 9h30 but what time did you get to sleep? .

    Powerlinks

Ok I stand corrected but I bought mine on the cardboard and read it somewhere on the packaging. With regard to your question about what to do when your chain is all Powelinks? It is easy, you start using Shimano pins .
  23. IanJ I'm also busy building cree lights. Getting the housings machined so not doing it myself' date=' if you're interested I can machine a few extra. Don't have enough leds and drivers to give you all the parts so you'll have to order em yourself from cutter. Will let you know once I have a price on the machining of the housing. Will prob open m a thread with my first light and the new one with the nicer housing. I have my first one for about two months now and it's an absolute pleasure to ride with it. My topspeed with the light in jonkerhoek is about 64km/h so there's enough light!!!!![/quote'] Cool, look forward to hearing from you.
