  1. DIY: http://www.instructables.com/id/MintyBoost!---Small-battery-powered-USB-charger/ Order on line: http://www.proporta.com/F02/PPF02P05.php?t_id=2725&t_mode=des They were just the first few I found, there are lots of options available even solar powered but that won't help you in the Trans Baviaans. Just google "USB Charger"
  2. Your crank arm still? What do you need?
  3. Would numbers help Shaun? What about getting personalities involved like Andrew Mc etc. I know it is the kind of thing CSA should be doing but couldn't we set up some kind of representative body or am I jumping the gun?
  4. Does anyone know what the official stance is on supporting cycling as an alternative means of transport? I heard that they are scared of losing too much revenue on Fuel tax. Shaunh did you not make any contacts at that conference last year in Midrand?
  5. I still remember last year on leaving Louis Trichardt on the Sunday morning after the race, we were pulled over by a traffic cop. Full of apprehension I wind down my window as this big traffic cop strolls over. You can imagine our surprise when he proceeds to issue us with breakfast yoghurt and muffins, thanks us for visiting the town and wishes us a safe journey home. Now that is what I call hospitality
  6. Unless you ride the spruit . We were even given free Coke yesterday at a water point for a road race on Jan Smuts Ave. That is the Coke you drink of course, the guys on the Urban Assault might have got hold of the other type.
  7. Happy Birthday Spidey, hope you have a great day. Ian and family.
  8. night tider, I would be interested in the package for self assembly. The only thing that has put me off in the past was the housing and heatsink manufacture so this would suit me.
  9. You start in the group you entered in i.e Elites, Vets (30-39), Ladies, Vets (40-49) etc. then the social group after.
  10. But have you seen your weather forecast for tomorrow?
  11. Don't worry ewep, I am the same, trying to find a heater to thaw out .
  12. I find it depends on the weather, if it is a cold day you need to minimise the time you stand for as much as possible. i would say the ideal is to get to the start about 10 minutes before your start time. Having said that though you may find yourself at the back of the bunch and end up having to chase to keep up with the front guys. Personally I will be riding from the place we are staying (about 10km) and will plan to arrive about 20min before the start. Can always ride around near the start if time allows.
  13. Why not go for a warm up ride? How far are you staying from the start, maybe you can ride there?
  14. I think the difference is whether you are racing or riding to finish and enjoy it. Racing is a whole different ballgame and every stage can hurt but at least it's only for 50km then you have plenty of time to recover. I don't think Zoo will have any problems with the Kremetart route .
  15. The secret to the Kremetart is not to see it as 175km of pain but rather 3 x 50km short races followed by a 25km shorter race. Yes stages 1 and 2 have climbs but Stage 1 is only for the first 15km or so and then the rest is downhill or rolling. Stage 3 with the wind can be a pain so make sure you get in a bunch. Stage 4 is painful but the pain is short and you know that you have a cruise down to the finish after the hill. You have plenty of time to recover after each stage so relax and enjoy it.
  16. Yes there are spacers available, most bike shops should stock them. I had to fit them to my MTB shoes for the same reason.
  17. And arm warmers, and leg warmers and ear warmers (well I do anyway). Nothing like stopping for coffee and a croissant at 6:30 on a cold winters morning after a good hard ride.
  18. Implants ???
  19. Very nice job, the white tyres work well too, compliments the rest of the bike.
  20. I know the Morewood guy through business, pm me your details and i will ask him to contact you.
  21. Ha! So we'll see you tomorrow at Illovo 05:15 so you can plod the streets of Jhb' date= then? We'll give you a dose of reality, laddie! [/quote] Will be there Wednesday morning, top of William Nicol as usual.
