  1. At weekends it must be Cyclelab JHB, at times there must be up to 400-500 in the various groups.
  2. You should have called her a &*%$# or a *&%#* &%#. I did, very loudly, how did you know ???
  3. Here is a twist in the tale: This morning at about 7:30 Sonic and myself are on our way home from our morning ride. As we come down Sandton Drive (at about 60km/h) and round the bend towards Grayston I see the light is green for us so on we go. Next minute there is Metro Ford Bakkie which has just pulled off the pavement sitting squarely across both left hand lanes in the middle of the intersection !!! It was a female Metro Cop driving and she was trying to cross Sandton Drive to go up Grayston. I knew I wasn't going to stop at the speed I was going but luckily as I got close she edged forward about a metre leaving a gap between the bakkie and the kerb which we just managed to squeeze through. I used some really choice language (normally reserved for taxi drivers) but she just drove off.
  4. I think Cyclelab has an academy for juniors, can anyone confirm?
  5. Are you seriaaaaaARSE ? Jokes aside I don't know how comfortable that plank would be for a woman . IanJ' date=' it seems to have all my requirements but I want to try it before I spend a fortune buying one!! [/quote'] Ok interesting, I wouldn't have thought it would be comfortable.

  7. Stop showing off and maybe you should sell some of that bling and buy a lawnmower (or a couch). Looks very cool by the way.
  8. Damn bruce' date=' what is in your water bottle. [/quote'] It's easy to get up to 80 down that hill, it's the only road that I know of that you regularly overtake cars.
  9. BigBen, I can identify with your signature. Believe it or not the boss still hasn't realised that my MTB suddenly changed from Silver with V Brakes to Red with disks late last year. Just hope she isn't a guest on the Hub.
  10. You mean you were in the car? I thought you meant on your bike. That's where I love driving my old Range Rover with the huge steel bull bar. It has several scrapes from altercations with taxis etc.
  11. Theres actually nothing to argue about, the guys are in the wrong and are breaking the law. If they get caught they cannot complain (actually should read if "we get caught" cos I am just as guily as the rest). I just don't know, as Jason pointed out, how would they issue fines or whatever?
  12. Sorry slowpoke just realised that my comment was a bit too light hearted for a serious thread like this. Rest assured that my thoughts are with the guy and I really hope he can pull through.
  13. This is an excerpt from the letter page of the Sandton Chronicle our local Newspaper: Cyclists behave badly<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> "Andy" writes: As I fellow cyclist and a motorist, I would like to raise what I consider a major issue for the cycling as well as the motoring communities. Having been involved in cycling for the past 35 years, as an active competitor and serving on my previous club's committee, I need to raise the issue of red traffic lights. There is a large group of cyclists that persist in ignoring traffic control. The group cycles down Sandton Drive at approximately 6am weekday mornings and ignores red lights while crossing Grayston Drive and Marie Road intersections. I'm sure these are not the only intersections where this transgression occurs. There was a near miss with a car at the Marie Road intersection the other day, and there will shortly be a case where the cyclists will be driven into or knocked down, with the motorist being the innocent party, but in all likelihood, be given the blame by these cyclists. Is it not time the bodies in control of these cyclists are taken to task before the already strained relationship between cyclists and motorists is worsened? A spokesman for Central Gauteng Cycling comments: Thank you for bringing this to our attention. To the guilty parties, please be advised that we have forwarded this correspondence to the Metro police and asked that they fine those cyclists who do not abide by the rules of the road. We cannot blame motorists for a bad attitude when we completely ignore basic safety rules. It is a pity that a few culprits are ruining the reputation of the broad cycling community. Beautiful Legs

Spidey, when did you wake up with Ewep ???
  15. Just a thought but can you not put a longer bolt right through with a nut on the back?
  16. We had a route back which did not go on the highway at all (thanks ewep). Was 80km back to Nasrec and we could even stop at the Circus for cofee and a snack.
  17. Jason, just personal experience here. I have found that with the original factory cables and housings they do not collect dirt and will function for months. Eventually though they start to stick and then when you clean and relube them they very quickly stick again after only a few weeks. For the price of a cbale set it is worth just replacing every 6 months or so. However, I know you have that fancy stuff so not sure in your case, does it use a standard inner cable or is that also some hi-tech material? Why not mail the manufacturers?
  18. In the little red Lear Jet ???
  19. Ag stop it now you lot! All we have are overcast skies, taxis and friggin mine dumps . I get so jealous when the guys living in the lovely scenic parts of our country start these bragging threads.
  20. And we need to book, Ronelle, Wayne, Cruxie and Michelle to take pics.
