  1. I cant wait for the weekend.
  2. WTF. I dont get close to a 1000km on a chain.
  3. They are just jealous because we are so much better than them . Mere mortals need cars. We are gods. Nothing they say has any truth to it.
  4. Training on water only? If you can ride a bike on water, You dont need to train. You have it sorted already.
  5. I did the 26" tube thing last night. It was so easy I could have used a hand pump. They Seald instantly. POP. done Pythons on a Mavic M19 with stans. They were done before the first beer. I had to sit and look at them for another hour to finish the beer allocation.
  6. I was in the second line of riders in the start chute telling a friend how much better cycling is with cleats. As the race briefing starts I shift my weight to the other foot that is still clipped in. I took four other rider on the line with me to ground as I fell flailing like a fish out of water . Luckily no one was hurt (Ego) excluded , but the mc made sure that every one knew what happend. And told everyone to beware of race number xxx. If you pass, Pass wide. The whole ride riders were sure to rmind me to unclipp at the water points.
  7. An extra plastic bag weighs nearly nothing.
  8. Thanks . My budget and carbon steerers dont meet.
  9. I have this little number. The problem is I have 20mm hubs with the 15mm conversion. The 2 inserts do not meet in the middle. So when I try to pull the axle out it expands in the center and I have to stick something into the hub to get it out. So Now i just need an aluminium/pvc/persprex or other non-collapsing sleeve/tube/pipe place between the 2 conversion inserts. Does anyone know where i can find piece of pipe with an inner diameter of 15/16mm and outer diameter of 20mm.
  10. Thanks. The headset came with the frame but without the starnut thingy. Lunch at the LBS it seems
  11. If you are in the front of the bunch and every second counts. Then 2X10 and even 1X11 makes sense. If you play at the middle and stop to chat at the waterpoints, No. 3X8 are also a lot cheaper. I replace my chain rather frequently. Measure after every ride and if it is streched(worn) past 0.5 then I replace it . This saves me from having to replace the whole drive train again. The cumulative difference between a 10 speed and an 8 speed chain acounts for a few race entries. Maybe I am just cheap. My next build will be more robust. I'll make my legs faster to make up the difference.
  12. Just got a new fork, Still in the box. It doesn't have a star nut to go down the steerer tube or a cable housing for the remote lock out. Am I expecting too much.

    Dear Motorist

Yes we have the rights to the road too. But I have a functioning brain. This morning I saw 2 brave cyclists taking on Jan Smuts from Rose bank towards town.
  14. Know how to change a tube. I am the cycling advocate at work and have managed to get a guy to start cycling and now commuting too. I just spent 25 minutes on the phone helping him change his first tube. He is a virgin no more.
  15. Please excuse my ignorance. Where is Kings Kloof ?
  16. the question should be: 29" or 26" ss ?
  17. If you are fast enough.
  18. Isn't there also a law that your bicycle should be registered. Remeber those little metal tags ? Or was that only in Pretoria ?
  19. Amen
  20. Having done too much driving and not enough cycling and running the last few weeks I had the following discussion with my self. People i dont like on the road. 1. Taxis. 2. Trucks 3. People that are selfish and think they won the road. 4. People that speed. 5. People that drive too slow in the right hand lane. 6. Butt kissers that donw under stand the concept of a following disctance 7. Solid line blind hill over takers The list grew and grew and I came to the conclusion that I just dont like other people so if everyone else would be so kind as to leave the planet I would really apreciate it. Thanks
  21. PM me with the rest of the detail and you'll be reunited.
  22. I went for a 36 km ride. Muddy conditions. When done I washed my bike and saw this. What went wrong ? This is the lower jockey wheel . The top one still looks fine. The chain is just streched over 0.5 Still below 0.75 Any Ideas.
  23. Some of the same pictures we had here last year when the scamster was operating from an empty lot in Plettenbergbay. I put money on that is is the same trickster
  24. From wikipedia. And we all know wikipedia is the ultimate reference guide The medical establishment has acknowledged major shortcomings of BMI.[22] Because the BMI depends upon weight and the square of height, it ignores basic scaling laws whereby mass increases to the 3rd power of linear dimensions. Hence, larger individuals, even if they had exactly the same body shape and relative composition, always have a larger BMI.[23] Also, its assumptions about the distribution between lean mass and adipose tissue are inexact. BMI generally overestimates adiposity on those with more lean body mass (e.g., athletes) and underestimates excess adiposity on those with less lean body mass. A study in June 2008 by Romero-Corral et al. examined 13,601 subjects from the United States' third National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES III) and found that BMI-defined obesity (BMI > 30) was present in 21% of men and 31% of women. Using body fat percentages (BF%), however, BF%-defined obesity was found in 50% of men and 62% of women. While BMI-defined obesity showed high specificity (95% for men and 99% for women), BMI showed poor sensitivity (36% for men and 49% for women). Despite this undercounting of obesity by BMI, BMI values in the intermediate BMI range of 20–30 were found to be associated with a wide range of body fat percentages. For men with a BMI of 25, about 20% have a body fat percentage below 20% and about 10% have body fat percentage above 30%
