  1. When they catch you off guard and all the settings are wrong and you cannot get your fingers to move fast enough. These guys flew over the house. I heard the baby calling and just ran outsider with the camera. Plenty of post noise reduction and smoothing and editing and painting out tree branches. And kicking myself for not checking the settings first! A few seconds on settings would have got much better shots. But lessons learnt. Hopefully they will come by tomorrow at the same time and I will be ready. Ok, maybe not ready. African Harrier Hawk, aka Gymnogene
  2. The Cape = Wind = Mavic Air. Will wait for black friday clear out specials, or any other specials.
  3. Glad you are ok Amber ! Pleased that someone was able to help you.
  4. Thinking the in the western cape, a little breeze could really hamper the flying. It would be terrible to buy something and not be able to use it, despite the great weather. And then a total out the box question. Anyone flow the drone late into the evening for sunset pictures ?
  5. Tank, how does the Mini handle wind ?
  6. No matter what extension you buy, always buy 2. You can never have enough extension. The plug is always that little bit to far away. Always.

  8. Oh yes, this is from my back yard a few nights ago. Inspiration from this guy: https://astrobackyard.com/
  9. OK, so not the best photo's by ANY stretch of the imagination. But my first attempt at deep sky photo's without using a sky tracker. The first image is Mimosa (of the southern cross) showing the Jewel Box cluster. The second is a zoom, and you can clearly see how out of focus everything is. These are stacked images, of 1.3s making 4 minute exposure. I used a 7dmk2 on a 200mm f2.8 lens. The 3rd image is of Wezen (star bottom left surrounded by an arc of stars) (part of Canis star cluster and on the right you can see the Canis open star cluster (you need to zoom in and see the specs of stars). A 3 minute exposure and out of focus.

  17. So many questions! Drone? And been wanting to ask for a while, what camera gives that front view ? Software to make it all happen ? And of course how much time did this vid take to make and then put together ?
  18. oh and another thing - seems Momsen's GP300's are for sale in the classifieds. In a world half full I presume this would be to upgrade to something more carbon like?
  19. But is there space for front suspension on a gravel bike (Lauff excluded) Or asked another way ... put thinner tyres and drop bars on a normal hardtail?
  20. If you put drop bars on a hard tail mountain bike, would it be a bad thing ? EDIT: Not mine - but taken from the net as I am considering this.
  21. In a seriously crazy idea, would you still plan and put into action immigration to NZ?
