  1. Ai ai ai .... 'monstercross' bikes are like single speed bikes ..... you don't BUY one, you BUILD one 😜
  2. "These people don’t see that if you encourage totalitarian methods, the time may come when they will be used against you instead of for you." Just ride so you can escape these things of the world even if just for a short while! #ItsWhatIDo
  3. If anyone gives a rat's backside, I have fitted 13t pulleys to my otherwise standard M7000 rear derailleur... Clearance for the wheels, sufficient B screw clearance and the chain doesn't run on that irritating piece of metal between the 2 pulley wheels Pictures on request
  4. I can just see the ponytails sitting round the table at the weekly meeting going 'ok so everyone has a 29r now so how to sell more bikes' oh maybe we'll just make bigger wheels ..... AGAIN 😁
  5. In our 'hood, Alberhoughton, one needs a bloody gravel bike to ride ON the roads lately😞
  6. Sorry OP but just a slight hijack. As usual I'm mucking about with something, have printed a 'TanPan' type gadget to use a 10sp clutch RD with 10sp Road STI's on my other gravel bike. The RD I intend using for my testing has no pulley wheels. It normally uses 11t ones So as always JUST BECAUSE I CAN I'm thinking to print some 12t ones and try them in the standard cage .... any thoughts guys? I could even print 13t ones I suppose but I wonder about the clearance in that standard cage .... Lest ya'll forget marginal gains worked for Team Sky so don't come at with me that those .049 watts don't matter 😜
  7. Is there anything the Boss can't do 😎
  8. 'Slack' wax ... no wonder my bikes are slow! Demmit ... so which lubes are not slack?
  9. IMHO besides for the 'anorak' types that notice these things (friction, longevity etc.) for the average Joe it's more important to lubricate your chain OFTEN than even what lube it is. Just an observation
  10. Some real 'urban' cruising today ... just for fun! So it would seem that my clan don't have a 'tribal' tattoo, devastated 😒 Wasted the money on a grande cap and giant muffin instead 😎
  11. As my Dad would have said 'jy kan jou vinger in jou eie hol afbreek as jy hard genoeg probeer' .... As Tyron says you ride anything on almost anything but whether it's a good idea is a whole different question #EkSeMaarNet
  12. Lest we forget that when you scratch these itches it also comes with an immediate performance improvement .... Not necessarily because of what you've bought but to justify it to yourself (ok then your wife/partner) you'll put in more effort! Win/win I reckon so get it 😎
  13. 'Bacca, being a rather astute fellow, I would assume means the ladies road race today 🀷
  14. I'll have to wait till they make a "turbo" cause a "normally aspirated" one won't help me 😦
  15. Normally aspirated! "Come on summer, come on, come on"
  16. Ai ai ai πŸ˜ͺ So sad to hear of his passing, what an absolute gentleman. Learnt lots from him when I was starting out and got some cool bits from him over the years. RIP Thug
  17. Hoping for your sake mate but the weather's all over the place at the moment so who knows πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«
  18. Just taking any chance I get to ride lately, not that regular but it's OK One of those days in the south that either the windsock is broken or you really can take off in any direction you like πŸ‘
  19. Off topic but I had this long post typed up about people but I know its wasted here and elsewhere Suffice to say that comments like 'sooner or later they all let you down' get my back up! I assume those who say things like that have never made a mistake or a slip up ever or even forgotten something nor have the businesses, industries etc they are in? But hey that bike shop they better be 100% 'on point', as the cool kids say, every minute of every day My Dad, bless his soul, told me when I was a young man that had just made a serious mistake at work after only working half a year or so "The person who never made a mistake is either unemployed or wearing a chicken costume handing out flyers at the robot" Lest I forget, don't mind me I'm old and grumpy πŸ˜›
  20. No amount of hours spent at 'bike fitment' will be a silver bullet when what's needed is actually just getting 'bike fit'... Sometimes it really is just TITS so that your body can adapt. If you've already done the hard yards or buying a first bike it is probably well worth the $$$ to have a bike fitment but hey I'm just a hacker, old and grumpy so don't mind me
  21. Either I'm that crap a cyclist (more than likely) and don't feel any benefit or else I've never hit the 'luck' of getting a 'contaminated' tin of anything and I've been through quite a few in my time πŸ€”
  22. Some updates ... got a 'wider' range cassette so now it has an 11-32, luckily as I had to change the crank (that carbon one is toast) so now has a 53 blade instead of the 50! The chain does come off on rare occasions and that just irritated me, have 3D printed and fitted this chain guide for peace of mind. 50x11-21 vs 53x11-32 I'll take it 😎
  23. IMHO and stats just made up as we do ... 90% is just excuses and dishonest people using any trick to get out of their positive tests/bans etc. Some of these stories come up so often it's honestly laughable 'contaminants' 'from my rump steak last night' Anyway I just left the 10% as I'm sure there are supporters here that'll say I know XYZ and he'd never do that ... And I just continue watching the racing for the spectacle that it is ... I used to say that about the men's racing only but I'm starting to wonder Maar nou ja hier is ons
