  1. Actually I wonder how those 'cheap' online purchases are doing at 20USD to the ZA rondt .... Like those shoes and helmet you try on at your LBS for fit then order online 🫣
  2. Ma se hare 🫣 A quick zoom into that windsock way in the distance would indicate Gale certainly got up on the wrong side of the bed today! The Highveld certainly not the prettiest in winter ..
  3. Jissis bra, coffee everywhere 🤣🤣🤣
  4. From personal experience .... If you mount something (especially of value like a Garmin) on your bike using a 3d printed mount best to make sure you use a 'tether' for when it breaks/delaminates #EkSeMaarNet
  5. As mentioned the Monster has always been tough and that's how it is ... having said that not everyone likes/is comfortable/ has the Hub cool skills to 'shred the gnar' There is a place for events that don't require super skills but I guess I'm probably alone in thinking that
  6. Thankfully no 'aerobars' being used, they have no place on gravel bikes 😜
  7. “Sanity spin is the technical term for riding when it’s not necessary for my legs or lungs but 💯 essential for my head and heart 💕 🚲"
  8. I don't own one and wash my bikes 'on demand' I have however been in an environment where it was necessary to wash bikes with a pressure washer in the interest of time where I learnt there is a 'right' way
  9. If you're not a klutz and go at it like a bull in a China shop nothing wrong with using a pressure cleaner to wash your bike ... due care is required. Just my 2c
  10. I offered services within the Alberton area which I guess isn't that big ... I even did a trip to the south of Jobeg to Suzuki to fetch some spares for a guys car he was working on! He did pay me a bit extra 😃 I used an unassisted bike with no issues And just my last comment to this is that at least in my experience people were not interested doesn't matter how efficient, 'green' or fast it was ... they'd rather get in their own car go get it themselves or believe that a vehicle, 4 or 2 wheel, is faster and better! Yes there may be some more 'hipster' areas around where its 'cool' but they are certainly in the minority Good luck to the OP though, it certainly was a lot of fun while it lasted for me. Quite a few of the trips I did the recipients were surprised how quick I got what they needed to them, also took some stuff that I'm sure was 'dodgy' but how would you know...
  11. Thanks so much for the offer, Graham is just down the road from me so I'll pop passed there this morning
  12. Ai .... you help me so much my friend! I'll pop passed this morning, thank you
  13. Looking for an 11sp mtb cassette, condition is not important ... just want to test the clearance with a specific gravel bike setup before I go out and buy the necessary bits ... as I always do 😎 Hopefully in the Alberhoughton and surrounding areas if possible please.
  14. I started a bicycle messenger/delivery service during Covid and ran it for a while ... certainly not financially worthwhile despite all the 'wow that's a great idea' most people will still rather get in their own car and go get the stuff they need sadly. Luckily I did it for fun and something to do as I had that option, it was a blast while it lasted. Most people were surprised how quick they got their stuff from a 'bicycle rider' vs a car or motorbike ... all in the suburb stuff but a soon as Covid was over they just hopped back in their car and went and got it. Go figure?
  15. End with the 1 you had if you're lucky 🫣
  16. How to make a million with a bike business? Start with 2 ....
  17. A lekker 3 speed coffee ride with my son ... I was never a 'coffee ride' person but after the experience I had the last few months of last year and the passing of a very good friend Thursday night I have certainly changed my attitude to my riding and life in general! Make the most of the time you have
  18. Bunch of pink blouses 👚 Gears are for housewives and primary school kids 😜
  19. Kyk Noord en ... "The wind shows us how close to the edge we are." Gale is a tough tough training partner!
  20. So I can report that it works an absolute charm, meaning it shifts up and down perfect with no noise or any little 'over shifts' needed 😁 Clearly not for everyone or any bike ... I know I'm fortunate enough to have bikes to just try obscure stuff on so the fact it only has 8 gears and 'only' 12-21 doesn't phase me. I'll just ride it on roads that suite it, it can stay a while ... in time I may well try that 10sp option and report back then. P.S I'll get all the necessary bits together in the meantime for that test. I have the RD just need a chain and cassette
  21. 2 reasons, it was single speed so if anything some would say its an upgrade having gears? And BECAUSE I CAN 😁
  22. OK then I'm not going to rush into it ... thanks droo Going to test the 8sp botch just now and if it's OK I'll leave it like that till I'm really bored again then try the 10sp option Shifts fine on the bike stand but we all know that's not necessarily the litmus test!
  23. Whoop whoop ok now we talking ... assuming you're running that? I do have a 10sp SRAM rear derailleur and that'll certainly be my next test 😃
  24. Thankfully and this I never knew ... because as I always do I ran my idea passed Grumpy ( @GrahamW ) ... he informed me that I can't just slap a Shimano gear cable in a Campag shifter 😵 - that man is a bloody treasure trove of useful information!
  25. The starting point was that I have the Bianchi 'Ducati' road bike I have posted before built as a single speed ... being bored and thinking about something to keep busy I decided to experiment It was anyway built with a set of Campag Veloce 10sp shifters of which the left lever was faulty and not working, was all good as it was really only for the brakes. It would therefore have to be a 1x which also meant no fiddling with front dérailleurs and stuff. With some extensive research (trolled the Web for an hour) it appeared that using an 8sp Shimano derailleur and cassette would work as the 'pull ratio' was the same. Keeping in mind I don't anyway have any wheels with campag freehubs ... Checked the 'vintage part box' as Grumpy calls it and low and behold an 11-21 8sp cassette (from my young and stupid days) and chain and an Ultegra 9sp Derailleur. The downside ... could clearly only use 8 gears but hey for fun of it that's fine and 'BECAUSE I CAN' 😜
