  1. Peeps need to go a bit easier on the Omo up river ๐Ÿ˜’
  2. The weather has played havoc with the local off road rides, almost everyone goes across that bridge to get to the better bits ... still not really rideable, you could klap 'n toon through some mud and go though. The other options all need loads of tar and it seems it'll rain again soon so it'll be a while still I guess ๐Ÿ™„
  3. Not sure many have seen a 10sp 11-50 cassette but I happened upon one as one does when you're scratching around ๐Ÿ˜œ Decided to change my gravel bike from 2x 32/42 ร— 11-36 to 1x 42 x 11-50 which meant I ended with pretty much the exact same gearing ๐Ÿ˜ƒ 2 challenges I was pretty sure of was whether the 9sp derailleur would be able to reach even with a longer B screw and would the chain stay on the front blade. The derailleur wouldn't work, the cage stopped against the second gear, got an extender which sorted that problem. The shifting isn't perfect but definitely usable I decided to 3D print a chain guide and modify it for this purpose. Took quite a few goes but settled on one. Busy printing the final one in black now. Did a short test ride on all sorts of terrain this morning and it was all good ... the weather is turning crappy again so knows when I'll get to do a proper long ride Thanks to @TheoGand @Jewbacca for the assistance!
  4. Thanks for the thought mate! Jewbacca esquire will ship to me post haste ... Good man that ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  5. 'Horses are afraid of anything that moves or makes a sound'
  6. You're a scholar and a gentleman! I'll DM you ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  7. Looking for a Derailleur hanger extender like the one's Rapide sells ... don't want to buy one yet as what I'm trying to do may not work! If it does work I'm happy to pay for it or return it and buy a new one from Wayne ๐Ÿ˜Ž Fanks ou's
  8. As mentioned for beginner riders with cleats, never said for hub super talented riders ๐Ÿ˜œ
  9. There's a fine line between bravery and stupidity ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  10. Boggles the mind ... When I started riding I got my boet's brother in law to bring me a few sets from the States. The big advantage was that you could even 'pull' your foot out of necessary. @Eldronin those days I didn't do much 'bumpy' stuff and as soon as I was confident with them I went to normal cleats
  11. Not sure if I have posted this before ... A mate wanted to fit Di2 to his TT bike but it had a mount for an external battery and no real space for an internal battery inside the aero seat post. He wanted an internal battery! I designed this from scratch, did have to print a few 'prototypes' to get it right but he's done a few rides already and all good ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  12. If I look at Thaba XCO yes there are but even some of those ๐Ÿ˜ณ and its only on the downs, the ups are frikkin steep
  13. I've had my go at XCO racing and with today's standard of courses there is no chance in hell I could get through even 1 lap without walking and that's on both the steep climbs and the technical downs ... as my mate Wayne says if I wanted to walk I'd get a dog! And for the 'everyone can learn' experts I've put in enough effort but there comes a time when you realise you just don't have the talent or 'balls' ... So for me I love marathon and endurance riding/racing, but as usual it's probably just me ....
  14. Aweh ๐Ÿ˜ณ Quite a bit of 2nd gear but fortunately didn't have to 'klap 'n toon' !
  15. That's the time I answer with no but for you I can specially do it at a 10% premium!
  16. Yes the blue is definitely optional ... I ride the green which I find tough enough and within my 'limited' technical skillset. The orange is 15, green 20 and blue 30
  17. What is it about riding at Thaba Trails as opposed to 'outrides' that makes it so special ... - you're guaranteed to see some wildlife - wrestling the bike up some rocky bits - hearing the sound of the back wheel skipping and slippin on the downs - occasionally hearing tyres pinging on rocks - being alone with your thoughts, no traffic ... NO traffic at all - trails that are well maintained in such a way that they are not 'manicured' but still an absolute blast to ride! If you've never been or haven't been for a while you owe it to yourself to go and have some fun ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  18. I think his main focus was that the chainring would fit and it'd be as round as possible ...
