  1. That's correct ... some more work being done on the XCO route at the moment. I can't ride most of it but still had an absolute blast on it with Wendell this morning! Will post an elevation pic a bit later today ....
  2. Yes .... As long as its red, red bikes are always faster!
  3. Contemplating what makes a 'gravel friendly' route ... came to the conclusion that the 'litmus test' was you could ride all the way not having to get off but after that?
  4. Is it possible to get a cage of any kind that doesn't 'destroy' bottles? I'm assuming you mean scratch and make them look shabby as opposed to falling apart .... In my experience all the cages I have, several different types and 2 different side entry specifically, make new bottles look shabby within the first ride but I've just learnt to live with it. That's road and MTB BTW
  5. Holding up the illegal drivers in the emergency lane up Klipriver, taxi AND others, unintentionally and getting the driver's in the left hand lane 'shooting' (as my grandson Josua calls hooting) and waving .... priceless [emoji41]
  6. I can identify with that ... Last time I 'danced' they called the police, thought a fight had broken out!
  7. Jacquie Phelan Quote: “Refrain from throwing your bicycle in public. It shows poor upbringing.”
  8. I'm sure the e-bike police will be here any minute to take umbrage of what y'all are saying about those poor 'assisted' riders ....
  9. Graham W is also the same guy I refer to as Grumpy, he is an all round good guy, knowledgable and always helpful! Good on you Grumps [emoji41]
  10. I never get tired of being out riding as the sun rises ... That's over the 'Brackendowns flats' ...
  11. "Taper doesn't mean STOP" that's gold right there! Hope you don't mind if I steal that ....
  12. Don't bother with mine at all, not even on the bits of tar to and from the trails ... Thaba is about 8k's from my house.
  13. Rumour has it he'll take 9000 today ... Just saying!
  14. Taking the liberty to post this here in case anyone is looking for an absolute bargain before it goes and it'll probably go quick! Farr gravel bike for sale Size Medium SRAM Apex 1x11 TRP Hyrd hydraulic brake calipers Awesome build Tomorrow (Thursday 20/02) only R9999 cash takes it! Almost new, only done 2 or 3 rides. 15. Just thought I'd post this here for interest sake. I have a Cannondale Rush with XTR 11sp with a Sunrace 11-50 cassette and Rapide 32OVL blade that works pretty well besides sometimes thinking that the gear spacing makes me hunt between gears here and there ... 1 up is to hard and 1 down is to easy if you know what I mean ... Gotten used to it and ride it plenty. I also have a Cannondale Flash with XT 11sp with an XT 11-42 cassette and a Rapide 32RND blade ... Read here and elsewhere that the Sunrace 12sp shifters work just fine with an 11sp XT RD so decided to give it a go. @Kiwi kindly borrowed me a Sunrace MZ 12sp shifter, Grumpy from CycleHub a Sunrace 12sp 11-50 cassette and got a chain from my son at Just Cycles. Installation and setup pretty simple, swopped shifter (used the same outers), cassette and chain. Adjusted the B screw, indexing and good to go ... On the workstand and round the block that is! First ride was just an outride and it shifted 'ok' but I wanted to test it proper so next a ride at Thaba .... Wasn't very happy with the shifting, one or two shifts needed some help and I don't like that. I've previously stated my experience with these Heath Robinson type solutions Decided to have a closer look at the chain length and B-screw adjustment ... Turns out the chain was a little long so took out 1 link and re-adjusted everything. Now to my surprise it does actually shift properly everytime up and down, feels pretty 'crisp' and I like that the Sunrace shifter has that similar to Shimano 'push/pull' release! Will do a few different rides over the next week or 2 though and give an update after that. For now I'm happy and to be able to upgrade from 11sp Shimano to 12sp albeit a mix of components for a mere R3750 (shifter, cassette and chain) from Rapide I reckon is not to shabby! If you have to replace cassette and chain anyway I'd say look into this might well be worth your while.
  16. You could smell out the boerie rolls from the next suburb big guy [emoji12]

    MotoGP

The colour scheme etc. doesn't look much different to last year's bike? Then again neither do the factory Honda bikes ....
  18. Rode with Oom Thys this morning, a well known guy amongst the mountain bikers in the south for his bluetooth speaker he rides with at quite high volume. Amongst the gems he played this morning I can recall was something about a 'Boere Poppie' and 'Drie Pikkewyne' Muddy out but not unpleasant at all!
  19. It's a short step from wife beater top to secret socks, no just no!
  20. There was a pretty eina looking/sounding fall at about 20k's in the AS group ... Hope the guys that came down are ok!
  21. I looked out for you big guy [emoji848]
  22. A puncture, replaced the tube then about 20k's later another puncture only to find the solution in my little kit had dried up [emoji47] Those tyres had seen better days ... replaced them, all good at R4S today [emoji41]
