  1. Rough start, but welcome! I avoid roads on all together. Mountains and dirt only, for me, preferably where no cars can go. Still worried about the ebikes though😅
  2. I have done a 1x conversion on that crank, think I used a wolf chainring with Simano Zee derailleur (The whole conversion cost me around R2000) And keeping it 1x10 also reduces cost, as you can re-use the shifter. I wont spend too much extra, as there may be better value for money upgrades on the bike
  3. Thanks, think Im going to try them (PWC) out, was hoping red barn changes its opening again to 0600.
  4. Hi everyone, is there any nice trails around midrand, which opens at 0600? want to do some riding before work, but seems the near ones open at 0700.
  5. Keep in mind, the fire not all bad, every few years a fire is required to support the growth of Fynbos. Dont think Jonkers had a fire in more than 10 years, so not all bad. https://www.kbrc.org.za/news/fynbos-and-fire/#:~:text=Fire%20acts%20as%20mineralizing%20agent,certain%20period%20after%20the%20fire.
  6. Why are the mountain bikers concerned? You are mostly not using public roads (Like if I ride my Scrambler, no license or anything) I believe in any case bikes should be on the dirt, just a hassle to actual motorized vehicles on the road
  7. Also got a bite from Luts Denys
  8. Selling my South African vintage bike https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/292869-alpina-south-african-made/
  9. Not yet, but hoping once all these things blow over it starts picking up and maybe a little boost once they get kraken running again, haha. But BTC is like america, it sneezes and the rest of the world gets flu, haha
  10. Hopefully today is the day we see the recovery.... this massive drop this week gave good opportunity to reshuffle my portfolio. Whats your top 3 coins you are looking at today? XLM, ADA and TRX is where im at, with XRP being my stable investment!
  11. Probably April fools, but maybe not "all" bad, haha http://www.on-one.co.uk/news/products/q/date/2015/04/01/on-onsie-the-ultimate-post-ride-slouch-wear http://www.on-one.co.uk/files/oo/imagelibrary/blog/On-onesie2.jpg On-One is proud to introduce the latest addition to our clothing line-up, the On-Onesie! Designed for the rigours of the post ride slouch the On-Onesie is perfect for lying round with your feet up after a tough ride telling tall tales about the sweet jumps you took your bike off. After a long hard ride, there's no better feeling that stripping off your wet and muddy cycling kit and jumping straight into your On-Onesie. 12. Looks like his geometry, think its a commercial variant of one of his beasts. Here is the link http://www.mbr.co.uk/news/bike_news/mojo-and-nicolai-team-up-to-offer-a-unique-new-suspension-bike-326173#JIvGepC4RlMxz8Bp.99
  13. I can only dream for now: Refined in a nicolai type of way (mojo+niolai love child)
  14. These 2 bikes popped up on my FB feed, definitely drool worthy!! Sweet Nicolai, kitted with Hope And this slack Intense once off 650B slalom bike, Fox and renthal
  15. Check the tire clearance on the onone parkwood 29'er with 650 wheels, thats a 2.8 tyre on 35mm rim! Rim= WTB i35Tyres= WTB Trail Scraper 2.8
  16. Im also a military man , but not bald and walk my Labradors there, haha. Always happy when people build, but there was some dik dodgy/shoddy building last year, with sticks stuck in the ground to "mark" the new route, was in the lower parts. I used to build there near the skietbaan, those 4 rhythm jumps below the house we built back in matric over on hot December holiday ( with some rebellious/underage beer consumption, haha)
  17. Was there other day, still jumpable, but chain blocking drop-in. Not part of the old DH, the DH ends by the dam almost and starts up in the tree line. But no way to see it anymore, except if you know the track by memory. Saw some added things every now and again, but if track is block/re-directed i just kick it out of the way. Eden trails flow pretty naturally, like water flow almost, so the new ones dont last long.
  18. Logging messed up the refurbished DH track (Done by few local guys) so building in Eden zero/minimal at the moment. Most single tracks still decent and ride-able. I usually just hit few tracks and then head over to G-spot for my jump fix. Mark builds and maintains things on that side alone.
  19. lol.. does these new shops have that tyre smell. And the bike of owner must always stand at the counter:)
  20. "Finished" build after 4 years of tweaking her. Never truly finished though, posted under dreamy hardtails, as there is nothing on her I would like to upgrade, except perhaps dropper post. Got all the proper sweet parts, like Saint, Hope, Easton Haven and Spank/Nukeproof wheels. Prefer a longer stem at the moment, as I try and lengten my ride distances
  21. think all helmets have to fulfill/go through the same safety requirements.. so in theory you'll get same protection as a cheap helmet. But someone has to pay for the marketing
  22. Avid mechanical are sweet (probably better than their hydraulic offerings). After taking a glance at what people are asking for their second hand bikes on the classifieds, R46k prob not that bad... especially considering the economics of manufacturing extremely small quantities of parts like the BB,hubs and frames. Not nearly in my price class though
  23. I go around the 32:18, have to push in in some areas, but if I go any smaller, the flat area spin out just become to rough (only ride in the mountains, little to no jeep track)
  24. what you want in a more gravity orientated bike, I only have hardtails and you cant fir you're fingers between the seat tube and tire. Gives loads of control of the back wheel in the air, front end lifts easier and it manuals like a dream.
  25. Orange bike's are like a porsche 911, doesnt change much, the Yeti looks like a lambo... just needs guns and rockets
