  1. Mule for me
  2. Some are born smart, others like me learn the hard way helmets are necessary! haha Few minor, and 2 major concussions, last one leaving me in hospital for 2days and forgetting/losing most of my st9 year at school, since then I dont ride to 7-11 without a helmet.
  3. Got me a pair of the old Freeride from Diald just before Krismis, sweet shoes:) The element shoes I had before it lasted only a month and they were shot. http://fiveten.com/images/stories/jreviews/19_407101_1261720200.jpg
  4. My on-one... XC bike, I like doing it different
  5. Treees... all I can say, they felled all over some the forrest Singletracks (Eden & jonkers) so be carefull. But do a bit of a search, there is alot of trails indicated here on hub with google earth routes indicated and everything.
  6. PM me if you plan on going for a session, I used to ride stellenbosch bmx/trials.... And im back in town. Stellenbosch has some sweet staircases, wallrides and gaps. Was also looking for someone to go session with.
  7. Id say second hand, provided they've been ridden by someone who thought they we're going to DJ but never did --> Decent bike. Getting a bike that was properly jump might be looking for trouble, as most things will probably need replacing. Diald bikes also have a sale at the moment (http://dialdbikes.co...mountain-bikes/) My two preferences are a giant STP(had one) and a GT ruckus. Edit: Those entry level bikes like chucker/fireball's 2nd hand price is around R1800-2500. You should be able to get a proper DJ bike for around R4500, eg. Cannondale chase, Giant STP ar something with a proper shock, cranks and rims
  8. Or just pull the tyre off, Dont know on roadbike rims, but I havent come across a MTB tyre that cant be worked off with hands, even a slick.
  9. -Patch kit -No tyre lever... I have a method and strong hands;) -Tube -Small pump -Allen key's, Spanner (have a BMX hub on back, haha), Chainbreaker -Cable-ties -Spoke Tool, emergency wheel aligning to get home.. Happened a few times All this goes into my cammelback Mule, Dont race, just ride
  10. Each customs check is different, sometimes you lose, sometimes you win some
  11. Also probably depends how your riding style is, The way I ride AM is more DH/Jump orientated with little XC in the mix, thus I prefer my Xtra small frames and nimble feel. Also I like sitting upright and not leaning forward when riding. But I guess if you are going to put alot of miles on your bike, then longer stems might help. Edit: How short I like my setup and Im 1.84m on a Small frame
  12. I'm not exactly sure what you mean with TT? I just plug a short stem and wide bars. However the bike setup is, your body will get accustomed to it.
  13. Went up Jonkers today to ride some sweet single track. Took us about an half a hour to clear the last part, as felled trees ( Strong winds of 2 days ago) completely blocked off the trail end. Had to find an alternate exit to get home. Still had an awesome ride with steak sandwiches and beer at the top for a boost:)
  14. ^^ like he said, check my pics 1 or 2 pages back on the drive train, you can see the dropout
  15. Just cause, haha.. I weigh 95kg, so if I was weight orientated, it should have to start with me
  16. Weighed her now with my fishing scale, 11.2 Kg. Not to bad I think considering my platform pedals and other peripherals not aimed at weight saving.
  17. Still kicking me from behind, not used to saddle this high (need to get her rythm, all my other bikes are small/Xtra small bikes for jumping.), haha, but she carves Single track like a beast...
  18. mine took about 10days, make sure to get your local tracking number, mine was lying at the post office for 2 days without me knowing.
  19. Some more pics, as pics make the thread.
  20. As promised, here is my beast. 2 month of sourcing components off Gumtree/Hub and On one. Few extras from my LBS, where I could find the stuff I was looking for. Wheels: Easton XC one Tyres: Kenda small blocks Shock: Rockshox revalation Crank: SLX with on one ring Frame, Inbred 18"
  21. Starting to sound like a lot of Vaalies, I'll still swim there without worries.
  22. Dont know where these guys get there facts from, just shows, don't believe everything you read on forums. From me, I'd say go for it, I grew up swimming there and never heard of any sharks problems I was in the navy there in GB.. swam everynight/Early morning from 2300-0300 in the morning for training, no problem. Went round from the base to bikini beach aswell as towards spur. The navy has been swimming there since forever without shark incident. One night we even crossed the bay from the harbour to harbour Island to go have a dop at berties (but thats another story;) ) Sharks in GB are mostly raggies and bronzies which are harmless don't hassle anyone, know a few guys that fish there and the catches on sharks not that great from the breakwater. Very little activity from the Big eye's, as there is no food.. They feed on seals.
  23. Agree with this article. This year is the first year I own a Full sus, always Had DJ and BMX's. Hardtails gives you smoothness and skill, just bombing down a line is not what its about, its about finding the sweetspots in you line, which a Hardtail learns you the hard way.
  24. 5mm.. really? just checked it on a ruler.. mathematically you'll get difference in torque, but really?
  25. Had a look a few times, but sorry, no photos, haha.
