  1. The trail itself was quite muddy in places.
  2. Shock horror...! A problem with SRAM brakes..?! Well I never...
  3. Either Slowbs the serial moderator was following or he hit the report button himself.
  4. The only thing worse than a Speshilized is a Creakendale... Insert ninja and whistling emoticons here...
  5. That gaea is closest to a Santa Cruz Highball. Rouxie brought 1 in. Sweaty Betty. PM him for details.
  6. Next project is a chinese roadbike for the missus.
  7. I'd have gone 056 or 057 (hope hubs can go QR or TA) if I hadn't found my Highball frame for such a great deal. UD Matte is too tasty.
  8. http://www.hongfu-bikes.com/html_products/2012-new-29ER-MTB-264.html Or http://www.hongfu-bikes.com/html_products/2013-29ER-Axle-MTB-Frame-HF-FM057-284.html
  9. Awesome G, if u like the Momsen, look at the FM056 like Meezo's. That's my fave. And do yourself a fave and go BSA for a no nonsense, easy to maintain, easy to service BB. Good enough for Santa Cruz Bikes, good enough for me. At your level (and mine), the 'apparent' added stiffness of a BB30 isn't something we'd notice a difference in.
  10. Dbl Post
  11. It's already going. That's gonna be run mainly as a singlespeed though. Busy stripping the paint and sourcing parts. Will start a new thread about it in due course.
  12. As stated above, check out the Chinese carbon thread...
  13. Aluminium oxidises. Best to get it cleared or seal it with a good wax/polish...
  14. Ummm, don't confuse the fast flat Winter Fast One with the Summer one. Similar routes, but if it rains, like it almost always does for the summer one, it's anything but fast and easy. NSBB has it right going singlespeed. You will be rinsing your tyres and drivetrain in the river crossings, and keep some sort of mud scraper handy for between those.
  15. I find the paint on removers to be better. Nitromors is also good. To loosen that headset you can pull the stem out first by loosening the allen key bolt at the top and pulling the stem out, then use a 32 socket to loosen the headset.
  16. Rather make it Thaba. Far better technical riding than at Rietvlei. Sent my fiancé to the level 1 Tread Skills Clinic. She had to admit that everything she learned I had tried teaching her before. What she said helped her a lot and inspired more confidence is that Sean teaches according to a 'syllabus' and after going thru each skill, you do repeated drills till you get it right, before moving onto the next skill. She's a lot more confident at speed now and is cornering a helluva lot better. It's also something cool/different to do with your partner. I'm sure she argued less with and paid attention to what he taught her as opposed to me. She's amped for level 2, but he recommends you take a good few months of practicing what you learn in level 1 before signing up for level 2.
  17. Too SICK...!!! On my RP23 I switch it to setting 3 on the pro pedal (the stiffest) and pump it quite hard (about 5-10% sag). I find that from there if I use position 2 (med stiffness) or 1(softest) they give me around 25 to 35% sag respectively.
  18. If any budding artisans would be interested in buiding their own frame, this site's worth a look. http://www.bikelugs.com/store/ You can buy lugs, BB shells, tubing etc.
  19. You know when there's a chick in the bunch. You can smell the men's after shave from the opposite side of the road.
  20. My phone battery will never last.
  21. That was us returning from our 4:45. We passed a roadie bunch just after the airfield headed towards Alrode on Klipriver.
  22. I think it looks better than before. Adds a uniqueness that other owners of the same bike wont have...
  23. Train harder than ever. Try my hand (legs) at track cycling, learn the disciplines, get good at the one/s that suit me best. Make sure my 2015 comeback will be so good that it'll arouse suspicion.
  24. I'm only riding my 29r at the mo while I strip, refurb and rebuild my 26r. To be honest I'm having withdrawl symptoms. Can't wait to get back on the Superlight.
