Noted, and accepted. Tho as you'll see from my post, the doping I did was not for cycling, and certainly not to help me towards that Epic placing. It should not have been done, or at least the fact that it had been done should have been a consideration on my part before entering the event.

Sure Guy with a clipboard approached me, youngster, probably just a casual Epic staff member. Said "im sorry to disturb you sir, but you've been randomly selected for dope control". I asked what this means, he tells me that I need to accompany him to the UCI trailer within 15 mins to submit a urine sample. I quietly poop in my bibs. He tells me i can relax and catch my breath and eat my woolworths meal, but he needs to stand with me and not allow me out of his sight. He keeps his distance. I think he smells the poop. I finish eating and walk with him to the UCI tent & trailer. Another arrogant guy approaches me and starts writing on a form on his clipboard, my name and race number etc. I say arrogant because he asks me to produce identification. I just got off my bicycle after a near death epic experience, and when i say i dont have any on me, he starts interrogating me as to why not and where is it and how can i not have ID on me. I give him a mouthfull on why my driver's license wasn't a requirement for me to cycle the stage. Told him to get it from the race organizers... I'm given a cup and told to accompany a security guard to the portaloo behind the trailer and produce a minimum of 60 - 90ml of urine while he watches me produce it. Feeling a lil weird at this point but ok... I could easily have filled a 1.5 litre bottle, but hand the 90ml sippy cup to the guard while i expend the balance of my bladder's contents in the loo. He appreciates the warmth of the cup. He escorts me to the front of the trailer and i climb in and sit at a table across from an official who takes down all my details etc. I open a sealed polystyrene container with 2 bottles inside marked A and B. The official touches absolutely nothing, just instructs me on what to do. Fill bottle A up to a line, then seal it with the special lid, then place it in a bag then seal that too, then slot it back into it's slot in the box.Same for bottle B. Close and reseal the box and sign the completed form. A foreign chap assumably from the UCI pops his head in to greet me and asks if this is my 1st time at drug testing. I say yes, I'm not a UCI pro athlete so i knew nothing about the testing. He chuckles and leaves, then so do i. What happened next was CSA contacting me on wednesday then the press release of yesterday. The 'process' in a nutshell...

To be honest, as a social rider, I don't even know what a UCI grade 1 race is/means (i'll read up and educate myself), or that the Epic was one. I knew it's a damn tough race, and that i'd like to do it, and that it's gonna be for free, and so i jumped at it.

How many people go to the gym for a bit of cross training for cycling..? How many people know about pre workout supplements to boost energy and focus and increased bloodflow and vasodilation etc...? How many people know that most of these supplements contain 1,3 Dimethylamylamine, which is banned, and what rugby players got caught with. It's in products like Jack3d and Muscle Marinade and Hellfire to name a few. You can buy these products in the supplement section at dischem and use them, none the wiser, then enter the Trailseeker tomorrow, hell, with the stuff mixed in your bottle and get caught in K batch for doping. Not saying that i unknowingly ingested the Winstrol, but a lot of people enter for fun and dont give a crap that their gym pre-workout is not legal for Trailseeker use. At the Epic, at the Wellington overnight camp, there were okes hotboxing their tent with the fattest skyf, just after the finish when i got back from my shower and again when i got to my tent after dinner. Should i care that they finished ahead of us, with the presence of cannabis in their systems. Sure it's not exactly performance enhancing, but rules are rules, its a sanctioned race, and cannabis is banned. I just laughed when i smelled it, thought hey cool, every1's so chilled and just enjoying the event and riding their bikes through the cape. Thats the attitude most of us hackers at the back have. Should i have run to the UCI like a little bitch and let them bring Dog the bounty hunter to the stoner's tent...? Sounds like a few of you here may have...

I myself am confused as to how it was still in my system. As i said, i expected that if it did come back positive, it would be for the Testosterone Propionate i took around october, which was oil based and therefore the testosterone molecule is attached to an esther bond which would have stayed in my system longer. Most of the steroids available are not from registered pharmaciutical companies like Pfizer or Lilly, they are produced on the black market by 'underground' labs. You assume responsibility for taking a chance on their safety and legitimacy. I suspect that the Test Prop i thought i was taking, could in fact have had the presence of Stanolozol in it. I can try get you a bottle if you'd like to conduct an analysis at the laboratory.
