  1. Anyone in EL or Queenstown wanting farm butter, I'm selling at R34 a block, limited amounts available, as I'm going to have to stock up for the winter now
  2. Buy your meat from a butcher, not the supermarkets. It's all flashily dressed up, but you are supporting the farmers by buying from a butcher. You'll get specials from the supermarkets, but the butchers are cheaper as a rule. Shortrib stew is my family's favourite, and I love making a stew with it, and it's as cheap as, well not chips, seeing the price of 'taties lately, but cheap.
  3. We did a very muddy Stutt High School MTB yesterday, with a sh$tload of climbing, 2240m climbing in 60km, even the 45km race had 1300m of climbing, what you get having a non-cyclist setting up the course, but it was lekker, some interesting new tracks The first long hill, luckily on gravel to get your legs used to the ups A view of Gubu dam and Rance Timber sawmill (one of the sponsors) and the track
  4. I've not tried it yet. We haven't had thunderstorms since I saw the post. I'll definitely see how it works on my old sheepdog. She hates loud noises. Even hides away when the chickens crow after laying eggs.
  5. SA been good in the field tonight
  6. Bloody chickens, I've got a few, and they are also regularly sworn at, especially if I have to shut them up in the day, and they won't cooperate.
  7. Long time since I've been to this thread, I saw this post on facebook and decided that it should be posted here, sorry if it's a repost,
  8. Owen Hannie, got done for dope in some form or another some time ago, and part of the dumb and dumber cycling show on Super sport
  9. That it is. What did you think of the trail, I thought it was a bit poorly designed, esp the sections in the bush below the farm buildings, no flow!!
  10. Another ride on the singlespeed, early morning, I saw so much game at the Tyityaba GR, Zebra, Nyala, Kudu, Eland, Blesbok, Impala, pigs(pied domestic type ) monkeys.... Another ride over to the Transkei, with some of our farmer riding group, and Dogfish Crossing the Gxara river The gates on the Xolorha river, a deep canyon through an old horseshoe bend and yet another ride with some racing snakes, I usually budget on riding 10kmph in the Transkei, but this ride was closer to 12kmph, with some extensive bhundu bashing, and a beer at the Seagulls hotel I was sweating here Overlooking the bay at Seagulls/Trenneries
  11. That was a great break at Kei Mouth, met a few other cyclists, and a hubber, I can't remember all the rides, and tried to take pics on all of them, but.... A good long ride on the Bigwig Rode with a few guy's that I've met a long time ago, and a chap who approached me on The Deck at Morgs, spotting my Sani2C tee Some subterranean Cycads, my neighbour, who is big into his plants, was very excited about the number that I found Stangeria eriopus Overlooking the Kobonqaba river Maize planted on the Kobonqaba We took a detour along the beach, and ended up having to push a lot of it arriving at the pont, 10 minutes after it closed due to the tide being too low(spring low tides) we sat there for 3 hours waiting for the pont to start operating, and a mama from a shebeen wouldn't go and get some beers for us . The queue of cars just about 1/2hr before it started operating again
  12. A book by Dr Burton, on some historical stories in the Border region, called Sparks From the Border Anvil, that I found about 6 months ago. It's very disjointed, and I put the book down about 3/4 of the way through, but the first story about the Gcaleka Xhosa's cattle killing in the 1850's was very interesting, especially as I was riding past Nongqause's pool , and the site of Mhlakaza's kraal on the Gxara river every other day.
  13. A quick ride into the Transkei The pont on the Kei A view of the Gates The Kobonqaba The view back Seagulls Hotel
  14. At least the pets here are little [emoji2]
  15. For an early morning ride down the valley. The roads have just been graded, and all the loose pebbles and soil destroyed my legs on the return(uphill) trip. One of the joys of living at the top of a mountain ????
  16. The pompom on the top of the hat, ha ha

  20. A very wet Kwelerha to Kei ride, we had fun on the bikes, drank OBs, beer, shooters and more beer to keep warm . One of the best rides I've done despite the rain. and we had to ride through the puddles to clean our drivetrains
  21. It will be sad to see Peaty go. What a cool chap, the old man of DH racing.
  22. Good luck, it's not that difficult to build a wheel, but to get the wheel perfect http://sheldonbrown.com/wheelbuild.html http://www.wheelpro.co.uk/wheelbuilding/book.php some useful resources
  23. Are you going to lace those wheels yourself?
  24. Ouch, we're a cool misty 15deg here today. Bit of a relief
