I was the first year to miss out, which I wasn’t too happy about, but as far as I know there was and still is pretty much no option you just had to make it work for you. My experience comes from working in the trade, being an instructor and a sports shooter. But honestly for the most part and for military purposes most people can do just fine with the standard issue.

Proper fit, particularly length of pull are crucial even just for casual shooters, and often over looked. Buying from someone who knows what they’re talking about is invaluable. Length of pull can usually be adjusted but sometimes things like the comb height are a problem and is much more difficult to resolve.

One of the coolest things I saw, although far from the most financially valuable, was an old WW1 sniper rifle in its original box, with original sling and mag. It had the correct rings and scope on too which made this the only set of its kind I’ve yet seen. Unfortunately although those parts were correct for the rifle and period the numbers did not match so although it had good value (financially) its value would have been hugely higher if they had matched.
  4. I’ve not ridden for 12 days as I’ve been sick [emoji855] Watching my fitness gains disappearing daily [emoji37] Have you tried mixing things up, trying something different?
  5. A bit extreme just for weight loss isn’t it? [emoji12] Glad you’re sounding okay there.
  6. I bought the Assos Equipe RS S9 a couple of months ago and they work okay for longer rides, but for some reason I struggle to feel “square” with them and the saddle. The biggest surprise for me was a pair of Le Col long that I bought only because I had a voucher. I looked at the chamois and thought yeah right, but they’re actually very comfortable.
  7. Yeah I went and bought Ghost of Tsushima today, it’s pretty good so far [emoji1303]
  8. Woohoo! This place s great news, here’s hoping that things go well and that that you get the all clear.
  9. You speedsters are absolutely nutters [emoji1] At 50k/h I’m already thinking it’s too fast [emoji85][emoji1] I’ve become very aware of pain, healing and averse to injury in recent years.
  10. I just finished this last week, it’s a fair way to spend your time. Pre ordered AC Valhalla this week too, but since it’s only out in Nov I’m thinking of getting the ghost of tsushima to fill the gap too

It’s not even half the price of the most expensive blaster I’ve held [emoji6] scary how much money some people have hey.

I believe it was this lot Edit - yes it was, complete with the crocodile leather case.

It’s a couple of years ago now so I have to think hard, but I think it’s a set of Purdys if I recall.

Cool. Good job on filling the gap, definitely go have a chat to Charles at Suburban Guns / Clay Busters he’s a good coach and been doing it for years. I don’t think it’s pricy, about R120 for a line (25 clays, rounds and shotguns included). Until then here’s a pic of my boy holding an over under that was custom made for Eric Clapton that sold (used) for R1.3 million (for the pair) to keep you interested [emoji1]

Shotguns can be the most fun you can have on a range, they were always my favourite, but there are many different types and you should know what you’d like to try. Over / under shotguns are simple to operate but the wooden stocks can be relatively uncomfortable for a noob (even with a pad) and hitting moving clays can be difficult for some. Pumps are a great visceral experience for sure, and semi autos can further help reduce felt recoil as the action uses some of the energy to cycle instead of transferring it through to the shooter. If you’re worried about recoil (you shouldn’t really be) there are also lighter loads that can be used. I’d use Suburban Guns / Clay Busters (at False Bay every weekend) for clays and False Bay Firearms Training Academy for pumps or semis. I’d be weary of Clay Pigeon Adventures. You’ve made me think back on the good times back in ZA, if I was still there I would have gladly offered to take you for a day out.
  16. Oh no, a broken down Land Rover... phew, there’s a Suzuki there to tow it out of trouble [emoji2957]
  17. That’s the thing. My wife runs, and she doesn’t seem to have as many worries about the wind or wet and icy roads so she gets out more than I do. There are more hardcore riders out there than me for sure, but riding in the country roads I’ve had a gust hit me when passing a farm gate (gap in the hedges) and it really takes that front wheel. I’ve also drifted across the road on a bend when I couldn’t brake harder because the road was wet under some trees [emoji51] I have enough to deal with [emoji85] without adding a fall to the mix, so I skip the *** days.
  18. Thankfully the IDT has arrived now so that’s something, but it doesn’t help much with the taking of pics for the Facebook page [emoji85]
  19. Yeah, nice, rub it in why don’t ya. It’s been two rubbish weeks now, wind, rain and no blue - it’s like summer is now long gone.
  20. Yeah the HR monitor is ANT+ only. I think a Bluetooth enabled one may just make it easier?
  21. Right, so first Zwift ride done. Everything connected up just fine except for HR which I presume is a limitation of the band that I got with the edge 520 bundle and I’m guessing so because it connects to the Edge so it is working, does that sound about right? I used the Edge at the same time so now I have duplicate workouts in Connect and Strava as expected, what is the way around this?
  22. It has arrived
  23. Totally sensible. ERG mode may allow one to focus on the workout, but one also needs to focus on the other aspects of riding a bike.
  24. There is an app for the Apple TV already, I’ll be surprised if there isn’t something for Android devices, but I wouldn’t know.
  25. Really sorry to hear. Hopefully it’s localised and can be easy sorted.
