  1. I've ridden my bike to the shops, through a roadblock and they were all lekker. My opinion (which may not have come across in that long post on the previous page): 1 - you're perfectly fine riding to work / shops / pharmacy etc. No issue. Those people claiming otherwise need a check in their logic. 2 - you're perfectly fine riding in your back yard / personal forest / farm. Just don't take unnecessary risks, ride well within yourself. 3 - that's it.
  2. In most cases, especially with beginners, having an XC hardtail is definitely a limiting factor in skills development. They just don't inspire confidence when you ride them (generally speaking) and that doesn't translate to wanting to try things you're not entirely comfortable with. A bike with more relaxed geo, even if it's still a hardtail, would be far more confidence inspiring.
  3. i've just been informed that it's a discussion document, that may have an impact on regulations as they go forwards. So while it's not accurate now, it may be. Again, leaked by industry. For the moment, go by the official doc that was released y'day showing no alcohol sales.
  4. Because they have the skills to be able to make up for the lack of stability, steep angles and lack of grip. OP wants something more trail bike-ey and less XC-ey. Something that inspires confidence instead of something that tries to buck you faster than a wild stallion and requires more skill to tame. .
  5. I find myself conflicted on this one. On the one hand, in the spirit of the law, part of the reason for restriction of exercise was to prevent load on the health system so in spirit, it would also apply to exercise within one's own garden or property, due to the associated risk and so on. So in that case I'd argue that it was illegal on that side (or at the very least irresponsible) On the other hand, if I had massive tracts of farmland or forest or gravel or whatever in my back garden, I sure as hell would back myself according to the LETTER of the law, and exercise in my own damn property, thank you very much. Logically, we can all say what we would do in the same situation. Which one of us hasn't carried on training while cooped up inside, even without a garden? I consider my friends as bloody priveleged to be able to have a garden to exercise in (let alone a bloody farm or forest! Envious I am, indeed) and they should be able to use it as much as they want to. However, in going down that avenue I feel myself starting to think more and more of the spirit of the law, and think to myself "well, I'd exercise, but be responsible about it. Reduce the risk. Ride / run / whatever, but don't be a hero" At least, that's what I think I'd do... I dunno. I suppose a little nuance is needed in this world of black and white.
  6. You're too tall for a large. No doubt about that whatsoever.
  7. Easy Equities is cheap and has a very good UI. FAR cheaper than Standard / FNB / most bank-based systems at a charge of 0.6% p/a iirc.
  8. Correct. The 36 visits in a rolliong 12 month period requirement has been temporarily halted until lockdown ends / relaxes to the point that we can continue going to gym
  9. not 4 months, but these are the recent ones. And 5 incidents requiring hospital time 1 - snapped ligaments in hand, surgery to the thumb joint to reattach ligaments 2 - slow speed crash on jeep track, resulting in 15cm (approx) laceration requiring quite a few stitches 3 - riding with latent bronchitis (no symptoms at all) which resulted in a trip to the ER to be placed on oxygen and have x rays 4 - OTB on a jump resulting in triple fracture on pelvis & sacrum 5 - cracked ribs Forgot about this one 6 - OTB onto head, laceration to the scalp as well as low grade concussion resulting in an afternoon in the ER.
  10. There isn't one. The wahoo (and other options) are cheaper and better, IMO. Well, better meaning better support, more well known company, locally available etc.
  11. Virgin Active Many of you would have received the email from Virgin Active to go online and do a virtual class for more than 30 minutes to get 100 points. In case you didn’t get it and you are a Virgin Active club member I have included the information here. “Check out the Virgin Active app or visit virginactive.coach and log in with your MyVirginActive credentials to start earning Vitality points for getting active. We have worked in partnership with the Vitality team, to ensure that we continue to reward you for keeping active during these uncertain and challenging times. For every workout, or combination of workouts, over 30 minutes you can earn 100 Vitality points per day, for this lockdown period. Each day you will have a new opportunity to earn points just by doing another 30+ minute workout. Simple.”
  12. Jackie!!! I love the little terrors. Yours looks like she / he could be a rather naughty little monkey, with that face...
  13. Yeah man, I recall almost stepping in it when I asked about your little terror.... in front of your other bigger little terror....
  14. Or, they were leveraging off someone else's R&D and didn't have to include that in their costings. Plus, as Han says, it's more $$ than the Kickr Core.
  15. WHAT!? No.... can't be 5 years already, man... Jeepers.
  16. TBH I'd rather have 20 - 50 people I can call "friend" than 500 associates I barely know. The experiences, though, FOR SURE.
