  1. then I'm definitely looking forward to seeing those magic marys!
  2. Especially given the expression on my face when trying to go uphill...
  3. Yeah I remember you telling me. But the point is that it will never grip as well as the trail star. Except in gard pack conditions Was probably down to air pressure though
  4. May also be down to the pressure you're running them at.... But the Pacestar shoudl be at the back. Not the front...
  5. Ding Ding. That's the diffference right there. The Pacestar is their hardest compound and will not hook up as well as teh Trailstar or Vertstar compounds. It's like asking a conti eco contact to have the same grip in any conditions as an Eagle f1.
  6. 2.4. Continental still aren't the widest tyres, and the NN isn't the narrowest tyre out there.
  7. Not a lot of local stuff, TBH. Try some of the moto stores for their stock - they normally carry a LOT of options that the cycling shops ordinarily wouldn't. Unfortunately if you can't find anything there, it's off to CRC which has an amaaaaazing selection. You'll get taxed to death on it when importing, just remember to add an extra 60% to include VAT & import duities...
  8. Update - Sending the wheel to Scott as soon as I can get to a post office....
  9. Have to say, Jerome - the black with those red pinstripes looks fantastic!
  10. wouldn't need to upgrade the wheels on the 1000. It's a better package entirely.
  11. At a landed price of R 630 including shipping, I'd rather spend an extra R 200 and have a PROPER light set. Yes, postage on top of that but still. Max extra is R 300 and it's a FAR better light
  12. This... http://extremelights.co.za/shop/extreme-1200-mkii-cree-bicycle-light/
  13. Nope. Manitou fork is a good one - sub 1.6kg for that fork of theirs, with their updated damper system. The newer SLX bits on the 1000 lite are actually on par with the XT bits ont eh XT edition, and the brakes on the 1000 are far better than the ones on the XT edition, - old vs new Deore. I'd go with the Lite. Not only is it the newer frame, but it has the 12mm rear axle vs a regular QR rear, as well as the better rims... And as others have said - the only reason the Fox is "better" is because of the name. The Manitou is a perfectly good fork, and has more adjustability than the Fox out the box anyway. 1000 Lite is my suggestion
  14. Agreed with MH here. Get a good set of fully enclosed cables for the bike as well as some brakes. The difference in shifting performance is huge!
  15. Cardiac arrest. Or a full knee replacement. Either way
  16. Ja bro, but you took offence on behalf of all hubbers. Also not cool - despite the bike not being a loan / conditional sale in any way. Just offer some constructive comment without getting personal and taking offence. Still - If Andrew's spinning bike doesn't fit the bill, I have a wheel with a slick attached to it if someone wants to offer postage. It's a spare that doesn't fit my bike (needs a 12mm rear axle and the hub is a 10mm QR
  17. Gorilla tape is what duct tape wishes it was. One step down from Helicopter tape. Apparently you get it from Builders whorehouse...
  18. Yeah. I exited VA about 5 months ago. Set up a pullup bar at home and some straps to do bodyweight exercises with. Also trying to increase my cycling... haven't missed it yet.
  19. THey'll try to tell you it's a Vitality Charge, or a Discovery charge, or a whatever charge. It's not. But that also means it's not negotiable, by them holding someone else accountable for the charge.
