  1. Thought it was the other way around? Cool. Thanks for telling me otherwise!!
  2. Crossmark certainly better than the monorail. What do you ride, mostly?
  3. why would that be a snore-fest? Surely any sort of progression (regardless of the team involved) would be a positive? Would force the other guys to adapt. Oh. Wait. That's why this was brought in in the first place. To stop RB domination. Cos the others couldn't adapt. What's next, banning Newey? Placing an IQ quota limit? Please. Any domination should motivate the 2nd / 3rd / 4th/ 19th placed team even more. And if you look at it - it's still the same teams dominating the top 10. No difference there... Wasn't this supposed to "level" the playing field?
  4. Chin up dude. Rest assured that you're not the only one to fall to a scam like this... Doesn't make it any easier, I know... But still. Do you at least ahve insurance on it?
  5. EFT is still cool. As long as you still do the normal checks. IE: Confirm your bank balance, see if it registers as available, and then phone the bank to check if it was a cash deposit / EFT / whatever. Either that, or watch the oke do the transfer in front of you. Actually logging into the bank, putting in all the info and then hitting the send button after receiving the OTP. Then check your account to confirm...
  6. SUUUUUCKS! Hate to say it Nik-Nak, but you're the victim of a well known method of scamming. Moral of the story - NEVER trust an SMS to your phone when confirming transfer of funds. Always log on to banking yourself, and check the validity of the payment. Even phone up the bank if you want and ask them if there's any pending transfers. There are multiple online bulk SMS providers that have a long looking number from which the SMS originates. All they have to do is register as a user and get someone to do the SMS for them. Will keep a lookout for sure, but as with everything nowadays (and before, the methods have just changed) be careful. I remember when my parents bought a stolen car at one of those 2nd hand car meets, at the old PnP hyper in Durban. When they went to transfer it to their name it came up as stolen. They called the guy and said they had cancelled the bank guaranteed cheque (yes, it was that long ago) and told him to come and collect the car. Called the cops and told them to wait around the corner for him to drive off in it... WHAM. Point being, it's always been there, the theft and fraud. It's just the method that's changed...
  7. Dude. If you're riding in Lesotho, you're only a valley away from a herd of angry goats. At all times... Shakes are mandatory!
  8. That *looks* like a nukeproof... In fact I'm sure it is. You can see the emblem on the headtube.. Nukeproof Mega AM.
  9. Indeed... Just threading the needle that tests your patience!!!
  10. Easy. Don't take old tires!!! They're not only weaker, but you'll have less grip! Basically go for their Protection / UST equivalent versions, and don't worry about the weight factor. Snakeskin / UST / Protection / whatever. Just get something with strong sidewalls. And take tubes, even if you're running tubeless. Sometimes you may have a torn sidewall, which you can only fix by having a tube on hand (sealant won't fix) also have some heavier guage rubber that you can sew into the sidewall if it's a big gash. Take needle and thread (strong thread) - if the gash is big enough you sew it closed, put the piece of rubber on the inside of the tyre as a patch and reinflate with sealant. It WILL work. So - list. Needle and thread (must be a strong needle, but not too thick, and strong thread) Spare tubes (for when the sewing and patches just won't cut it, do all of them) old rubber (cut up an old tube, for example) Contact adhesive / glue (for the patches on a larger scale) Stans NEW TIRES!!!
  11. 1 second between the top 6. Ferrari's times not surprising, but it seems as if most of the teams are getting things under control. I reckon we'd have seen a VERY different picture if the testing hadn't been limited...
  12. Final FP2 times... Looking FAR better, with all teh cars going on to soft tires for the last few laps.
  13. That's fine, though. As long as you don't upload the details, which then gives you and others downloadable GPX files showing you where to ride. Often over private land.
  14. Yeah Indeed. Something along the lines of a non downloadable or trackable route profile but trackable elements like power etc. Still. Even amongst Epic riders, there are your fair share of douchebags who, given the option, WILL ride those segments regardless of the status of the trail (private or not) It all comes down to a sense of entitlement... Unfortunately
  15. Exactly. And you're not allowed to ride the Trails normally either. Therfore do not track or upload. Yes, I know you want to track average power and and and. Just don't upload it. All that matters should be your ride. Not that you put out 250w on day 3 but only 249.75 on day 4
  16. Afaik yes. But then it means that you have it saved as a route. Which isn't on. AFAIK they want to rule out the chance of ANYONE riding those trails in their off time, for obvious reasons. Private sessions still allow you to do that. So maybe it's best to say you can track it, but don't upload at all.
  17. If you upload, people will assume it's a legitimate trail. When it's not. And it will be ridden. Ask Cassie what happened to some of the Wannabees trails down here in the cape thanks to an Strava segment created on an epic stage...
  18. Essentially means thou art not upload to Strava / endomondo / garmin etc. Yiu can use it to track speed and time from day to day, but delete it straight afterwards. If the organisers find any epic trails uploaded to the web, they track the perp down and fine them. They also remove the ride from Strava (flag it and get them to remove it) so that nobody else can access it.
  19. Live gps tracking for tracking the rider positions stage to stage, yes. But that is on the media side of things, controlled y Epic themselves. They're forbidding GPS tracking devices like garmin etc and from uploading them to the sites so that private land stays just that - private.
  20. I reckon Raikki will give him a very rude awakening though.
