  1. Tokai Neighbourhood watch have access to these camera's. As far as I know it is an independent setup that links to the LPR network.
  2. Equal prize money should be the norm, end of story. Just look how stacked the ladies field was this weekend. My question is, has the prize money allocation between the Men and Women changed from last year, when the men would race the Ultra-marathon distance and the Ladies would compete in the Marathon distance? maybe advendurance thought they could get away with not rejigging the prize purses even though the formats have changed.
  3. I have tried both the absolute black 32t oval and the csixx 32t oval. I much prefer the absolute black's ovality and how it feels on the legs, did not enjoy the csixx as much and sold it relatively soon after I bought it. It does come down to personal preference at the end of the day, both are good products and priced very closely.
  4. Was this guy riding a spez with a busted rear wheel ? saw someone matching that description walking down from level 5, spotted him having a chat with the rangers at the gate by the manor house later on.
  5. Wide Lightnings are a great, quality product. Some people say they ding easy, I took my set with a flat rear tyre down Groenlandberg without suffering any major dings. They are just pure class. The wide profile is also a game changer with regards to handling.
  6. If anyone is looking for an alternative to tented accommodation, this place just opened in Grabouw, the prices look reasonable too: http://www.trailsend.bike
  7. The 70km was a great route. Definitely the best PPA mtb race I have done to date. Riders were seeded properly and it was a good challenge. Thanks to the helpful guys that donated plugs to me on the Groenlandberg descent. I still have one persons mini toolkit, if you are reading this PM me and i'll return it to you.
  8. They normally do beep. I'm not sure if it is always the case, but one would assume they would have the beep to indicate to the staff and riders that everything is working as it should. On another note the route marking on the 40km was terrible this year, some incorrect markings took many riders completely off course. The organisers will need to step up next year to keep this event going.
  9. I had the same issue, didn't hear my tag beep when I crossed the line. If you rode with a Garmin or similar send them your gps file and they will update the results. If not there was a racetec person taking photos at the finish, think they will use the timestamp to get the times, best to contact them.
  10. So when the roadworks are no longer a factor, the price will come back down to earth again ? I think not.
  11. I understand the commercial aspect, I just don't understand why the small 3-5m tree's also had to go, surely they weren't at a viable age - every standing tree has been chopped. Some just left there, that is the worst part.
  12. MTO could have improved the route experience of w2w by not felling every single tree (big and small) in the Grabouw plantation and destroying the trails in the process.
  13. I also noticed that my XO1 cassette wobbles slightly (side to side) when spinning it on my hope pro evo2 hubs. I don't have any shifting issues though and would say its normal.
  14. Crazy entry fee's, I vote with my wallet on this one.
  15. Unfortunately not, but if I see them again will take a friendly photo.
  16. That was definitely you then. Only 2 of the guys in the road were the wannabe "Trail Police" the others were myself and my mates trying to get on with our rides after being questioned by these guys (I'm a member with a board).
  17. Hey Maxanon Around what time did this happen? Think I saw you, the same guys had harassed my friends who had paid their honesty fee. I don't know these guys personally but their intentions seem to be good, the way that they go about it is far too aggressive and condescending to fellow riders though. It is also not the first time I have seen them try police every rider going past. I would not let these guys ruin your experience, and would highly suggest you buy a permit for TBMTB its well worth it.
  18. Reports say that Ariane had a bent brake rotor after a crash, hence the sudden change in pace.
  19. http://www.vavavox.com/company/profile/nissan-trailseeker-western-cape-series-4-meerendal?leid=b07f490c64&euid=db5f365b70 Here is the survey they sent out from the last Western Cape Trailseeker at Meerendal, If you read the reviews you will see it had its fair share of hick-ups especially for such an experienced Organiser. Quite glad I chose not enter this event.
  20. I use this exact rotor on my rear wheel with both XT and XTR Brake setup and Qaxar pads. No issues to date with fading, and I've been down that same descent that you fell on Brandon. I'm not too hard on brakes though. But your issue does sound like brake fade from overheating. Guess the only way to find out if it is the rotor is to switch pads and try heat them up down a safer descent. Heal up quick
  21. The theory is that PPA members get seeded when doing PPA events, of which the results get used when calculating the Argus and other PPA race seeding. New for this year is non-PPA riders, riding with their racetec chips will get results for the PPA races they enter, but not seeded, as that is the incentive to join PPA. This applies to Chappies Hillclimb too, non-PPA members will get a result if they ride with their racetec chip, but it wont improve your seeding. For PPA members it could improve your seeding if you do a good time, but as Capricorn has said above not for the Argus 2016 as they have already done the seeding run.
  22. I can't find the one you are referring to on sale ? maybe a link please.
  23. This chain breaker please guys: http://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/icetoolz-chain-tool-61a4
