Ray Mac should start cycling and work off his weight! I dunno how long we were stoppped waiting for those cars to cross over? Eldron, there was that white bakkie with the trailer for bikes, the white VITO, the black Dodge and a couple others that were sitting in the lane right behind the cyclists they were following. I must admit, I did think that you were gesturing for the DODGE to come through and pace! Very funny!

Hey Eldron...was a pleasure meeting/suffering with you! That was a pretty cool ride, I must admit. The one thing that bugged me...how many people in groups like M, N, Q and the like have following cars? I lost count of cars sitting following right behind their loved ones and getting in the way of all the cyclists. Its ridiculous and should not be allowed(I'm sure its not) But otherwise it was a good fun day! nicely organised, well marked and a good event. Although I am sure RHEMA south's congregation were being taught a lesson in patience!! Ha ha!!

Jules...that little lady who was helping you was rather pretty, but had a bit of an attitude! Oh well, I did promise myself not to lose my temper...and maybe I need to come down a peg or 2...so I'll start in R. My problem is that just because I did not ride it last year...despite having done a 2h32 with a puncture in 2007...I now start in R! I just feel that they should be more accomodating...I have licensed to race as a Vet, 30-34.(which they could see) So I should be entitled to race in the cat that I am licensed in. But, obviously not?! Was it just me, or did it feel like the stock in Cyclelab was a bit minimal? Its all the same uninteresting stuff?

Wierd hey?! I'm exactly the same height as LA, my saddle height (BB to top of saddle) is just 5mm lower...and I ride a 54ctt Pinarello, 12cm stem and only 1.5cm of spacers beneath my stem. LA's reasoning must work...I mean he's kicked @ss all over the world. But, in hindsight...someone should have told Sean Kelly his set up was WAY wrong!!!!

S2L...I'm having a laugh at Dash's expense here...but it went kinda like this... Saturday morning he arrives at my place, I'm scoffing down my pre ride meal...I ask him if he has eaten and he replies "No...Should I have?"...see the problem?! Dash...I'll bet that Bar One was the best tasting Bar One you have ever eaten? Even though it was from the roughest cafe this side of Lagos?!

Nah...I dont see a problem. Some guys ride Mavic wheels with Campy...so who cares if you ride Shamals on a Shimano grouppo? However, if you do it while wearing a TuTu...then you have problems!

Lets face it, they all dope. Full stop, end of competition. I am not the biggest LA fan, but if everyone in the Tour was clean...he would still of won it because he was that much better than everyone else. Eddy Merckx, was a more complete cyclist and at the time was like LA in that he was that much better than everyone else. I doubt he was clean, the drugs may not have been on parr with today's drugs...but they were still using. It is very sad, but to think they are as pure as the driven snow is very unrealistic. I dont watch the sport because I wanna see a group of guys dawdle along at 40kph...I wanna see average speeds of 50+ on the flats and 40 in the mountains. As for Jan...the dude is a legend. Lazy (for Euro standards) as hell...but the guy is class. We had him as a house guest back in the early '90's and in addition to his incredible cycling talent he was an absolute gentleman. In summary... They all dope... Campy is better than Shimano... Jan is Uber cool... SRAM will win the '09 Tour... (either with LA or The Condor) Bianchi rocks... And bouncers suck...

Thanks guys...makes a lot more sense now. Had visions of these ginormous wheels!! Ok...so whats the bike of choice? Hard or soft tail? Is the Hard tail a more 'hard core' approach? The chance to test ride a bike at such an arranged venue is a fantastic idea.
