  1. On the topic of the SANParks Rangers responsibilities, they are laid out here (job spec below). Crime prevention and crime response IS their responsibility and is separate from compliance regulation (i.e. making sure riders stick to permitted trails). They are currently looking to hire 38 more rangers for TMNP..... At R190 a day???? Wish it wasn't the case but, but the reality is that I don't think we can expect anyone earning that salary to be effective at executing any job... never mind strategic crime prevention and response! ????SANPARKS???? 2. Man that sucks! Troy is such a legend and was quite an inspiration for me growing up watching him battle Colin Edwards in WSBK. Wishing him a speedy recovery.
  3. pretty sure it's open, TMB did their Blockhouse coffee ride this morning
  4. Voids your warranty, but this video shows you how to solve the problem of it beeping when stolen. Although from the other video posted, that might not even be an issue (might only beep when the thief gets home/to the chop shop).
  5. My understanding is that it doesn't have to be an iphone?
  6. I get what you're saying re: bike shop, but the part was sent to the supplier (ie their labour)
  7. Ya, I think we're on exactly the same page here! Labour comes at a cost so it's understandable, but it could also be seen as goodwill to maintain good brand reputation/after sales support. In this case the part in question is the internal of a dropper seatpost.
  8. Can't make up my mind on this.... interested to hear your opinion
  9. Epic EVO worked great for me.... the 36 oval chainring could lose a tooth or two though! Previously had a Camber and that was also great. Basically..... I think if it has two wheels, those trails are good fun
  10. Yes. Was a known issue on the Discovery website but now says resolved, but still not up to date for me.
  11. Where can you check this? Haven't received anything this year (last year I did), but not holding my breath as I will likely be in the extreme claimer category due to a collapsed lung last year
  12. Anyone got a fix for this little issue or experienced the same thing? Apple watch sync'd to Active rewards and shows 100 points for a 30+ min workout (speed data only) However, using the HR data from that particular session should get 300 points for a 30+ min workout at 80% of max HR. When I opened the Activity app on my phone the HR data wasn't there initially, but then populated seconds later. It's almost as if it sync'd to Vitality before the HR data had finished transferring from the watch to the phone app. So is there a way to get it to refresh that activity in vitality so that it corrects the points allocation on that day? Going to end up short for the week because of this issue
  13. Table Mountain Bikers The area we are going to be walking through has been a known crime hot spot for 2-3 years. Many people use the track to get to the cable station and criminals know this. What we want to find out is are there people living in the area and if they are, we will alert the rangers to this. Spending the night on the mountain, outside of designated camping sites, is illegal. What is also worth noting is that fires have started in areas where there are a number of people sleeping in a general area on the mountain. In the Deer Park area, up to 50 individuals have been counted, living there at one time. A number of fires have started in Deer Park. We want to go on regular walks on the mountain and show that we are aware of the criminal element that uses the mountain to hide and perpetrate crime. We did the same 8 years ago when TMB started. We refused to hand over the recreational spaces on the mountain to the criminals and got together a cyclists and kept on riding in groups. It's our response to crime - not to give in, but to keep riding.
  14. My understanding is that this isn't a ride, its a walk through the area combing the bushes for hideouts.
  15. Wonder if Canyon have considered using Borderfree Global Shopping. They are used by an online shop that I purchased some motorcycle parts from in the US and they guarantee your duties at checkout, so no surprises when stuff goes through customs. 4 working days from order to delivery, I was pretty impressed.
  16. Anyone know if you can use more than one Active rewards R100 Dis-chem voucher in a single transaction?
  17. Not online, but some good deals (up to 50% off) on watches/HRM/GPS at selected Sportsmans Warehouse. If you on Vitality you'll get even more off with Healthy Gear .... http://res.cloudinary.com/moresport/image/upload/v1535709116/swh/general/Sports_Tech_Clearance_Sale_Sportsmans_Warehouse.pdf
  18. I think the 75% refers to the amount after the 25% healthy gear cash back is deducted i.e. 25% back from Health gear + 75% back from device booster = 100% Seem to remember reading about a limit of R5000 but could have been R4000
  19. Would it be safe to assume that the Apple watch does not fall under the device booster benefit given that I have both the shoe booster and the Apple watch benefit running together at the moment? Plan on canning the shoe booster for a boosted device
  20. Device booster will be launched "towards the end of March" according to an email I just received. It also provides the answer to my question above: "If you'd like to activate a new booster benefit as soon as we launch these towards the end of March, and have already activated Shoe Booster, you will be able to cancel your existing Shoe Booster benefit in the Discovery app and forfeit the remaining cash backs as only one booster benefit is available during a 12-month period." https://www.discovery.co.za/vitality/fitness-booster
  21. Sportsman's aren't the rip-off artists, they sell at manufacturer RRP..... sooooooo the brands are the real rip-off artists
