  1. I rode the spruit yesterday (normally ride van Gaalens, Kingskloof or N Farm) and I have NEVER seen so many riders out there, so guess there were a lot of dusted off and rusty bikes (and riders?) going for their first ride in a while... So with a traffic jam equaling normal rush hour I guess a few characters reverted to weekday mode :-)
  2. or you could try this... http://bikebay.co.za/product_info.php?products_id=3642&cPath=37
  3. And if you're trying to find something decent on DSTV, dust will be the most interesting...
  4. Thought we'd pop down to the waterhole for a tipple...
  5. "They" say.. if it's too good to be true.. then usually it is... buyer beware!
  6. Check out this link below, the 15mm Thru Axle on MT55 is a UK Pounds 10 additional option http://www.bikeradar.com/news/article/2012-shimano-deore-xt-and-mt55-mountain-bike-wheels-just-in-31279/
  7. Sorry, not much help to you! I'm pretty sure you will need a new hub, in other words you can't increase Shimano hub's axle size... unlike some other makes
  8. 15mm to 9/5mm with this...
  9. Unless you want to do it yourself. It's pretty simple once you get yourself a few bits and pieces, and doesn't take long for a quick top up. Check out: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/127707-diy-bike-tools/page__st__96
  10. Hopefully your bike and not YOU
  11. It could be that the local agents/distributors days are numbered, or at least have to clean up their acts... in the past there was no opportunity to buy online from overseas, so they had us all over a barrell, and their resellers. We and the resellers had to put up and cough up, and contribute to their exhorbitant profits (They know who they are!). So I welcome the new scenario, and this goes for many other products as well; cameras, HI-FI, appliances etc, etc, etc. But I agree with droo, their are a few straight shooters. Pity we can't buy cars online!
  12. Make that eBay USA supplier
  13. I just bought some Mavic hub spares off an eBay supplier, he has loads of positive ratings (this is the thing to look for), and I was most impressed. Paid PAYPAL. Only thing... the local post office sat on my parcel for 2 weeks! So total delivery time was 4 weeks. Thing is the tracking number you get from US is changed once it hits SA so you can't actually keep tabs on it. You have to rely on our local "darlings" to inform you when it hits the PO. You can courier but that gets costly...
  14. Indeed!
  15. Yeah and they do'nt let you take your bike in the normal gondola in case you scratch it.. (the gondola that is!)
  16. I finally got hold of somone regarding downhill biking at the Harties cableway. There's nothing in place yet. The problem is a land owner whose land you would have to cross to ride down. The cableway itself is keen, although you have to use the service gondola to get bikes up so it's not arrive and drive! There is a downhill club working with the cableway and negotiating with the very un-keen landowner, to put on a downhill event later this year. They are hoping to prove to the landowner that mountain bikers are not the Rhino Rally! (which is apparently what he thinks!) So afraid nothing doing right now. PM me anyone for the Downhill Club's details if interested
  17. It looks like there could be an awsome downhill ride, from what I remember, so it could become big for them if it catches on with bikers. I'll check it out. It'll make a change from Van Gaalens!
  18. Do you just pitch and ride or do you have to make special arrangements to take the bike up. Does the bike just go inside the normal gondala?
  19. Great pics! Do you have any details regarding timing, cost etc for taking bikes up the cableway? I have seen some pics of the ride down and it looks worth a try.
  20. I also give Matthew from Easybike/Easygis the thumbs up. When the post office was on strike (when are't they? and does it make any difference whether they are, or not!) he couriered my parcel at his expense, parts I had ordered for delivery by post. Arrived the next day
  21. go here for brake bleeding https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/127707-diy-bike-tools/page__st__96 and other stuff
  22. How about this?
