  1. Just be patient. As mentioned above it takes longer to meander from the local PO Hub than from Hong Kong, LA, UK etc to SA. My Hubdoctor parts from LA took about a month, of which two weeks was in the local post office! And recently an item from Hong Kong was 2 weeks.
  2. I have also bought one of these conversions, and got great service from the Hubdoctor.. really professional. The parcel comes beautifully packed with really good instructions. It's a well made piece of kit. However, I haven't installed it yet as my stopgap, homemade, replacement nylon bush (oversized) has lasted for 4 months so far! But eventually I know it will need replacing with my Hubdoctor conversion..
  3. Great work, I rode it yesterday! Just gotta hold your breath and keep yours eyes open for "lurkers".
  4. Do it yourself, there're plenty of tutorials on the net, but the kit and oil will cost about R400
  5. Actually the best way to lose serious weight on most bikes in one easy hit is with the wheels, but budget for R5k - R10k normal retail to lose a kilo and a bit... on the Hub classifieds you'll do much better. Re advertising the the weight, you need to specify who "They" is/are. The manufacturers won't because too much can happen between the factory and retail shop floor in terms of specs on parts, added accessories etc. The bike shops won't because it's too much work.. and might prejudice a sale if one "fancied" bike weighed more than a competitor's. It just brings in another complicating factor that most 1st timers won't even have thought of. And weigh less costs more!
  6. Nothing wrong with flats.. depending on what type of riding you do, but don't feel pressured. A lot of guys riding Van Gaalen's, technical type riding are on flats these days. Check this out: http://www.bikejames.com/strength/the-flat-pedal-revolution-manifesto-how-to-improve-your-riding-with-flat-pedals/ I suggest you access some of the great info available on the net, tutorials etc and do your own maintenance. At least you know the front brake won't go to the stops when you reach the bottom of a hill!
  7. Great idea, well done!
  8. Great riding country
  9. Yay, thank you fairies!
  10. What if you're already a skinny at minimum weight? Gotta spend the dough on bottle cage!
  11. That's what I always say! But how is that often there're more ups than downs?
  12. Yeah right, good point!
  13. And this is another reason why we have to make sure the eTolls don't go ahead.. these gluttons are running out of sources of dough in the present economy.. if they get the eTolls up and running, they can change the rates daily, they can even charge different rates at different times of the day, or maybe (perhaps I'm running away with myself..) different rates for different user groups... not too far fetched with computer tech.. in any event.. they will put the rates up at will once they get it implemented.. DO NOT REGISTER
  14. The face of wisdom and learning!
  15. "In his medium-term budget policy statement (MTBPS) on Wednesday, Gordhan announced that government intended to slash perks for all officials, from ministers to mayors, to save more than R2bn. The new rules would apply from December 1 to all spheres of government, he said." They are getting 2bn in perks? We have no hope... the goose (that lays the golden eggs) is nearly cooked :-(
  16. Great read.. checked out the online version, interesting, well put together and I like the fresh, independant views on our sport

MotoGP, Superbikes, Supersports and Superstock viewing ratings must have been massively up yesterday because of Gauteng pouring rain... and a great day's racing it was
  18. And incidently, when I look to upgrade the Anthem, I will look very closely at the 27.5
  19. I have 2009 26" Anthem and Trance X1's (Full XT) both with Mavic SLR rims so they're lightish. I use the Anthem for N Farm, Spruit etc and the Trance for Van Gaalens etc. I have played around with shock and fork settings and now have the ideal plush ride, which my old body likes! (Even on the Anthem) I seldom worry about locking out because I find it hardly makes any difference to the climbing power (Maestro is good). And anyway, I usually forget to unlock the shock on the next gnarly downhill so halfway down wonder why my bike feels like a hardtail! I agree that you need to do your own thing with air pressures. Start with the Fox recomendations and go from there. I have those settings somewhere if anybody needs them
  20. Awsome project, well done! How does it ride? And I do like the green tyres..
  21. Hanging from the front wheel is cool... it keeps the felt washers lubed... My half cents worth.. and wife long gone!
  22. I'm afraid I NEVER eat at Mac and I have one 532 meters away! (According to Sports Tracker)
  23. The lowdown on ESI grips fitment/removal from CWC Info.txt
  24. XT
  25. I rode the spruit yesterday (normally ride van Gaalens, Kingskloof or N Farm) and I have NEVER seen so many riders out there, so guess there were a lot of dusted off and rusty bikes (and riders?) going for their first ride in a while... So with a traffic jam equaling normal rush hour I guess a few characters reverted to weekday mode :-)
