  1. Brilliant! What will they think of next! Connect an airbrush to a car tyre.. Ha Ha, and I guess it can work!
  2. Yeah, I know.. and agree with all that stuff, I'm a 30 years plus supporter, but fell asleep early into last nite's race :-( Awoke to see Vettel's interview, and immediately went back to ZZZZZs I'm afraid Newey's the key, and together with Vettel's obvious immense talent, you have the recipe for boredom... superb driving skills notwithstanding...
  3. I'm nearly ready to "retire" from F1 GP!
  4. BTW. Thanks to the person who has done a running repair to that Delta Park bridge, by placing a wooden pallet next to where the original one was.
  5. Yeah, this one is much worse than the Delta Park one.. North side of Jan Smuts, but you can see it from a bit further back, on the run down the bank, but this one has been like this for weeks, and yes the danger sign has "walked" :-( I suspect the sign "remover" is not the same person as the rock "layer". The rocks do somehow warn you in time... joys of our sport. I noticed yesterday that the "informal residents" are becoming a lot more formal. There are now a lot of tents sprouting up, especially next to the Field and Study area in Parkmore. This is surely not a good thing? Next will be shanty houses...
  6. Small cleaning tip. .. When you've completed you "normal" wash. Take one of those blue lightweight kitchen wash up rags, that have little holes. Spray a little Clean Green or similar onto it, and then "floss" the bit at the top of the dust seals, and the dust seals themselves. You will nearly always see a bit of oily dust residue lurking thereabouts, even after a wash. Keeping this area free of dirt is a good way to make your fork, seals stanchions last longer.
  7. Different colour! Rust is red oxide, ali oxide is whitish! Just cover it up.
  8. Riding the Spruit yesterday eve I nearly went headlong into a ditch/stream because the bridge has been washed away. The spot is in Delta Park on the downhill after riding around the school playground and starting the windy descent (North side). On Strava it's called "Down through Delta switchbacks to first bridge" You can't see it until you are right on it and I only just managed to stop...BEWARE!
  9. London taxis are not much better than our local ones... they just speak different!... many years ago, I rode a small Honda bike for about 9 months in London. The taxis crawl, blocking you when they're looking for passengers, but when they're loaded, they just run down anything in their path! They also do U turns without warning! So I was riding along minding my own bizz in central London and this taxi comes up alongside and tries to squeeze me into the pavement! No ways! So I balled up my fist and smacked the side of his vehicle as hard as I could, in the centre of one of the side panels! I so enjoyed that! I surprised myself! 'Cos there was an unexpectantly loud bang! He got such a fright, that he backed right off, and I disappeared into the distance. Gave him back some of his own medicine. But that was years ago. The traffic there today is just mindboggling, huge numbers, and cyclists are cannonfodder.. As can be seen from this post, of yesterday: 11 cyclists killed in London so far this year... https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/133241-bystanders-lift-car-off-a-cyclists-head/
  10. Words fail.... madder and madder!
  11. Northern Farm was a treat! No lemmings to deal with...
  12. Last Thursday there was no smell when I went through. Maybe it's random pedestrians just pop in for a poop! Also remember that there are squatters further up the spruit towards Emmerentia Dam and water also comes in from the Roosevelt Park golf club stream, where there are also squatters. It's a difficult one to fix...
  13. Just be patient. As mentioned above it takes longer to meander from the local PO Hub than from Hong Kong, LA, UK etc to SA. My Hubdoctor parts from LA took about a month, of which two weeks was in the local post office! And recently an item from Hong Kong was 2 weeks.
  14. I have also bought one of these conversions, and got great service from the Hubdoctor.. really professional. The parcel comes beautifully packed with really good instructions. It's a well made piece of kit. However, I haven't installed it yet as my stopgap, homemade, replacement nylon bush (oversized) has lasted for 4 months so far! But eventually I know it will need replacing with my Hubdoctor conversion..
  15. Great work, I rode it yesterday! Just gotta hold your breath and keep yours eyes open for "lurkers".
  16. Do it yourself, there're plenty of tutorials on the net, but the kit and oil will cost about R400
  17. Actually the best way to lose serious weight on most bikes in one easy hit is with the wheels, but budget for R5k - R10k normal retail to lose a kilo and a bit... on the Hub classifieds you'll do much better. Re advertising the the weight, you need to specify who "They" is/are. The manufacturers won't because too much can happen between the factory and retail shop floor in terms of specs on parts, added accessories etc. The bike shops won't because it's too much work.. and might prejudice a sale if one "fancied" bike weighed more than a competitor's. It just brings in another complicating factor that most 1st timers won't even have thought of. And weigh less costs more!
  18. Nothing wrong with flats.. depending on what type of riding you do, but don't feel pressured. A lot of guys riding Van Gaalen's, technical type riding are on flats these days. Check this out: http://www.bikejames.com/strength/the-flat-pedal-revolution-manifesto-how-to-improve-your-riding-with-flat-pedals/ I suggest you access some of the great info available on the net, tutorials etc and do your own maintenance. At least you know the front brake won't go to the stops when you reach the bottom of a hill!
  19. Great idea, well done!
  20. Great riding country
  21. Yay, thank you fairies!
  22. What if you're already a skinny at minimum weight? Gotta spend the dough on bottle cage!
  23. That's what I always say! But how is that often there're more ups than downs?
  24. Yeah right, good point!
  25. And this is another reason why we have to make sure the eTolls don't go ahead.. these gluttons are running out of sources of dough in the present economy.. if they get the eTolls up and running, they can change the rates daily, they can even charge different rates at different times of the day, or maybe (perhaps I'm running away with myself..) different rates for different user groups... not too far fetched with computer tech.. in any event.. they will put the rates up at will once they get it implemented..
