  1. One other thing that I've experienced is the the outer circumference of the rotor touches the inside of the caliper, so you just have to put some marker ink on the rotor or the inside of the caliper to check if it is. Then just file off a bit of the caliper until it stops touching.
  2. You didn't say if it's intermittent or constant. If the former, then more than likely it's an out of true rotor, which as the others said you can true up with an adjustable wrench or by hand. It's just fiddely trial and error work. A tip I used once with an Avid rotor which was bent all ways... take out the pads >> then re-position the caliper so it's off to one side >> just, or nearly touching one side of the rotor and tighten >> spin the wheel and now you can see where it touches >> mark the spot >> note which way it's out of true >> remove to bend it a bit >> then repeat until it's straight. This way the caliper body gives you a fixed point from which to work. If it touches constantly, then my guess is that the pads aren't releasing properly. Not sure what to suggest, but check that your pads are straight and the spacer spring is free and able to push the pads outwards. That no dirt or corrosion is preventing the pads from free movement
  3. I also used to cycle to school, and the bike sheds were full (covered sheds!), but the only way it could work today is with dedicated cycle paths and that will only happen in heaven! If "they're" mowing down cyclists in London, imagine the carnage here...
  4. Believe me, he's right! I went through the same thing (used to have 600-635), and now I'll never go near as narrow as 600mm, these days 660 - 680 is where i'm comfortable, and lots of people go much wider... 700 plus You can always cut the bars, but never add to them! Just give it a few rides to test... Assuming of course that they're not 1000mm long! You didn't mention the length...
  5. Driving in the Phalabora area I once saw an eland jump over a high game fence... from a standing position!
  6. I get it too, any temperature, but worse if it's very cold. I have regarded it as an age thing! But would like to know how to minimise if poss. It could be a common issue as riding gloves always have a towelling part, for wiping said noses!
  7. And from the top of Delta Park towards Sandton City
  8. More Spruit Cellphone pics
  9. Spruit today
  10. To the top of Albert's Farm in Joeys Taken with Samsung S3
  11. Nothing is simple with video editing. It's one of the biggest resource eaters of all applications, CPU and RAM. I think you're maybe being a bit ambitious trying to do this on a tablet.
  12. For pedals, go shimano 540 or XT.. no contest.. I've tried Eggbeaters and all I can say is .. mmm. they're OK, but back to back with Shimano.. you can at least feel/hear when u click in with Shimano, I battle to click in with beaters. Only advantage with beaters is that they're light, but pricey too
  13. Definitely try them out for a while.. don't cut too soon.. you can't glue those offcuts back! I made that mistake..
  14. Between SCAMRAL and Multi No-choice it's a closely run race of extortionists! Bear in mind.. apart from paying through the nose subscriptions for repeats of repeats (and 2002-2003 vintage ones at that!), we also have to endue adverts that sometimes seem to go on for as long as the program we're watching... I think we should start a "class action suit" against these guys as well, seeing as they are a monopoly and have no competition. And BTW... have you seen the palace they're busy building for themselves with their ill gotten gains? It gives corporate HQ's new meaning... City they call it (I think) with justification..
  15. Homeland and The Americans are also compelling viewing.
  16. A tip for those who like red wine.. (unsubstantiated tho').. Drink organic wine IE No sulphur. It's apparently the sulphates that make you feel bad the next day. Woolworths sell a range of organic red wine that's also pretty cheap.. happy sluiping!
  17. More of the same...
  18. Go to this link in DIY tools on the hub... there's a .pdf tutorial on Shimano brake bleeding... https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/127707-diy-bike-tools/page__st__112
  19. I cringed when he did the RHS.. those crank teeth were just begging for a meal... LOL But that's not really a show of seized or difficult pedals.. it was all pre loosened
  20. Out of that lot, best value and safest purchase, and condition looks pretty fair.. is the Anthem.. IMHO And it's suitable for your type of riding
  21. What I omitted to say, is that whilst I would ride my Trance at Modderfontein, N Farm, Spruit etc IE anywhere, I never take my Anthem to van Gaalen and attempt to ride down Oom Piet's, Greek Church etc If I was to choose one of the two, it would be the Trance, with it's very plush suspension.
  22. I have one of each! So the best of both worlds.. I use the Anthem for Modderfontein, N Farm, Spruit etc and the Trance for Van Gaalen and more technical types of terrain. So like Jacquers says above, depends on your type of riding, which is not to say you can't ride a Trance at Modderfontein, but the Anthem is a bit lighter, and more suited to cross country..
