  1. But we still need you to make the pot bigger.
  2. Hectic - thanks for that - really puts their level of fitness and strength into perspective.
  3. 100% with you on this and I couldn't agree more. And the same applies to a lot of other topics. Every Tuesday when the garbage collectors remove the rubbish there's this young child (12-ish) with his mother waste picking. I've reported it to the municipality (got a case number with zero follow-up), then the ACVV (nice exchange of emails but zero follow-up) and now to the ward counsellor. I mean it's a child that should be in school who is now basically forced to be an informal waste picker. Now compared to other issues in our country it's not that big of a deal - but the point here is that we have started to become dull and numb to smaller issues just because they get the backseat over bigger issues. This problem becomes one where similar cases aren't taken very seriously, then people stop reporting it, and then it feeds into our larger issues like assault/theft/rape/syndicates.
  4. Funny how whenever I pop in at a Tiger Wheel and Tire, my tires will be on the tread depth limit. I swear if you replace all 4 tires and drive around town, go back, they will again tell you your tires need replacing. My experience with most bike shops are a bit like that - they under-service the fork and constantly want to replace your cassette and chain together. Since servicing myself, I've had the same cassette with multiple chains and will keep doing that until it starts jumping.
  5. When corporates do it its called price fixing and greed. Lots of companies in the US raising their prices not because of increased demand of labour, but because people expect inflation and so they can. The winners are their directors and shareholders. Everyone else loses.
  6. I’m completely neutral to comments vs no comments. But as you mentioned, there is merit to a measure/gauge/system that improves the quality of adds. So here is a suggestion: An add like button. A lot of other forums have them and I find them to be a good gauge of quality in those classifieds.
  7. Also see it’s only for Premier Membership.
  8. So I stumbled onto this piece of chocolate brownie today. https://www.virginactive.co.za/memberships/perks/garmin#:~:text=Please note%3A,on the Benefit Partner's website 25% off on basically all Garmin products except for things like HRM and cadence sensors. No idea how exactly to redeem it but since it's VA, I'm going to assume it's legit. You're welcome
  9. Better to make assumptions and possibly be wrong, or hurt some feelings of the sensitive, than sit by and do nothing 👏.
  10. If you have R40k in mind then there really is no sense in trying to upgrade the alu Titan - you’ll have to upgrade pretty much everything to even come close to a R40k bike. My advice is to sell it and buy something second hand.
  11. The crux of FNB's eBucks is that you have to shop at Checkers, Clicks and Engen (given that you jump through all the hoops of course). Who are Discovery's "partners"? Sounds like you have to shop at PNP, Dischem and BP?
  12. Will look into that, thanks.
  13. Well this looks promising. Are you using it?
  14. Alright - that's a pitty. Ordered a cheap phone strap to mount it to the stem/handlebar when I go searching for trails.
  15. Do you claim for all events or is there a list from which you know you can claim? The race calendar doesn't seem to work.
  16. Ah - yeah I'm more interested in finding new routes as I ride. Had to use my phone's strava yesterday and it was so nice having a map of where I ride along with the regularly ridden routes mapped onto the area I rode.
  17. I take it you're talking about riding a route, so a map guided route. Then the route is preloaded. I'm more referring to having a detailed map whilst riding (no preset route, just exploring). Preferably something with a Strava backing so that you can see the courses that others often ride, while you ride.
  18. Poor documentation on their offerings and call centres don't know jack. I'll just do eBucks and go without Vitality thank you.
  19. Does the 530/830/1030 have proper Map functionality when exploring trails? Would be nice if there's some IQ app to have detailed map navigation - similar to using Strava on my cellphone. Then you'd be able to see other trails/segments - feels like it's a garmin so it should have detailed maps but I struggle to find good info on this.
  20. So I'm looking into the next step ITO a CCTV setup. I started out with a R1,400 odd rand Wifi camera (TP Link). It's convenient in that it connects to the router - but it's detection/AI system is horrible - any cat or wind triggers it's motion detection, making unusable. It's 2022 so I'm certain there must be some options that won't break the bank but give a proper entry system that covers the entire house and gives proper person/human detection. Any advice? What do you have that works or doesn't work?
  21. Piet - "Gawie jys 'n suinige bliksem." Gawie - "Piet..chill. Dis net R350 wat jy en Willem moet split, jeez." Something to that extent?
  22. +1 People's true colours come out when it gets to money/finances.

Let's say you want to ride from Stellenbosch to Kylemore via Botmaskop. I don't know the figures and am too lazy to check but that is one hell of a climbing session. Doing it with a 46T at the back and 32T up front will take legs/low-weight/balls or a combination of the above. 1.) If that leg is only part of a longer ride that lasts 70km then you're in deep crap. If it's part of something like this year's epic then you better brace yourself. 2.) If you're trying to stick to a certain heart rate zone, then forget it. So for those 2 reasons or unless there's a 1 year shortage of larger cassette's, I'll rather leave my ego out of it and get a larger granny gear.
